President trump he wasnt doing a good job, very simply, he was not doing a good job. Manu raju cnn do you think this was cover up . Sen. Elizabeth Warren D Massachusetts i think that theres just no doubt, given the timing, steve democrats and more than a few republicans are raising questions tonight about the sudden dismissal of fbi director james comey. Comey had been in charge of the investigation into russian meddling in the president ial election. catherine the negative reaction drew its own pushback from the white house. I dont know why people are so surprised when donald trump, whos not part of the swamp, whos a nonpolitician, whos taken decisive actions his entire life, been a disruptor his entire life, when he comes to washington, does the same and people express shock and awe. More shock than awe from senator dianne feinstein. I become incredulous thinking about the ongoing fbi investigation into russias interference with our president ial election,. The white house blamed comey for mishandling the Hillary Clinton email probe i think its been an erosion of confidence. I think director comey has shown over the last several months and frankly the last year a lot of missteps and mistakes. In his letter firing comey, the president made no mention of the emails, and said this about the russia investigation i greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that i am not under investigation, but that investigation has not concluded. Just a few days ago, comey asked for more money and personnel for the investigation into russias interference in the president ial election, and hours before the firing, federal prosecutors subpoenaed associates of trumps former National Security adviser michael flynn. The question is why did it happen last night . Were those investigations getting too close to home for the president . What we have now is really a looming constitutional crisis that is deadly serious. Russias foreign minister is definitely not taking it seriously. At a White House Photo op, he had this mocking response. Was he fired . Youre kidding youre kidding catherine the firing brought up memories of watergate, when president nixon fired the independent special prosecutor investigating him the Nixon Library was quick to point today that even he did anota go as far as to fire his fbi director. catherine ahead at eight.
