Who wants to stay in oakland. Well see where the raider nation ends up. Well be working really hard to find aus home. He probably shouldnt have said would he said but i understand, he probably felt that he lost something and was very frustrated. If he would commit to the east bay he would have a lot easier time getting the businesses here to help back him. Reporter fans are cautiously optimistic. The outlook for their team looks a bit like today. Cloudy with some spotty rain and a few glimpses of sun. Hopefully they stay in oakland because a lot of the community really wants them to stay here. So the owners are making great gobs of money. Not mad at you, but you have to pony up if you want a brandnew stadium. When the dust settles i think reasonable heads will prevail and a deal will get done. Reporter it will take some time which for now is something both sides have. Many remain optimistic. Cities are known for their sports teams. Its what gives us an identity, what puts us on the map. There is value in that as well. Reporter so the mayor said theres still lots of work to be done ahead but julie she does believe they can get a daily done, and most importantly get a daily done without doing it on the backs of taxpayers. Noel, mayor shaft has said the deal is more complicated because the city and county own the land. Is there any plan to streamline . Reporter you have three entities basically. The city of oakland and the county of alameda own the land, but tough joint Powers Authority who have jurisdiction as well. Right now the city of oakland is drawing up a proposal to try to bay out the county of alamedas portion so well have to see. But the main thing is maybe trying to streamline this process so you dont have three entities having to make decisions to get anything done, because then nothing gets done. All right, noel, thank you. San diegos mayor says wants a fresh start and will tray to keep the chargers from leaving. He is also pushing for a new stadium deal there. Yesterday the nfl owners gave the chargers up to a year to decide if they want to move to englewood and join the rams in the new stadium there. Right now san diego has a plan on hold to build a new stadium at the current Qualcomm Stadium site. And i strongly believe that we can get this done. We owe it to this community to come together on a fair agreement. So far there is no word from the chargers owner. He and san diego officials have not formally met for negotiations since six months ago. The mayor of san diego sounds almost exactly the same as the mayor of oakland. Want to bring in our sports director. What do you think . I think were seeing a changing of the guard. This is a real obvious piece of evidence that its no longer a game for millionaires. Its all about billionaires. One of the most astute follow verse bay area sports, a guy who has been an executive with the teams, said for mark davis, the current owner, hes basically got three choices. One, he can extend his lease with oakland and the coliseum. Number two, he can basically come to an agreement with the 49ers, play at levi. Or number three, which i think makes the most sense if you think about, sell the team. Mark davis doesnt have the wherewithal to keep the Oakland Raiders. I think he could be one of those guys who has a lifetime box up there and stay involved with the team on a certain level, take a small percentage, and make more money than he could ever dream of, but get a guy like larry eli so in there who can play with the big boys, because i think what you saw yesterday was mark davis almost being bullied by the other owners who have far more money than he does. Yeah, that was what i was curious about. I think alex spanos is worth 1. 1 billion. The owner of the rams is worth 5 billion. And then you have mark davis, several hundred million dollars. Do you think that played a factor in why the raiders were the odd man out yesterday . I dont think theres any question. I think that mark davis basically has the Oakland Raiders as his entity, auxiliary, ancillary forms of income are not there. Its cry when you say mark davis, but comparatively speaking, hes poor compared to these other owners, because his money, hes a millionaire, and its all wrapped up basic well the raiders. And its a big boy game right now. You think about all that money in that room. Its surprising they got done would they did yesterday. Which i think really pointed to the fact that they were sure of what they wanted to do, and that was make sure that the right people were in Southern California and los angeles, and stan kroenke was topping that list. There was little doubt, you saw how the vote quickly changed and all of a sudden it was near unanimous. Real quick, we only after second but do you think theres any real possibility of the raiders ever playing with the 49ers at levi stadium or with mark davis selling the team . I dont think theres really any chance, although it makes a lot of sense financially and responsibilitywise to think that the 49ers and raiders could come to an agreement. I just dont think mark davis would ever do that. I dont think maybe the raiders socalled raider nation would put up with that. But i think its a viable possibility that he could maybe even go so far as to, say, come to his senses and sell the team to somebody who does have the wherewithal to do what these owners in this day and age have the money to do, and thats make the lavish stadiums and all the other things come true for their team and their communities. The guy who owns oracle i hope Larry Ellison is listening right now. Still such a long way to go. But i think in the short term obviously the raiders are going to be here a little while. Thank you, mark. Across the bay the 49ers are still looking for a new head coach to replace jim tomsula. Coming up in 20 minutes, the one candate who is no longer available and the other nail still in the mix. We want to say thank you to you guys. I want to say thank you to the city of oakland, the fire department. I want to say thank you to the police department, paramedics. I want to say thank you everybody. That is a very relieved plumbing foreman thanking crews for rescuing his worker who fell into a trench in east oakland yesterday and was trapped for 13 hours. The 42yearold of hayward was lifted out at about 2 00 this morning. He was alert and responsive and is now recuperating at a hospital. Earlier we spoke to one is of those