Steve, for the most part we have a decent commute. Over night we have one big problem. I do want to mention that traffic starting off on the east shore freeway does look good and its dry. Remember steve mentioned if it does rain tomorrow, you really need to give yourself extra time. If it does rain for the morning commute tomorrow it will be a big deal for the traffic. It will be a lot of slow traffic. It always happens that way. There is no reason to believe it would be otherwise. This is a look at the the bay bridge toll plaza and the traffic looks good. I want to put it on the map here. Interstate 880 a deadly collision. Breaking news out of oakland where all but one lane of southbound 880 is open. Paul chambers is there with more on what chp says might have caused the car to flip on to the other side of the freeway. Paul. Reporter that is correct. I want to show you the traffic. Its down to one lane here. It is slow going in this area. We are up on the highway. I will tell you this is a pretty interesting track. Lets show you right now. The car is basically unrecognizable. We were told just before 1 00 this morning that the bmw is almost unrecognizable. It was drying northbound. Chp says it was a high rate of speed. Probably 100 miles an hour. It rear ended a big rig also going northbound. And flipped end over end on the southbound lane where it collided with a honda crv. The person in the crv and the person in the bmw both died in this accident. This is what chp had to say. The bmw rear ends the big rig and goes end over end. Jumps the Center Divide wall here and goes head on into a honda crv. Reporter we are told once again that both cars the big rig and the bmw were driving northbound and that is when the bmw collided, flipped over and hit the southbound car. We are told there is another car involved in that accident but that person is okay. The driver of the big rig was also okay. The driver of the big rig said to be in his 40s. The driver of the crv in their 70s. They say its too soon to say if alcohol was a factor. They almost continue the investigation and let us know. All we know is it was a high speed race that when the bmw hit the big rig and that is when it happened. The freeway should be shut down like this for another hour or so. Well stay on top of this. At least six people are dead in illinois after dozens of tornadoes touched down. Reporter Andrew Spencer has more on the damage and video of one of the deadly twisters. Reporter this town of 10,000 people was among the hardest hit as the storms ripped through washington, illinois. A lot of people have a pile of rubble. I dont have anything. Its gone. I dont know where it went. Reporter taken away by this tornado. The man recording this video prays it engulfs houses not far from his. Illinois Emergency Management says in two communities the storms destroyed 70 homes. Rescuers worked sunday to reach people trapped under the rubble. Hiding in their basements. Santa rosa police found this 18 yearold victim down in the street last night with several stab wounds and this morning investigators are working hard to try to track down a group of young men who attacked him. It was around 8 00 last night when this all happened. It happened on gardener avenue in the roseland area of santa rosa. The victim was found right behind Lawrence Cook middle school. The young man was rushed to the hospital although police are telling us his wounds are not considered life threatening. This teenager told police he was attacked by a group of seven or eight people. Possible gang members that asked about his affiliation. He reported that seven or eight subjects jumped him and challenged him about his gang affiliation and proceeded to punch, kick, and stab him multiple times. Reporter the group then drove off in an older model silver honda odyssey. The young men are described as hispanic all in their late teens or early 20s and a sergeant here with the Santa Rosa Police department told me the departments Gang Crimes Team is investigating this assault and searching for the people who left a teenager hospitalized. Thousands are heading through the new bore for the first time. This is the first workday commute for the bore. Its designed to speed up traffic for the more than 160,000 people who travel through the tunnel every day. There are now four lanes of traffic open. Bart management could meet with Union Leaders as early as today to discuss the expensive mistake in the tentative contract agreement. That mission take involving family leave could cost the Transit Agency up to 44 million over the next four years. Union leaders point out management has already signed off on the deal. The two sides hope to work out an agreement before the bart board meets to vote on the tentative agreement thursday morning. Both sides see little chance of any strike. A state Safety Committee meets in San Francisco today to take another look at a response. That panel is expected to grill members of the state Public Utilities commission.
