KTVU KTVU Fox 2 News At 4pm February 2, 2016

I thought, how is this going to work out . I trust the guys that we have an excellent crew. When i saw you, i was watching you. I appreciate it. At nine a. M. Watching you and and it looks wonderful. And we have had a lot of fans to come to the window and say hi. We love it from San Francisco to the south bay. Superbowl 50 Opening Night. Ak amedia day and sports director mark ibanez and joe fonzi joining us from outside sab center. Take it away. A couple of first, mike, to get out of the way. First time media day turn in tonight on a monday. Usually on a tuesday afternoon and it is usually at the stadium where the event is going to happen. A little different because we are the bay area and we do things differently. It is called Opening Night. It used to be called media night. We can shoot there because it is exclusive television rights. All of those kind of things and we have seen a dramatic change. We were talking about how many superbowls have we seen and this is my 8th. We are neutral parties. Interesting. I have never had a superbowl experience where i dont have a rooting interest. Nothing against denver or carolina. I dont care who wins. I want big stuff and we are outside where the sharks play and the sap center and joe and i also talking about how things have changed with this event in january of 85 with a flawless center, the 49ers hosted if you will the superbowl against dan marino across the Pacific Miami dolphins and looking at old shots and media day, they different allow fans in. It was low key. And today that particular year, that was the first one we worked on media day and the af c was at the Oakland Coliseum and the 49ers at candle stick park. We shuttled and i remember it was freezing at the on coliseum and warmed up that afternoon at candle stick but you had to go to the bay. And fast forward to the 2002 season and this was interesting superbowl to cover. Because it was the first one after 911 and the security clamps came down and it was loosey, goosy and people in costumes and things uptight and was not your usual experience and media day reflected that. More conservative. I have never seen as much security as we have seen. If you harken back to that superbowl, the story line, remember then, that was john gruden coaching with tampa bay and then the raiders and three years we were in new orleans with the 49ers and the ravens. Back to the party spirit. It had been 20 years since we were in new orleans and 300 credential media and last year 3000 media and thats how it has changed. We expect more of the same. The Denver Broncos coming in at 5 15 followed by carolina and we will join the big old cal line. It will take us in the building and the next report at five will have plenty of what it looks like inside. We will see folks at five, six, seven, ten, all day long. And all week. All right . Right. Wait a second. Mark and joe, i have only covered one superbowl in glendale and phoenix. Media day. It was crazy. You have to wonder what the players think about it . What do the players think about it . The players at this point, number extremely happy to be in the superbowl. This is the part of the week where they can have fun. Remember last year Marshawn Lynch i am only here so i wont get fined and back in 69, joe namuth predicting a win. I think the players like it because the real pressure and anxiety sets in, joe. It is interesting to see the guys anonymous that dont have anybody around them and they hang out together. There will be four or five of them. Guys on the practice squad and they go nobody wants to talk to me. We have a break because joe is near a Shopping Mall and he has to get the pants. The verchai pants. Thats all he has talked about. My advice stop making those. Joe fonzi you can pull it off if anybody can. I dont know. Thanks for joining us. A pleasure. With us is mr. Sal castaneda. You have been busy. I have been watching you since nine a. M. This morning. I you him at five a. M. You have been up early. And you know what i noticed there is a big change in the traffic pattern and people are adjusting quite nicely. The commute to San Francisco in the morning starts earlier. By the middle of the day it has died out and more people using bart and the ferry. We have new numbers. All of the muni stations doubled their normal ridership. As a matter of fact the pal street station saw more riders saturday than any other day. If you are coming downtown on muni. Some of the surface buses running. Security is present on the train and some random have been performed. Not adding time to the commute. Bart is experiencing high relationship. This saturday 279 thousand people rode bart that made it 2nd highest relationship on a saturday. The only time that they did better was for a giants playoff game in 2012. It was in all for the weekend, 500,000 riders. A lot and San Francisco, bart has had a lot of practice with big events in San Francisco. As many people know, we are not able to add trains to the schedule but what we are able to do is add cars to the trains and make them longer for extra capacity to carry people. All right. So we have seen jammed ferries and more people avoiding the streets. You cant get past embarcadero. I saw a friend that doesnt take the ferry and said i am not driving. We have had a lot of first time ferry riders and bart riders and so far it is okay. Thats the way to go. You want to come here and experience the superbowl city. You have to take public transportation. The normal thing to come to your spot and have your car towed. I am not sitting in traffic for an hour. Have fun. I know when the ferry ride this morning it was crisp outside and cold. Lets check in with meteorologist rosemary orozco. She is joining us with more on the forecast. Hey, rosemary orozco.
