Remains shut down this evening as police try to negotiate with a barricaded suspect who pulled a gun on an exterminator, a Police Spokesman said. Police responded to reports of a person with a gun in the 500 block of valencia street between 16th and 17th streets at 1 55 p. M. , according to Police Spokesman sgt. Michael andraychak. The call came in after someone doing pest control work in the building went to an apartment. The apartments resident pulled a gun and the exterminator fled, andraychak said. The suspect is now barricaded there and police are working with hostage negotiators to get the person to surrender. All vehicular and pedestrian traffic is shut down on valencia street. Residents in the area have been ordered to shelterinplace, police said. The closure of the busy thoroughfare is causing heavy traffic in the area. San Francisco Municipal Railway buses are being rerouted. Independent movie venue the roxie theater wrote on twitter that they were in the shelterinplace area, but police are allowing them to escort patrons to the theater from the corner of 16th and albion streets for their 7 p. Screening of uncle howard. steve tonight officers made a second arrest in connection to the death of the 88year old woman known to many as miss flo douglas from san jose. steve Santa Clara Couty sheriffs say Jennifer Hernandez is now being held with out bail and set to appear in court on monday. 19year old zachary cuenwas previously arrested. He has been charged with murder after reportedly breaking into miss flos home. Then robbing and beating her. Miss flo was in the hospital for a month before she died from her injuries. Deputies have not said exactly how hernandez is connected, but she is behind bars. Its not cool, just to be duckin around lookin oh, i might get shot. I might get killed catherine now at 8. People in the east bay are feeling uneasy after a freeway shooting shut down i80last night. It stayed closed for five hours. steve that shooting not an isolated incident. Freeway shootings have been happening a lot lately in the east bay. Catherine Kron fours Spencer Blake is live in Contra Costa County with an update from the chp. Spencer . The good news is, chp officers arrested three suspects in last nights shooting. But at a press conference, we also learned some striking statisticsthat have some people here concerned. At a press conference friday, california Highway Patrol gave details on thursdays freeway shooting, and noted that, in the past 15 or 16 months, there have been about a80 freeway shootings in the east bay. Obviously its a high number; its higher than anyone would want, and we come to work every day trying to solve these cases. Its a number that has some people worried about violence spilling over onto surface streets in places like richmond. I feel like it scares people who just live in the neighborhood, too, and are just going home from work. Chp did make three arrests in this most recent case Elliot Johnhenry Johnson and two 17yearolds are suspected to have been in the car where the shots came from. Lieutenant Jason Reardon says they all have gang ties, and he suspects the shooting was targeted, not random. Johnson also has an extensive violent criminal history, ranging from gun crimes to carjacking. I think about my grandbaby, my granddaughter. She be driving on the freeway quite a bit. One of the victims, a man, is in grave condition. The woman in the car with him is now in stable condition. This richmond man says he knows there can be a lot of crime in town, buti feel like we could do better than just shooting ourselves on the freeway. The investigation into thursdays caseis still very fluid, and investigators will be gathering more data about these shootings for the next time they meet with reporterslikely sometime next week. Chp says the suspects will be formally charged next week, and it will be up to the District Attorneys Office whether or not to charge the juveniles as adults. After she failed to check in with her family thursday evening, a search began shortly thereafter. Dozens of search and rescue crews worked overnight thursday and all day friday.
