Trooper john farley says with the limited visibility, its important to take extra precautions. Headlights on. Leave them on low beams. We alwawa say see and be seen, said ioio state trooper, john farley. For siouxlanders that do have to go out on those snowcovered roads. Theres still a thin layer of ice thats built up with road traffic and blowing snow. So theres some important tips to keep in mind. Slow down. Always expect the unexpected. Take care when youre passing or approaching your snow plows. Dont overestimate their speed. You might be coming up on them pretty quick. Not only watching what theyre doing, but watch all around you, said iowa state trooper, john farley. Farley says driving is a 360degree process and you but whats behehd you. Parking is allowed on only the even side of residential streets. The Siouxland Humane Society recommends keeping your animals indoors if possible and provides these tips for owners provide shelter from the wind and precipitation. Sioux city was dropped from the winter storm warning from earlier, but one remains in effect for areas east of the metro where some out there could see around 710 inches of snow between today and tomorrow. Youll see these amounts gegesmaller the farthererest in e viewing area you travel, so sioux city could very well fall short of the halffoot mark of the white stuff by tuesday morning. The snow will decrease in intensity and eventually exit the viewing area tomorrow morning as winds lighten up. The accident happened yesterday afternoon on u. S. Highghy 75 in Thurston County near pender. The nebrbrka state patrol says the vehicle rolled down an embankment. They died at the scene. The patrol identified them as 30yearold britney mccauley, of walthill, and 24yearold brianna wolfe, of macy. The patrol says investigators suspect alcohol use was a factor in the crash. A man wanted in iowa and south dakota has been arrested in nebraska. Authorities say 19year old zachary frye of sioux city was after leading authorities on a chase that began in Woodbury County. Dakota county deputies arrested him in south sioux. He was taken to the Dakota County jail for warrants in iowa and south dakota. Frye faces several charges including eluding, reckless driving and several alcohol and drug charges. Fryes passenger was released as deputies say he was telling frye to stop and pulled the vehicleeemergency break to stop the car. A northwest iowa day care operator has been charged with child endangerment involving a toddler in her care. Deputies with the Sioux County Sheriffs Office arrested 32 yearold Dianna Winder last thursday at her home in maurice. Authorities say her arrest stems from an investigation in november after a Health Care Provider reported suspicious injuries to a 15monthold boy in her care. The boy had nonlife threatening head injuries. Winder is charged with child endangerment causing Bodily Injury and serious assault. Past week after a long slide downward.
