In general, ive been through 3 hurricanes that the area was supposed to have in the past 3 or 4 but he always just diverted west. So we were always lucky about that. I woke up this morning at 04 30am, because i was very concerned, especially about my restaurant. Theres not much place for the water to go in. The water comes in. And that is the worry whether the tampa area or further south takes the brunt of ian. The water will rise. It is and big it is going to kick up a lot of water as it comes in and youre going to end up with really significant. Storm surge are going end up with really significant flood events. And this is the type of storm surge that that is lifethreatening. Mandatory evacuations are in effect along the coast. Grocery stores are running low on supplies, but we found some did have that in gulfport, florida, Kristina Brown and her husband are shuttering up. She took us inside her house where there is a safe room specially built for hurricanes. So this room is also a concrete. Also the concrete. Ceilings floors was 8 inch thick, double rebar. We have our our supplies. So many here are ready for the worst in an area that hasnt taken a direct hit from a hurricane in more than a century. Oaklands police chief says he is now changing the way his officers are deployed in the hopes of putting more officers on the streets and more bad guys in jail. Kron fours dan kerman has the story. We know that weve seen a huge spike violence across our city. It is important that this Department Responds during an online news conference. Oakland police chief Leronne Armstrong announced. Hes now putting all hands on deck. In other words, more officers on the streets. We will have officer presence in east oakland as well some areas in west oakland. What we know certain groups in games congregate. We know that these are areas that other groups in focus on for retaliatory shootings. We will be in areas. What a high presence as well as a visual vehicles like our command post in our Community Resource vehicles will be deployed into those areas. A recent graduates from the academy have been added to the criminal investigation division. And other officers will work on their days off. Every resource that we can utilize will be utilized. A suspicion of attempted robbery according to police, a witness saw the man in a car fully masked and wearing gloves near a Shopping Center apparently prepared to commit a robbery.
