Thats where the thunderstorms are heading as we are now seeing heavy downpours in areas like concord along highway 4. Pittsburgh area, clayton area and those areas in between. That by the National Weather service and now beginning to move in to areas like livermore, which will continue as we get in to the next hour or two. But lets roll it back. The difference between the watch and the warning is that the warning means that it will be eminent and it is happening, the debris flow and the flash flooding. That going on in some of the areas like the Hidden Valley lake area. That is going on for the next half hour or so. But watch as it will be widespread going until about 8 00 this evening. Where it extends all the way in to areas farther north and areas again the jerusalem and the rocky fire. And now included in this area i should say their burn area. And that Flash Flood Watch going until 8 00. Well continue to watch theyre the next few hours and continue to follow these thunderstorms as they continue to move southeast. What are the conditions youve been seeing . Quell, it has been raining pet well, its been raining pretty hard. Weve had crews in the fire region and all those communities in middletown, Hidden Valley, patrolling the roads, watching the drainages. So far we have had a lot of rain. Weve had some lightning and thunder, but we have been pretty lucky with respect to any debris flows or mud slides or anything like that. Well scott what is the concern in some of those burnt areas . Are they blocked off . Should residence avoid those areas . The concern as a result of the fire, the soil is basically baked. It doesnt accept water and the water tends to run off of it at a higher rate. A report done by cal fire that expected the percent as a result of the soil conditions. And with a lot of water and, you know, that they are used to this. Again, that we are monitoring it. We are also watching some of the footage over the summer. Ive heard that crews have been proactive in trying to prevent this exact thing from happening, to prevent the runoff. Have you noticed a lot of work crews on the hillside getting ready for their rainy season . Yes, absolutely with the cal fire in some of the creeks where we were able to get their permission and where we were removing dead vegetation and trees that had been burned and dead creating obstruction for us when they started flowing. So yes, absolutely, weve been preparing for this. I think that this particular event kind of caught us off guard. As well as San Mateo County including the battle over their shortterm rental and the city over vrbnb. We are joined by the political analyst. Thanks for being here with us. My pleasure. Lets start with prop f, which has been contentious, like air bnb, break this down for us. It reduces the number of the days for somebody to rent out their place. It adds a number of new restrictions. This has started with all the money being thrown in. Now those people that are against the proposition include the San Francisco democratic party, republican party, and a whole list of people. Because they say that it is too restrictive. It will be interesting to see what comes out of this. Taking away from the Housing Stock from San Francisco and one of the arguments being thrown out. That theres a housing crunch theres a housing crunch in the city and this is a part to blame. More importantly that it is a political argument over how you can compete against hotels and other people in the city. I mean theres a lot of other issues at stake here. Some would argue like uber and the taxi drivers, and those folks should have to play by the same game and have the same rules as hotels would have. Right, keba, that is exactly it. A lot of the times when you go to the polls you dont know about the underlining arguments that goes in to why they end up on the ballot. Wu theres a but theres a lot of advertising and money being put in to this. The race for San Francisco sheriff. And i wrote a list. Hes attached to the stories, then you start thinking about how many other stories that the current sheriff is attached to. We have the patient in San Francisco. And that they could not find it as we have the accusation of the deputies, running a fight ring inside that jail. With their gun and their drivers licenses. And is he going to win tomorrow . And if he does what does that say . Well, they do very well typically, but so high profile and frankly that they know their story that they could be in some trouble and no question about it. Have they known about her with a long history in their Sheriff Department and that she was in that number three spot. The support of the mayor . Yes. The mayor ed lee. And the armed sheriff at one point. No, but she has the credentials, saying hey we need to bring their stability back in the Sheriff Department. Otherwise they are not that person. Where it will be interesting to see where they would go tomorrow, but it is a big thing. How are the campaigns being . Which she has raised more money than he has. Well see how it plays out tomorrow. Does it say it to have the spot of the mayor, for them to go to the polls to say hey, you know, they support it. Ill vote for them. In San Francisco it means more than a lot of the other cities. Certain lit argument over the endorsements and this sort of thing and that for years and years if they would endorse so and so that they were the winners. We are seeing them way more to this as it becomes a trust issue of the Editorial Staff and the newspaper in supporting somebody . And so they would look at that and say i dont know if i buy in to that to go to a different direction. Weve been talking about this far while. But the problem is getting people to care and giving them a chance to actually go to the polls to vote. Yes. That is always the problem. I think that any time that youre in an off year election, not a president ial election that it will be hard to get them out. And to energize them that youll need to find different ways to do that. You talk about the trends before they go. San mateo county tomorrow, mail in ballots only. I mean this is something that we didnt know that it was going on until we started reading up on it. They have about 350,000 registered voters, as they have been mailed ballots. And that is a new thing and now that there are some places for you to go and drop them off and thats the encouragement to fill off your ballots to really take your time. To send it back in. Does that boost their voting or reduces their voting when it comes down . Were not sure yet where it is going. But the world has changed. In that elections. That you have absentee ballots, do you remember those . And kind of in favor of the elderly and the others that couldnt get to the polling stations. And now with their mailin ballots. That everybody has gotten a opportunity to fill it out and now what youre seeing are the numbers coming back from their mailin ballots, that they are practically the same as the poll numbers as well.
