We heard about searchers out in this area east of fremont. Searchers in this area having trouble getting trucks through. Helicopters having issues because of the fog and low cloud. Were still seeing cloud cover out there now. You see all the cloud cover, still some showers and sprinkles coming down. Weve got a lot of rain. This is over the last couple of days. I roughed the numbers out. Theyre evolving, changing. Mount tam about over 6 inches of rain. Thats a half foot of rain in parts of the north bay. Santa cruz mountains, half of foot of rain there. Were looking for livermore with 2 and a half inches of rain coming up to about 80 of rainfall average. San jose an inch and a half over two days. Its been a really productive weather system. Hampering searchers in the area butt very helpful for bay area reservoirs. Whats happening now is were seeing a break in the action. The clouds are moving off to the south and its a stream of moisture goes with it. Here we are, current radar. The afternoon commute right now, nothing like it was last night at this time . Remember last night . That was one of the worst commutes for weather i can remember in a while. This time of rain, youre not getting the radar coverage you might often get because a lot of its the rain is coming out under the radar. Its a drizzle kind of misty deal. So were not seeing a lot of the rain thats actually falling. I know youre seeing some of that right now in the fremont area. And also in the mountains a winter storm warning will go back in to effect for storm number two which rolls in here as we head in to your bay area thursday. Theres a lot going on on the weather front tomorrow morning in oakland. At 6 a. M. Youre at 54 degrees. Showers should be ending for the most part but as we move in to thursday theres more rain in the forecast. When i come back we put it all together for you. Of course were still following the developing story. A small plane that was coming from lincoln near sacramento and heading to oakland went down at around 11 30 this morning. The plane has just been found near fremont. Were still working to learn more details about how it went down but as bill described the weather hampered that search, made it more difficult to find the wreckage but they have found it. Crews are out there trying to figure out what happened and why the plane went down. We have unconfirmed reports at this hour that there was one person aboard that plane but the reports are unconfirmed. As soon as we have more information on this developing story well get it right out to you. The weather definitely impacting air travel, at least at bay area airports and sfo. Lets check in with sfo with our spokesperson doug for the conditions right now. We are still seeing a continuation of some of the rain and especially low clouds and fog. Were continuing to experience delays at sfo. They are averaging about 60 minutes right now. Its primarily affecting short and medium flights but the best advice today if youre traveling out of sfo, check with your airline to verify the status of your flight. We all felt the strong winds coming in this morning. The big problem for you earlier this morning was really the wind blowing in the wrong direction. Is that right . Thats correct. We actually saw that yesterday and that kind of compounded yesterdays delays at fourstar airport to use a different configuration for takeoffs and landing. Were operating under a more normal configuration today. The message is often check with your airlines before you head to the airport. Sometimes passengers dont get that message. Whats the airport doing . Theres only so much room for everyone inside the terminal. Absolutely. Were focused on making sure everybody stays comfortable. A 19yearold in jail after police say he crashed in to car after car, killing someone and speeding off, and they say he had been drinking. Cristina rendon is outside the department with more information on the suspect and also were learning more about the victim. Thats exactly right. Were told the suspects name is Carlos Villalobos of san jose. Hes a 19yearold teenager here. He was the one suspected of driving under the influence last night and he hit six cars and killed one person. I want to show you some video that we found today. This is at the intersection of singleton and center road. Its where neighbors placed holiday flowers and a cross because that is where one person died. Where the reckless drive by villalobos ended when he ran a red light and hit a yellow volkswagon beetle and another car at the same intersection. Were told the driver of the vw was killed and today authorities identified him as 36yearold Carlos Torres of san jose. Prior to that Fatal Crash Police say villalobos caused several hit and runs along capitol expressway and center road. In all six cars were hit at four different locations. Terrible. Drinking and driving, the guy should have known better. Took away a life, so young. Were told villalobos is being held in the Santa Clara County jail on dui and hit and run charges. Its possible he could appear in court as early as tomorrow and also possible he could face a vehicular manslaughter charge. Thats something the das office is likely working on as we speak. So many cars, the damage was more than a block long after what happened in las vegas with that woman running down 36 people, any idea of what happened there . Any accusations that perhaps this was in some way possibly intentional . I think its too soon to tell right now. Weve reached out to police to try to get more answers from them. At this point we dont know. Its very possible it could be the case but it would be too early to speculate. Without knowing from investigators known if it was intentional or not but it definitely was reckless. Cristina rendon live in san jose for us. We want to go back to our top story right now. We have a plane crash. It was just located near fremont. On the phone