From morgan hill up and the yellow areas, pretty aggressive. 2 an inch per hour. Doesnt sound like a lot but it is. Pretty aggressive rainfall rate. You may see an inch an hour. Quarter inch, thats not bad. So Portola Valley seeing the heaviest rain. Here we are out in los gatos and heavy rain falling there. Creeks are coming up. A lot of standing water on the roadways. With all the rain weve been getting theres real concern of flooding in parts of the bay area. Tom vacar continues our weather coverage tonight in Pleasant Hill where there are concerns about the water levels rising. Take a look at this. This is murd ers creek in Pleasant Hill. It was dry all spring. Bone dry all summer. Dry all fall unit till just a few days ago and now it is flowing freely like hundreds of other creeks that were bone dry. The fact of the matter is a pound of prevention now to prepare for flooding could be tons of problems solved later. Reporter many recently dry creeks are now flowing. Chairman said el nino may soon deliver an unwanted christmas present. Too much water. Three things happening this week. King tides on top of the fact that water levels are already 9 to 12 inches higher because of the warming of the water due to el nino. Then if we get storm surges due to extra rain, you have this potential perfect storm. Reporter the county will be depending on residents to do both their legal obligations and some community service. Most of the creeks in contra costa county, over 95 of the creeks are the responsibility of the private homeowner. You need to get out in to your own creek. That means removing downed trees, dead vegetation. Reporter in that community spirit, cleaning debris from around storm drains and inlets. If you have an inlet in front of your house, we expect you to help us out. We cant be everywhere at every time. We want you to clean the inlets, the leaves off the inlets. That could also include trash or whatever else is clogging the inlets. Reporter be prepared to resist local flooding. There are six sand bag filling stations around the county for residents to access free of charge at each station. Bring a shovel. Bring some gloves. If you need help, bring somebody who can help you fill and load the sandbags on to your vehicle for you. Reporter and have a family emergency flood plan. Sit down with your families and talk about your plans and educate each other about what needs to get done. There have been many deaths over the years of people who get caught up in these creek flows and its just a terrible situation so make sure that what you do is if you see somebody around a creek or canal and they shouldnt be there, call 911. State regulators say one season of el nino wont be enough to replenish parched soil and theyre anticipating a fifth year of drought. Reporter saturday afternoon the family took off in their private plane, a piper fixed wing aircraft from san joses reed hill view airport bound for las vegas when the pilot called air Traffic Control 10 miles south of bakersfield. Reporter the pilot somehow losing control, the plane descending 15,000 feet, crashing in to an Almond Orchard in bakersfield. A spokesman from the National Transportation safety board said the debris field was a halfmile long. Authorities today recovered a tablet similar to an ipad where they will review the planes gps coordinates. At the time the weather was rainy and cloudy. Authorities warned pilots in the area about icing above 5,000 feet but its still too early to tell the cause of the crash. Jason price, the presumed pilot, worked as an engineer at Genesis Solutions based in connecticut. The company sending us this statement in part, jason was an associate of our organization and a valued and loved team member. Were mourning this tragic loss. The ntsb will continue investigating at the scene of the crash for the next few days before they take the wreckage to a nearby hangar and attempt to reassemble the plane. They hope to have preliminary reports in seven to 10 days. In gilroy, azenith smith, ktvu fox 2 news. A judge in Riverside County denied bail today for enrique marquez. Hes the man accused of buying rifles in the San Bernardino shootings. The 24yearold marquez arrived in court this morning. His attorney argued his client had voluntarily spoke one the fbi for days before his arrest and that the weapons were purchased for attacks planned years ago that never happened. The judge said marquez presents a danger to the community and ordered him held. Marquez could face 35 years in prison if convicted on all charges. Federal authorities are asking for the publics help in finding a man who planted a skimming device at a safeway in walnut creek. A store clerk saw him removing a skimming device from under his jacket and installing it at a checkout stand. The store says it was quickly removed before any consumer data was compromised. Safeway found another skimming device at a store in dublin boulevard in dublin. Investigators say it was installed by another suspect on the same day and they believe the two cases are connected. Raymond shrimp boy chow took the stand today. He was arrested along with state senator leland yee after an interrogation. Tara moriarty joins us with more on what happened on the stand. We spoke to the defense attorney for shrimp boy and he said he believes his client is really resonating with this jury. Their strategy is to sort of show what a straight shooter Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow really is. He was dressed in a burgundy shirt and pink suit which he said he bought at goodwill. He was very candid. San Leandro Police are using surveillance cameras from Club Caliente in hopes of identifying the gunman who opened fire in the clubs parking lot early this morning. Reporter four people were shot and wounded before 2 a. M. This morning outside Club Caliente in san leandro. The violence broke out as people were heading to their cars in the clubs park ing lot. San leandro has been a shooting. Some sort of an altercation occurred between single gunman and a group of four individuals. At that time the gunman pulled a pistol out and shot each of the four people. Reporter three men and a woman were wounded, mostly in their legs and were taken to local hospitals. Theyre expected to survive. The gunmen fled the scene but police were trying to identify him with the help of witnesses and the Club Security cameras all aimed at the parking lot. Police believe alcohol may have played a role in the shooting. That was 1 55 in the morning after a night of dancing and presumably drinking. Whatever occurred out in the parking lot as the patrons were levering followed by that shooting. Reporter we spoke to a Security Guard at the club. I was working out here and heard shots over there. We went out to check it out and saw some of the guys laying on the ground. Reporter employees say there have been no problems before the shooting and that it all unfolded very quickly. You expect anything but not in this place. This place is very safe and has been very safe. Authorities are trying to determine exactly what led up to the shooting. If they do catch up to him, the suspect could face charges of assault or attempted murder. Food boxes were distributed to low income families today in san jose. It ways day two of a food giveaway program. 50pound boxes of food were given to each family filled with produce, canned goods and fresh poultry. The boxes are meant to provide enough food for christmas and a few days that kids are off from school. You see all that moisture streaming in. Thats a good hate wet pattern. Its a warmer pattern so a lot of the warm air filtering in to the lake tahoe area. Were looking at snow levels that are 6500 feet. I got an actual report, raining at 6500 feet. Problem with that is you dont want the lower snows to melt and run off and not be able to capture it. You want water in the snow pack to stay there. Theres the rain in fremont, san jose. Theres the rain in los gatos. Afternoon commute a bit dicy to say the least. This rain will continue on.
