Lets talk a bit about our forecast now taking a live look outside our walnut creek camera, where its looking. Its sunny out. There is traffic moves along pretty smoothly. It looks like at least on that roadway. At this hour. We have kyla grogan here with more on what we can expect outside a there 70. Yeah, hes very sunny out today. It is a little bit cool. Rightfully felt that any watch out the door. We had some cooler overnight. Temperatures and were going to be little breezy as we head to the afternoon right now. You can see about 70 Miles Per Hour there in San Francisco about 14 at Half Moon Bay. And that will kick up as we get to the afternoon like it usually does. But with a little bit more intensity than we might normally see on a regular day. Current temperatures right now, look at that beautiful blue skies. We take a live look at the transamerica pyramid. Where about 60 degrees in oakland and San Francisco. Low 60s for san jose. In livermore hour mid 60s for concord and petaluma. So its a little cool, but its awfully bright and beautiful as we take a live look from the east bay in the Berkeley Hills there. Lets talk about what oakland can expect today getting up to about 67 degrees and again with those beautiful sunny skies you can see in this live picture looking at we should be about 71 this time of year in oakland. So thats about 4 degrees below normal, right . And thats pretty consistent. But were going to see across the board here. So again, if you want to see 70s, you have to have all the way up to the north bay spots like santa rosa or nevado napo. We should hit about 70 degrees in antioch in concord. But the rest of us will be looking at some 60s today. It has everything to do with a system that tracked through was actually a dry cold front. You can see that same system that counter clockwise circulation bringing rain and snow over to places like utah right now and up in idaho. But for us, it was just a matter of cooling our temperatures down a little bit. And today were seeing those relatively clear skies now want to show you futurecast really through here till take into saturday morning. We have another system thats coming from the northwest. But notice how kind of falls apart. And that happens this time of year before we start to get into our rainy season. The effort to move water from the Sacramento Valley to the bay area and beyond in that projects been in the works for decades. Karma dickerson explains why state officials are calling this project essential and why some 40 years later, some communities are still saying no. California has long had a mismatch where the water falls and where people are. With the water. About 2 thirds falls in the sierra nevada. But most of the population is in the Central Valley in the bay area along the coast or in Southern California. After that Climate Change, less than less water is falling overall and the mismatch becomes a crisis trying to balance those needs as Californias Department of Water Resources. Again, looking for a water lifeline. To store water when its available and deliver it to them when they need it. Pushing a plan that has on many occasions seeing dead in the water, the delta convenience, the area we call the delta runs from sacramento down to tracy in the bay area out to the water. About half of californias water supply flows through here. The current delta commands project proposal commonly known as the delta tunnels. But at this point be just one tunnel with 2 in takes here in the area of could. This is south of sacramento, elk grove near clarksburg. The water would move from these and take further south pass. Ill ton southwest of stockton coming towards the area of tracy moving that water via tunnel to the area of the bethany reservoir. From there, the water is pushed to the west through the Central Valley and the Southern California. But take the from to take that from me. The wr says the project would serve california to get their water to the state Water Project as many as 27 Million People. But others are worried about 271. The number of People Living at the proposed starting point of the potential tunnel. You can not tell me that it wont destroy this town. Simple that mario moreno is a hood native and chair of the community council. Hes terrified of the potential impact a decade Long Construction project would have on his mind. Delta community. And its not a new concern. A big break. Regional shoreline actually have an exhibit documenting nearly 150 years of trying to move water throughout california. Starting in late 18, 100s about 100 years into this exhibit. We see the first versions of the delta canal project seeing those shot down but continuing to research over the next decade says were talking about canals, tunnels, all trying to move water throughout the delta. Theres not one single thing and the opposition just as theres not one single thing in the in the. Proponents of the think dan walters is a journalist that cow matters whos been covering delta water, diversion efforts for over 40 years. Are just about every argument against them ranging from Environmental Quality of life. Its a variety of interests and beliefs. That that. Taken as a whole tunnel would be neck damage to the delta. One daily buchman, the Environmental Program manager for the convenience says the new tunnel