with us is Aisha Knowles from the alameda Fire Department. Can you tell us what we know at this point . Hi. Information is very limited at the moment so a search team comprised of Alameda County firefighters and Alameda County sheriffs deputies located wreckage, the single engine plane that was last reported to be in distress off of [ inaudible ] in Alameda County. Do we know who was on the plane . Indicated it was just one person, the pilot. The only information we have at this time is that there was one person in the plane. As far as who the individual is, we dont have any of that information at the moment. And you say the plane was in distress. What do we know about that . Had they been in touch with the airport . Had they actually put out the mayday call . Or what can you tell us . We dont have information on a mayday call. The last known information that we have that was shared with us from the air Traffic Control officials is that the person on the plane reported having engine trouble and then air Traffic Control lost contact with them. How difficult weve talked about this a little while ago. The weather. How did that hamper the search efforts to find the wreckage of the plane . As you know its been raining off and on for the last couple of days. The terrain in the unincorporated county is brushy terrain. Visibility has been low today and unfortunately a search by air was what available to firefighters or Law Enforcement officials. So the search for the plane had to be by ground. I know you just found the plane a little while ago, a difficult search. How close have they gotten to the record jet . Is there any possibility at all someone could have survived that . It is my understanding that the scene is transitioning to the Alameda CountySheriffs Office as a recovery effort rather than it being a rescue. I just got reports that we do have one firefighter that has suffered an injury. I dont know any specifics related to the injury. But thats all i have at this moment. Army Sergeant Bowe bergdahl faces a judge for the first time on his charges of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. In 2009, the 29yearold disappeared from his post in afghanistan and was held by the taliban for five years. In 2014 the u. S. Released five Guantanamo Bay detainees in exchange for bergdahls freedom. Officials later found out he had simply walked away from the base. Today he appeared before a military judge in a fort bragg courtroom but he did not enter a plea. The judge explained Sergeant Bergdahls right to be tried before a panel or a military judge. The judge also inquired if Sergeant Bergdahl wished to enter any motions or a plea at this time. Sergeant bergdahl deferred all of these decisions to a later hearing. Bergdahls court date is now set for january 12th. He could get life in prison if convicted. Were looking at a Weather Forecast that includes more showers as we head in to the next 36 hours which means some rain just before Christmas Eve and perhaps a little after that. There are the clouds out there now. We have seen some breaks in the cloud cover, the sun has come out. Thats been great. Drying out a little bit after some significant rainfall. We talked about over a half foot of rain in parts of the Santa Cruz Mountains and parts of the marin county headlands. Thats significant. In the mountains ive got reports of 3 to 5 feet of snow over the last two or three days which is great as well. As we look at some of the rainfall totals, well peek at them again. These are roughed out numbers that are kind of rounded out for you, just to give you an idea over the last two days. San francisco, 3 inches. San jose, an inch and a half. The jet stream is now focused a little more to the east of us where the weather will go as we head in to the next few hours. We expect more clearing and in to tomorrow its going to be a nice day. Theres a quick and easy way to tackle some of it. Game notifications. Im getting those constantly. If im playing a game it will constantly get me to come back to the game. Go to settings on your mobile device. Click notifications. Under notifications in the facebook menu theres one called notifications by apps. You can turn off specific apps so they dont keep sending you stuff. You can certainly keep some without having to turn them all off. Lets say youre getting notifications from other apps. You can click that on the right hand corner, theres an arrow. You can hide notifications from that app. If youve got a friend whos constantly asking you to give them more lives in candy crush or bejeweled, you can stop those notifications. Where do we go . Go in to facebook, settings part. Click notifications. Then youre going to click notifications from apps. What are other ways we can customize our news feed . You can add, lets say youve got certain friends you like to hear from all the time but theyre getting buried in the chronological order. In Facebook Settings under news feed preferences you can tag certain friends as your most important friends and all of their posts will show up first rather than being buried down at the bottom. What about when it comes to Facebook Messenger . I hate Facebook Messenger. I like having only one app. I dont want three apps doing the same thing. Use facebook. Com paper. What this does, its a cool app, it takes over your facebook app instead and its got a side scroll. It blocks things like ads, but it also gives you the messenger in the app. You like that. I love it. Go to facebook on your mobile app and use it that way and use it in a private browsing mode. Youll get less ads. Its a lot lighter weight. It also doesnt take up a lot of space in terms of saving stuff on your phone. It does take up a lot of space. What is it storing . It stores things like photos, different news feeds, different stories, that way it can be quick access, especially if youve got a slow internet connection. It starts at 96 megabytes.
