A black box locator detected a ping in the southern indian ocean. This. According to reports from Chinese State media. And this comes exactly one month since flight 370 went missing after taking off from kuala lampur. This morning there has been no official confirmation of the ping but Chinese State media says a patrol ship using a black box detector. Located a pulse signal and an aviation expert tells cnn the frequency is equivalent to that coming from a planes black box. This comes as crews from several countries are scrambling to find flight 370. The black box pinger only sends signals for roughly 30 days. We are still awaiting word from australian officials about this new development as they are leading the search in the waters off weve seen many new leads not pan out over the past few weeks. But we know search crews are looking to detect a ping from the planes black box. Reports say they did detect a ping now begins the process of figuring out if its related to flight 370. However. Experts say its not for sure this is linked to the missing plane. The frequency detected does match the standard frequency for the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder used on the flight.
