The sierra lamar murder trial will soon be in the hands of the jury. As Closing Arguments continue. Pam joins us with a key strategy the defense is making. pam the jury posed with this question is the wrong person on trial in the murder of the morgan hill teen . The defense is trying to cast doubt. That antonlin Garcia Torres committed the crime. While prosecutors say, the evidence demands he be found guilty. Kron4s rob fladeboe is following the trial. As the Closing Arguments are wrapping up. Lead defense attorney al lopez, as shown here in a courtroom sketch and here with his client antolin Garcia Torres during a Previous Court appearence, began his Closing Argument by asserting to the jury there is scant evidence his client killed sierra lamar and none that he attacked three other women before sierra lamar disappeared. A brilliant strategy says legal analyst steven clarksteven clark legal analyst if the jury believes that he is not responsible for those safeway attacks, its going to undermine the overall view that the case against Garcia Torres, that he is someone with the proclivity to have gone after sierra lamar. The defense attacked evidence that put the defendant near the bus stop where sierra lamar vanished, arguing there is proof he was long gone when sierra got there and that investigators not only contaminated dna and other forensic evidence, but failed to look into reports of another car in the area, suggesting they arrested the wrong suspect. Steven clark legal analystanytime you as a defense attorney can point to someone else as the person who may have committed the crime, thats something you have to do and that could resonate with this jury when they decide, one, is she really dead and two, did Garcia Torres killer her. pam the defense will resume its Closing Arguments tomorrow. But the prosecution will have the final word with jury, during its rebuttal argument. Thats when analyst steven clark says, they will attempt to undo any possible damage done to their case by the defense. steve the sun is setting on yet another beautiful day. Kron 4s Justine Waldmans talked to the fire chief about what this means for response times. Nats of sirensfor just a few more months, fire trucks will head out to calls from station number 94 nat sot the reason we are in this situation we are in today is lack of retentionfire chief bill helmick tells mein the past five years the station in knightsen has shut down 2 other times. Temporary solutions reopened it. But those are not sustainable anymore. The east contra costa Fire Protection district does not have enough funding to afford it. Images of murder, torture, Sexual Assault or suicide are increasingly being uploaded or streamed live. pam today, the company made a major announcement to try to keep those gruesome visuals from landing in your feed. Kron 4s tech reporter gabe slate is here. Gabe what is facebook doing . gabe on camera facebook is hiring 3,000 people to monitor the social network for offensive or violent videos and remove them when found. That is in addition to the four thousand five hundred people they already employ for this. So they are really trying to throw resources at this. Here is what Mark Zuckerberg said about this new innitiative. In a post on his feed Mark Zuckerberg said facebook recently helped stop one Facebook Live user from committing suicide by acting quickly. But in other cases, they werent so fortunate, he wants to be able to act quicker and save lives or get these violent videos off the network immediately so people are not using it to get their 15 minutes of sick twisted internet fame like the recent incident in clevland when Steve Stephens posted a video on facebook of him shooting and killing an elderly man. Mark zuckerberg recently addressed that the Companies Annual developer confernce. Mark zuckerberg ceo, facebook we have a lot of work to do. We will do all we can to prevent tradgedies like this from happening. Their plan is to add 3,000 people to the existing 4,500 who daily scan the network looking for offensive or violent videos and then remove them when found. It is honorable they are throwing resources at this issue. But is that enough to solve this difficult problem . . . Not likely. There are two billion users uploading atleast 400 hours of video a minute to facebook there is no way 7,500 hundred people can keep up and monitor all that video. Now they are working on atificial intelligence to network. Software that will scan the network, find these videos and delete them its going to be a while before this technology is ready for deployment. And eventually that artificial intellegence will be good enough to evalute videos as they are being uploaded, or and if they are deemed they will be time.