rescuers, technicians who worked tirelessly for hours trying to rescue esparza. We had a Truck Company lowering us down from that ladder and crews lowering us down, and we were working inside the trench to, a, not only stabilize him to prevent any more engulfment or any more collapse or crush injuries on him, but tolls keep all the rescuers safe. Rescuers made sure esparza was never in distress. They gave him food and water throughout the ordeal and made sure his vitals stayed strong. New information tonight surrounding the discovery of human remains near alamo square in San Francisco. Police now say the bones found in planter boxes outside of an Apartment Building are those of a child and another person whose age hasnt been determined yet. Ktvus Tara Moriarty tells us the bones were also cut, possibly with a saw. Reporter the planter boxes have been removed from the sidewalk where a woman gardening discovered bones in late november. Its really disturbing. Reporter she and other neighbors saw archaeologists sifting through, police just now announcing the remains were human. The bones do belong to an 8 to 14yearold juvenile as well as another person. Were not sure on the second person whether its an adult or juvenile. I walk up and down this hill a lot. Its really scary because i have kids. Police say the bodies were somehow dismembered, perhaps with a saw. The investigation has determined both of these bones were somehow cut. Its still unclear whether or not it was surgical or some other type of method. Reporter investigators have been unable to make a match through dental records so dna will be extracted from the bones and run through the database. Police are looking at cold cases in particular, missing persons and homicides. No telling how long those bones have been there. So its really shocking. Reporter many are wondering if the bones belong to kevin collins. He was 10 years oimed february of 1984 when he disappeared from a bus stop at oak and ma masonic, 13 blocks away. I hope they can find out who the kids belong to so the parents can have closure. Reporter if no match, then the identities could remain for after mystery. Oakland Police Released surveillance of the man suspected of killing a passenger on a bart train at the west oakland station. Ktvus Crime Reporter henry lee is there tonight with the pictures and what police are saying. Henry. Reporter well, frank, these are indeed surveillance pictures of the gunman that bart police say shot and killed a fellow passenger on board a bart train at the west oakland station on saturday night. Now, this happened about 7 45 saturday as the train was headed to San Francisco and was pulling into the west oakland bart station. Witnesses say this man was dressed in a trench coat, boots, and blue jeans, and without warning fired numerous shots at a fellow passenger before disappearing through the train doors. I have learned that this suspect was seen earlier in the day at the pittsburgh bart station, and was last seen at the 99cent store. We spoke to the chief who acknowledges theres a lot they still dont know about the case. They dont know what the victim, they dont know who the suspect, they have no idea what the motive is. Here is what he had to say today. This is a pretty brazen random act. We have a number of bart personnel assigned to patrol every couple of stations. Along with, we have a special team thats funded by the federal government thats responsible for safety and security. Reporter now, barts police chief would not say if actual cameras on board the train captured the shooting. He says these pictures were not released until today because they did not want to taint any statements by witnesses who may have seen what happened. But at if i rate, anyone who may have seen this man or recognizes him from the photos is asked to call bart police. So henry, theyre saying this is a random attack. I guess what strikes me as interesting here if im not mistaken the person who was killed happened to be holding a knife. What would be the chances of that . Reporter yeah, the police chief wouldnt address the knife, but we understand that he may have been armed with a knife. Whether or not there was a confrontation is another matter but we understand there was no argument before the gunman pulled out the gun and started firing. Just a strange story all around. And you have to feel, obviously, for the person who was killed and his family. Henry, thank you. A few more hours to go before you have to figure out what would you do with hundreds of millions of dollars. New at 5 30, a live look as people rush to get in on the Record Powerball jackpot. Iranian state television aired the statement from a man identified as a u. S. Navy commander after two u. S. Ships were said to veer in iranian waters. It was a mistake that was our fault, and we apologize for our mistake. The statement could prove embarrassing for the u. S. As bill mentioned a few moments ago overnight rain meant fresh powder in the sierra. Reporter that storm that brought the heavy rain across the bay area bringing heavy snow to the sierra came in with a vengeance with winds gusting over the sierra crest to near 100 Miles Per Hour here at blue canyon we saw gusts around 30 Miles Per Hour. That has since settled down a little bit. The snow has tapered off just for a little while as we picked up a quick inch, inch and a half of snow with plenty more on the way, the forecast calling for as much as a fat at pass level and two feet at the highest elevation for the ski areas. The snowpack continues to pile up here in the sierra. So if you are heading up to go skiing or snowboarding over the next couple of days be ready for Winter Driving conditions. Make sure you have those chains or fourwheeldrive with some good snow tires as you are going to need them getting through these storms that have lined upbringing some much needed precipitation. Then tomorrow morning in San Francisco the clouds are coming in. By lunchtime, not so bad. As we get into the afternoon hours, just in time for your commute, there we go. Thats San Francisco, but this model would work for all the cities because at 6 00 tomorrow i think its raining across the bay area. As we look at the forecast model, here we are at 5 00 a. M. Tomorrow morning. There it is, boom. Its not a super strong storm but i think we will see a quarter inch of rain, maybe a half inch of rain. Not much different than this last one.
