We are on the cooler side of things today compared where we were earlier this week. Temperatures obviously breaking some records a couple of days ago yesterday wasnt as hot and today. Definitely even cooler yet. Napa petaluma at 48 degrees nevado 50 degrees. Oakland at 55. Well conquered in dublin in the low 50s for current temperatures need the light jackets this morning as youre getting out there. Otherwise weve got clearing skies this afternoon and look at where the afternoon takes us. Its low 80s for our inland areas, low 70s along the bay shore, some 60s at the coastline, mostly sunny skies this afternoon and the rest of the weekend only getting even cooler. Youre crossing there 402, now and our top story this morning, a car buried in someones backyard in police say dogs used to find dead bodies may also have detected human remains. Police say a group of landscapers found the car just before 9 thursday morning that a multimillion dollar home on stockbridge avenue about a mile from woodside high school. The owners of the house called police and asked them to come out and check the situation out the car which police say has been buried there for more than 20 years, about 4, 5 feet deep. It is completely filled with earth and also contain some bags of an mc cement. Nobody knows at this time why the car was buried. Cadaver dogs were brought in and they signal to their handlers. That human remains could be in the vehicle. Excavation teams were still at work while we were on air last night at 10 00pm. And it was not a fast moving process. They do have the majority of the top of the vehicle has been uncovered. But the entire interior of the vehicle was also filled with dirt. And so theyre kind of working their way through that. A lot of people who knew how to fix them would be there anymore. The people who are supposed to keep their eyes on certain things wouldnt be doing that anymore. The report also says they will likely close by the end of the month. Bloomberg also put out a report the Biden Administration is considering investigating musks twitter purchase. In the East Bay High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave after assigning reading material that some parents team sexually explicit kron fours gayle ong talked with one of the parents upset over the incident at the union city school. That parents says she notified School Officials when she was first made aware of the assignment and says the topic should have been kept out of the classroom. Those states appointing this parents daughter goes to James Logan High School in union city. She says the controversial reading assignment was given by her daughters history teacher public coming to explain the source. A south bay teacher was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting 2 students during an afterschool program. Stephen eugenes high worked as an art teacher at an Elementary School in san jose. Deputies say the incident happened 2 years ago but would not identify the school involved. Detectives say thai contacted the miners through social media. The teacher was booked into the Santa Clara County jail of charges of lewd acts with a child under the age of 14. Officials believe there could be other victims. But theres protest that has state that led to the citys District Attorney walking out 3 of the citys District Attorney candidates, including brooke jenkins, gathered for a debate. You that activists who oppose jenkins plan to prosecute some underage offenders as adults stormed the venue, chanting no justice, no peace. According to researchers at ucl, a brush fires put an estimated 127 Million Metric Tons of Carbon Dioxide into the air. Now our state reduced emissions by 65 million metric. Tons between 2003 in 2019 in 2020 wildfires where the second largest producer of Greenhouse Gases in the state surpassed only by vehicles. California is now getting more resources to fight and prevent wildfires. The female improvement and efficiency act also known as the fire act is aimed at changing how federal resources are deployed ahead of a potential mega fire. It will be 70s for most of us along the bay shore with burlingame at 74 redwood city at 75 and the south bay seeing temps anywhere from the upper 70s to low 80s morgan hill and campbell, right at 80 degrees. But nothing thats holding you up too terribly much for 19. Now has the fentanyl crisis continues to out of hand. Fresno county says it will start treating fentanyl Overdose Deaths as murders. Alex caprariello reports on the hard for to cut down on these drug deaths. She just got home from work and you know, was given a pill she thought would help her back from hurting. She was folding laundry eating a snack and fell asleep and never woke up sage dry. It says her sister knew the dangers of fentanyl and was misled about a painkiller she bought leading to her death. Prosecutors say they now have the evidence to prove jades death was murder. This is murder without using a weapon. This is murder without using a firearm. The weapon is fentanyl. 21 yearold Cassidy Gonzalez faces 4 felony counts, including suspicion of murder. Another man is also facing charges as an accessory. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid with legitimate medical use. But because its cheap and powerful, its increasingly common to find it mixed with heroin or in pills. On wednesday, agents say they found 12,000 fentanyl pills hidden in boxes and bags of candy at Los Angeles International airport. The sheriff in Los Angeles County says their suspect tried walking through security with the bags and ran when caught in new york this month, Police Arrested a woman hiding 15,000 fentanyl pills in a lego box. The pills were imprinted with an m and the number 30 to resemble common painkillers. At the time it was new york citys largest fentanyl bust. Only to be outdone, a week later when 300,000 pills and more than 20 pounds of powdered fentanyl were found. The dea says the fentanyl in communities across america is commonly made and smuggled from mexico.
