Still ahead tonight at 8 union must back on board. The latest in the dramatic deal to buy twitter. Elon musk and his on again off again love affair with twitter. Seems to be on again in a letter to twitter, musk is proposing to buy the company for the originally agreed upon price of 44 billion dollars. As kron fours, dan kerman tells us many believe that this latest twist was really motivated by an Upcoming Court battle. After initially launching a hostile takeover bid to buy twitter in april. Only then to back out in july and be sued. Elon musk now says hes willing to buy the social networking platform for the originally agreed upon price of 44 billion dollars. A lot of the attempts to look for an exit ramp or an escape hatch in this deal just havent really played out well for him. And so i think probably there was this realization. But the windows were starting to close and that it was overwhelmingly likely. But hes going to end up owning this company by hook or by crook. Columbia University Law professor eric talley says it must realized he was going to lose when the case went to trial this month reaching a deal in stopping the lawsuit. Now keeps must from being deposed under oath in the case and prevents a further public bashing of twitter. So we now is a way to to do that. Put it in a way that doesnt involve kind about public. You know, great fast about about twitter that would have taken place inside inside the courtroom allows and detritus conscript his army of supporters and financiers to get on board and to move forward with this thing. But tech analysts say, well, that might stop the bleeding damage is already been done. Theyve lost key people as a result of this because he indicated he was going he was going to trim the staff dramatically slipping bleeding, folks. Certainly advertisers were really excited about a company that was in this kind of turmoil. So he did a lot of damage, both twitter and a judge will have to agree to make the trial go away and the deal happen. And financial backers will have to hold up their end to finance the purchase. Analysts say twitter might also demand must agree to financial penalties if he tries to walk away again. And even if that happens, tech analyst rob enderle lee says musk will still have an uphill battle bus. Hes a guy that is massively distracted by all of these other efforts and doing the turnaround is not easy and doing that turn around the company. This is badly broken. His twitter is is nearly impossible. Even if you were to give it your full time. So this is going to be an interesting one to watch. Dan kerman kron. 4 news. Meanwhile, the superintendent says that he is in favor of adding armed guards to his campus, but says he cannot because he does not have the authority to do force has it. My view has the story. I at this meeting with parents, the executive director of Bay Area Technology school in oakland, doctor seth feldman had this to say about security on campus. If i was allowed. Today. Doctor feldman says even though members of the bay tech School Community would like to add Armed Security to the existing safety measures. But he had knowledge that effort alone is not enough. If people dont agree to put the guns down themselves, its not enough to be the nations gun safety leader when our babies are getting shot in the back seat of a car on the 8. 80. Its not enough that you are statistically less likely to die from a bull in california than just about any other state when our children are being shot in their classrooms. It is not enough to pass the strongest gun safety laws in the nation, including a ban on assault weapons and high capacity magazines and birthday parties turned into war zones. Oakland mayor libby schaff also spoke directly to prosecutors today saying appropriate consequences for violent criminals is necessary to stop the cycle of violence. And lawrence is here and says weve got to get away and you just very warm. I love this kind of weather. This is a fabulous at this time. You get those cool nights, right . But you get those warm days and even a little bit hot, ok, in some places, not for everybody, but were going to create these temperatures up outside in spots out there this evening. You do have a couple of patches of fog lingering near the coastline looking out towards sfo. Nice evening out there. But High Pressure. That ridge really going to take care of us for the week ahead. Looks kind of impressive out there in the pacific. Got several storms kind a lining up out there. But the jet stream arriving right over the top that ridge. And thats where its going to stay. In fact, that ridge going to strengthen as we head throughout this week. That is going to bring you lots of sunshine. The one exception, maybe couple patches of fog in the morning hours, but kind of a thin layer. I think its going around all day and that means youve got some sunshine, even showing up along the coastline as we head throughout the day. That being said tomorrow, i think were looking at warmer weather plan in about 72 degrees and beautiful in downtown San Francisco. 65 in the sunset about 62 degrees in pacifica. 63 in Half Moon Bay. 75 gorgeous in millbrae. 76 in burlingame, 78 degrees in foster city. 84, it would side south bay enjoying lots of 80s tomorrow afternoon. Maybe some 90s gilroy and morgan hill. And then you look at those temperatures pushing near 90 degrees in the tri valley over the east bay hills. Its going to be very warm and the coming days back, maybe a little bit on the hot side, low 90s. So not too hot, but the kind of a last gasp of the real nice weather. Before we start to talk about some much cooler weather heading later in the season. But temperatures in nation tomorrow about 85 degrees. 83 in napa. 87 in sonoma. And as you push toward the coastline, those numbers 60s and 70s out at the beach is not bad in the north bay next couple days. Warming things right up and then cooling back down late next weekend. Lauren, thank you. Still to come tonight, in a 2 years later, San Francisco voters are being asked if they want to change their minds on how to keep the streets claim will explain why. And the first lady planning a visit to the bay area when shes going to be here. And the reason for her visit next. San franciscos officially kicking off fleet week. Mayor london breed began the longstanding tradition by welcoming the fleet. And the blue angels back to the bay today. You know, fleet week is a time honored tradition in San Francisco. We know every year during the month of october, all of a sudden we hear those fly those planes flying through. But lee week isnt just about the extraordinary talent of the blue angels. Its about so much more. Its about developing a relationship with our military. The people who put their lives on the line to make sure that we retain the rights and the freedoms that we enjoy in the United States of america. Up to a Million People are expected to visit San Francisco during fleet week, which is great for businesses. The city is expecting a large economic jolt for restaurants, shops and hotels. Coming up next in sports, the fortyniners defense got the job done last night. Defeating the defending super bowl champions. Our