A short while later the suspect a 38yearold came out of the car with his hands up and was taken into custody. Police say they decided to wait until they safely disarmed him of a gun and two nights before moving in. The negotiations went on around 19 hours with him. Some might ask why so long and the reason is preservation of life. We are here to preserve everybodys life no matter what they do and we want to get him in coughs with no one injured or hurt or killed. Reporter police say a day earlier this suspect shot and killed a 47yearold woman and walnut creek near the lindsay wildlife experience. Police said the suspect and homicide victim were in a dating relationship. When police first stop the mercedes last night, the suspect was in the passenger seat and the driver who was a friend of the suspect left the car and was detained and then released by police. The suspect stayed in the car overnight. In this video from earlier this morning, police say the suspect accidentally fired his pistol blowing out the windshield. The suspect at times held a gun to his head. Police shot him with a nonlethal sponge round when he tried to get a bottle of water. Later this afternoon about 1 45 to drop the gun out of a car window. Police used a robot to retrieve it. He also throughout two knives and then the swat team him out of the car with tear gas. The suspect is being held on suspicion of murder. The 47yearold woman that he is accused of killing has not been identified. Streets around this area are closed for one more hour. That is the latest. Ktvu fox2 news. Reporter yes, the message today was clear that the city of san jose and the Santa Clara Valley waller just Water District want to make sure a flood that they are cleaning up here does not happen again. This was a change from the fingerpointing of the past. City officials stated they have no plans to sue the Water District. Today was about joint resolutions including an emergency acted action plan. Also establishing flood barriers and vegetation removal. Those fixes will necessarily prevent another flood and coyote creek. A bigger project will take funding and a regulatory approval. Water officials are heading to washington to begin having those conversations. 20 years ago they denied the project along rock spring rocksprings. Were very aware of the regulatory barriers. The bigger issue is are we going to start . You can only get there by taking the first step and is critical that the Water District with the city take that first step. The Emergency Action plan will be completed by october and then implemented by mid december. The idea is to have something in place before the next rainy system. It is friday. Reporter there was a major delays for bart commuters this morning after a new part train stalled overnight during a test run. The disabled train was being pushed by an older trained to the maintenance yard. Regular trains had the singletrack around and causing delays for morning commuters. Matthews Episcopal Day School was arrested. He is accused of directing and female students to pose suggestively and then took photos. Now he faces 16 felony counts. Reporter schools are considered safe havens here in san mateo. Over a span of four months a preschool teacher was taking part in illegal activities and the children had no idea. A fiveyearold does not know what he was doing was wrong. Anytime it happened the children, i find this a discussing act. Reporter the das office arrested anthony the 33year old is accused of posing five female students in a provocative way and snapping photos of them on his cell phone. Prosecutors say on one occasion he gave a girl clothing to wear. The children range in age from five to eight. Every time you get a case that involves a teacher we realize were dealing with a violation of the deepest trust a parent can have. They gave this small child to the teacher trusting he would protect and not harm him. An eightyearold told her parents and hes facing charges that enclose using a minor include he worked as an afterschool care teacher. None of this was expected. None of this was ever thought about. The head of school road student safety is our top priority. When we learned a teacher may have engaged in inappropriate contact we notified the Police Department and removed the teacher from school. He was employed there for less than three years and underwent an extensive background check it was a big surprise. We are doing the best that we can to recover and keep the kids happy. Reporter he did not touch the girls and are investigating if any of the photos were shared on chopper not freeze child pornography sites. According to the Bay Area News Group the school discovered and Instagram Account that contains sexually explicit pictures of students. The principal emailed a letter to parents telling about the incident to police. This follows a series of races incidents at school. Some students its always good to have an open line of communication between schools and parents but who should be responsible for monitoring students on social media . As a parent it depends on where are your kids. If they are just starting off in social media, role model and show them what are appropriate ways to share information and what information is safe to share. Also calling out when you see things happening inappropriately but not just saying, oh thats wrong but bring in your ideals and values and be able to define why its wrong and not okay to give them a sense of empathy so they know it could affect more than one person. We should be thinking about the way we affect each other online as well as in person. I think a lot of kids these days dont understand how permanent their posts are. Parents have to become more social media savvy and get involved in their childs activity whether that be sharing passwords or access to their pages correct. It is about making sure your child is ready for that kind of independence. It is appropriate for kids to thrive and be independent but they need guidance on how to do it first and make sure they are empowered to think critically about how to use these tools and be open for when they run into something uncomfortable that they can come to you when those issues arise. What kind of roles do you think the school should play quick when i think about social media, the conversation should be ubiquitous like the tool. School should be providing some education. They are providing access to these tools and encouraging kids to collaborate with each other so they should set the foundation for good communication using these tools with social media for the classroom and personal use. When we saw what happened with those photos discovered by school administrators, do you think they are equally as responsible as parents are quick i think it depends on when they found out about the information. They went onto the codes and conduct and address the issues. Recognizing that when something does happen that may not have happened on School Grounds but on school issued devices, they have to take responsibility and address the issues and support everyone. Is not going to be easy but the conversation needs to be half a and use this as an opportunity to look at what are ways to appropriately address these issues . What should we be sharing and not sharing . Understand the sense of empathy that that was someone else on the other end and that will affect them in a certain way. Not to sensitize from the screen. So take the. 7 we are unhappy with and the 4. 1 that were very happy with and were on a 2. 2 run rate which is a little higher than what the feds are expecting. If we end up at a 2. 1 overall gdp for the whole year it would be okay. We needed 3 to be good. The president said that during his campaign for . It would be impossible to take us from 2 to 4 . The economy has to be further stimulated and we wont see the results of that if it actually is passed until 2018. It takes a year. Reporter we have to be patient. Our economy is doing okay.
