Wx timer 40 federal investigators have made a connection between a shooting on the santee sioux indian reservation and a manhunt suspect from niobrara. The shooting happened wednesday on the santee sioux indian reservation after a standoff with federal authorities. Yesterday, fbi investigators confirmed to our news partner, news channel nebraska, 25yearold David Hoffman was the man involved in that standoff. He was pronounced dead at a hospital in yankton, south dakota last night. The standoff happened here on this embankment, near the missouri river, on the reservation. Fbi investigators allowed access to the scene, yesterday. The search for hoffman started on tuesday after to arrest hoffman who was wanted on burglary and theft charges. Authorities say hoffman assaulted the officer, then took his gun. A massive manhunt was launched in niobrara. Schools and businesses were locked down as a precaution. Texas state trooper Brian Encinia turned himself in to Texas Rangers thursday afternoon. A grand jury indicted encinia on wednesday charging him with perjury. They say he lied about what led to his confrontation with sandra bland following a traffic stop last year. Encinia was later released on a 25hundred dollar bond. If convicted, he faces up to one year in prison and a 4thousand dollar fine. A Philadelphia Police officer is lucky to be alive after he was shot multiple times in a shootout with a suspect late thursday. Police say the shooting happened just before midnight. 33yearold officer Jesse Hartnett was driving through a West Philadelphia intersection when the suspect opened fire. Hartnett was shot 3 times in his left arm and suffered but is expected to survive. The suspect fired at least 13 times, emptying the 9 millimeter handgun he was shooting. Officer hartnett was able to return fire and hit the suspect who then ran away. The suspect, a 30 year old man, was shot at least 3 times and was apprehended a short distance away. Hartnett was taken into surgery early friday and is expected to make a full recovery. There is still no word on the condition of the suspect or a motive for the shooting. Sheriffs departments from thurston and woodbury counties are searching for an 82year old man who may be in danger. Illinois Officials Say marvin davis has been missing since janurary 4th. He left his home in a maroon or burgandy ford ranger with illinois plates. Davis called a relative on the 5th saying he was traveling to washington to be with a former companion.