sports director jason dumas has coach shana kron fours your local election headquarters and with the Midterm Election now just a few weeks away, want to make sure that youre prepared for whats on your ballot all of us. Need to get prepare this year. There are several local measures that could bring big changes, including proposition b in San Francisco. If it is passed, it would reverse a decision made by voters just 2 years ago. Our grant lodes is here now to explain grant. Well, ken and pam, with this one change, how clean San Francisco streets are prob b. Heres seeks to eliminate the citys newly created department of sanitation and streets. Transferring its duties back to the department of public works, but it would still keep both the public works. Commission and the sanitation streets commission Holding Public hearings and setting policies. Now the department of sanitation streets was created and approved by voters just 2 years ago in response to the state of the city streets and after the department of public works, director, well have a new route here was arrested for accepting bribes. Mayor london breed and several city supervisors support this ballot measure. They argue that rolling 2 departments back into one would save the city money and preserve jobs. Analysis from the city controller shows the mhasure would likely save the city about 6 Million Dollars over the next 2 years. However, re combining these departments would reduce the number of administrative staff needed. So some folks would likely lose jobs. People opposing proposition b include garbage collectors, street cleaners, sand a homeless encampment management. They argue the move to dis. All of the Sanitation Department is a power grab from officials which would were turning the cleanliness of the city streets back to politicians. So bottom line here, a yes vote means that you want the department of public again, be responsible for all the streets and sanitation, a no vote means you do not want to make that change. Proposition b will need more than 50 of all votes in order to pass. Ken pam, now back to you. Thank you. Grant looking now at some of our statewide ballot measures. There are 2 propositions to legalize online and in person, Sports Betting. But as our capitol correspondent Eytan Wallace explains, results just released from a new poll indicate that voters are not ready to go all in on either measure. Well, if you are willing to bet either or both of these measures are pass. Well, a new poll indicates your wager may be way off. Not one but 2 propositions. This election could change the Sports Betting landscape across the state or a Sports Betting expert Robert Lenahan described that if one of the propositions passes, you will see Sports Betting in some for Retailer Online in california in 2020. Hes talking about props. 26 27. But as of now, a new poll from the Uc Berkeley Institute of governmental studies indicate neither will pass of the 6,900 plus californians surveyed for the poll. Just 31 said they support prop 26. The ballot measure calls for in person Sports Betting on tribal lands and select horse racing tracks across the state. Thats wagered at the tracks with see a 10 state tax with revenue going toward regulation for gambling, Mental Health and Sports Betting. And with support, not looking strong for prop. 26, its looking even weaker for prop 27 which would allow online Sports Betting in california and would implement taxes and fees on tribes and gaming companies. The majority of the revenue raised would go toward Homeless Services and gambling addiction programs. But for the majority of the people surveyed support just was not there with 53 saying theyll vote no. In this particular instance, he had to competing initiatives. Running. Have very heavy. No ad campaigns against the other side. So its really not that surprising that voters are kind of being turned off by both of them. What a performance from that niners defense last night. I think all of us here in the bay area knew. They were good. But now the league and the rest of the country theyve been put on notice. That was complete domination on prime time. San francisco has only allowed 4 touchdowns through 4 games and theyre getting it done on every level of the defense. They had 7 sacks last night and nick bosa leads the nfl with 6 on the season. Their linebackers seem to never missed tackles and hawk down screen passes with an elite purse and then there is the secondary led by corner mooney ward who shuts down half the field and secondyear safety talent know a few from the who have morphed into one of the best safeties in the game. There he is with the electrifying interception last night Kyle Shanahan gave that unit their praises once again today after watching some game film. It wasnt just any what one area that we dominated that i think that all areas had their had their opportunities. I mean, there are times that the d line which i think was obvious, everyone with amount of sacks of the pressures. But what i thought was cool that a couple times in the game where they they picked up a couple 5 in staff or have some some time. And just to our guys in man coverage, especially or 2 corners on the outside and on the slot others. A few plays in particular that they held up for a while. And then just to play you know, help making a get made a few big plays. Also. I know i would love to have that pick. And then our linebackers other moments, too. So just throughout the team. Where everyone had to kind of take the opportunity to help out the other side. It was it was pretty cool to watch. New warriors guard ty jerome got his first practice in today with his new team. Drone was traded to the rockets last week in waves soon after making way for him to join the dubs Training Camp roster in order to make space for jerome. The warriors released mac mcclung rome is a big guard who looks to get other guys involved first before looking for his own shot. And that is what steve kerr said. Enticed him the most. When i asked him about high this afternoon at practice, see what entice you guys to bring in ty, jerome and you know, how do you view his game . Well, as a unique opportunities that hes a big point guards, you know, 6 legit, 6, 6, really good interested in a more pass point road. You know, letting mac go was i love mac and i think hes an nba but i think for our we needed more of a a passfirst guy. And ty is a very intriguing player because of his size and his ability to see over the top of the defenses pick and role play. So its a great opportunity for for us to get a look at him and for him to play with our guys. Obviously, you know, you want to be on the 15 man roster in the league. You believe youre an nba player would entice you to come here. Makes you think you can make that situation happened. With the warriors. I think anytime you have opportunity to be a part of Something Like this, you dont turn down after learned grow, get better. You know, unique situation the past year has no case iraq. I like that. And your 2, 3 just liked. Still so young in my career. I still want to learn so much more young men to learn from you guys just opportunity on that same wow, worries are deep.