aims to minimize impacts on landscape and wildlife. It is following are out that we think has less effect with in delta communities. But still feel the essential need of water storage. She points to the heavy storms of october and december of last year, dwr claims that the proposed delta commands had been in place. Then they would have been able to keep that fresh water from going into the ocean, saving and transporting an up to serve 2 and a half million californians for a year. Youve got hollywood got to back in hood. I love the itself that they dont understand or care about. The complex needs of other parts of the state. But marino questions, why a small and in some ways wilner community largely latino with elderly residents would be a main hub of this project. You start looking around. Demographics will tell you a lot. Mario worries years of noise, debris, traffic jams and unsightly construction will drive his lifelong neighbors, friends and visitors from the community. Well see. Im still going to be here fighting. For his peaceful waterfront way of life in the delta as dwr fights to keep water to sustain life flowing throughout california. That was Karma Dickerson reporting for us. The department of Water Resources has released a draft report detailing the expected environmental impacts of this project. Theyve also created a Community Benefits program to try to give back to the residents who would most be impacted by this project. The public has until december 16th to weigh in. Well, scientists from around the world say global dependence on fossil fuels is making people sicker and weaker. A report from the medical journal lancet says air pollution from the burning of fossil fuels kills roughly 1. 2 Million People every year and nearly 12,000 of those deaths happened in the u. S. Global Carbon Dioxide emissions rose last year to their highest level ever in history. And the International Energy agency expects the issue to continue through the rest of the year. Until we know how to remove emissions from the atmosphere and do something with them. Even this past perilous may well prove to be better that almost any year ahead of us. The report also states extreme weather disasters are causing 100 million more people to go hungry worldwide because of climate impacts affecting the world food supply. All right. Lets talk a bit about our forecast now as we take a live look outside at coit tower. Beautiful blue skies up above in that part of the city. But we know that theres microclimates all across the bay area and we know that kyla grogan is tracking all that for us. Hey kylen. Hey, theyre sure. And but what a postcard. Perfect looking picture there. Totally gorgeous. San franciscos you can see the low pressure system, the kind of move past a fund that was our. Our dry cold front that doctor temperatures down a few degrees. High pressure off the coast, but well off the coast. So the point is theres nothing pa1ticularly dramatic about this set up right now. And thats why worst kind of in this mild pattern, right . Were a little bit cooler than we should be, but were seeing mostly skies, mostly sunny skies. A couple of high clouds will be rolling by as we take it forward. We get towards the weekend. You see a little more of the same. But we are going to see those clouds start to increase as another front passes us by. I dont think it will bring us any rain, but we will see some clouds out of that for saturday into sunday. I want to also talk about the wind here, expecting the wind to pick up a little bit as we get to the afternoon. It normally does. We can see now are talking in the north bay, you know, upwards of 20 Miles Per Hour, Half Moon Bay about 26. But watch what happens as we get into our thursday morning. We start to see a northerly flow coming toward spots like sonoma atlas peak. Thats a little bit of offshore wind. So just a heads up. Its nothing too terribly dramatic. But that offshore wind is usually that drier air that rolls through. They can exacerbate fire danger. So just something to keep an eye on as we go into the next 24 hours. Here we are, though, relatively quiet, as you can see and again, more blue skies as we take a live look outside our crowd for building right here. This camera is right off the a decorator in kron 4. You can see those blue skies. I love watching the cars. The little cable cars go by because theyre so nate, each one of them from a different place, kind of read the history of those. Theyre kind of fascinating. Were in the low 60s across most of the bay conquered petaluma heading at 66 degrees at our current wind right now about 17 Miles Per Hour in San Francisco. So not too terribly bad, certainly were going to see, as i mentioned, its going to pick up as you get to the afternoon. So pretty quiet over the next couple of days, sunny and breezy as we get to thursday, mostly sunny on friday. Im gonna keep that little chance of rain in there for saturday for the north bay. But frankly, i dont think its going be anything but a sprinkle and then monday looking pretty good for our halloween. Were talking sunny skies and no rain to worry about. So thats some good news. Back to you. Yes, so no umbrellas needed help to win. Good news there. Thank you, kyra. A new survey reveals how much money people think they need to retire comfortably.
