The man accused of shooting two Police Officers is not the man she knew. She says the family doesnt understand how he ended up here. We did meet briefly with his father and brother that didnt want to comment. Police are still investigating but at this time it is likely that veebray was shot before he entered the house and have not provided a motive for wednesdays shooting. Lee, obviously thats the question, why did he ram the Police Cruiser and open fire. Does his familys relatives, do the family members have any theory on that . Was he afraid that he would be send back to prison, any ideas. His sisterinlaw says that is a possibility and he was on probation and wasnt sure what for. In the past she had heard that he had issues with drugs but as far as she knew she did not know exactly what was going on in his life. She thought he was turning his life around and was a good father. Lee martinez, thank you. Five Hour Police Standoff came to an end in San Francisco with a burglary suspect under arrest. Lets take a listen. We have a whole new class of people called the working poor. That should be an oxymoron. Working poor. Many people are working and yet they are still struggling. And Bernie Sanders proposal to wage the raise to 15 an hour is important. Important to those families, to those individuals and important in terms of putting money in the pockets of people that will spend the money. Texas has been plagued by heavy rainfall and new storm systems moving in can dump additional rainfall making the floodwaters go higher. In richmond texas, Casey Spiegel fox news. A sad situation. I have family that lives in texas and i call them and my mom says it just doesnt seem to stop. Relentless and as soon as they get a break, the flood levels of the brazos river receded and then another storm came and dumped more rain. Did you ever have problems like that. Not anything as significant as this and bill and i were talking yesterday during the four and were saying that records are falling. This is the most rainfall and the wettest month for texas. Really. Yes. I am sure and maybe the wettest year. They are just the records are just plummeting. But in houston it is flat. They have 16inches in 24 hours and about a month ago. And 16inches of water. A lot of urban and a lot of building and concrete and it doesnt have anywhere to go. It is something to see. We have a whole different set of metrics, we are dealing with fire danger. We showed you that in the foot hills near san ramone and i talked about the fog last night but you really dont need to look at the satellite image or anything to know it is hot in the inland bay valleys when you see the fog this low on the Golden Gate Bridge. If you have opportunity or if you are lucky enough to see the coastline from where you live measure the fog against the coastal hills and will you do a forecast temperature for your house given that time of year. I can see a fog bank like that and i guarantee you this time of year you are looking at 100 feet inland. We go back to texas. Is this el nino driven type of thing in dallas and texas . It is. We will push in to here and show you the microclimates and you will find upper 60s and low 70s around the berkeley area and you get over the hill and the numbers start to really take off. You will see i think you might see 100 out there and tomorrow we will be like 88, 89. Not as hot as today. Spare the air day tomorrow, fire danger and thats we are in that time of year and this is what we are talking about. When i come back, we will look at the fiveday forecast and line up your weekend. See you then. Back to the fallout from the violence from the donald trump rally. Things spiraled out of control when trump protestors were attacked. It sparked questions about tactics for policing such events. Jesse gary joining us from San Jose Police headquarters. The chief held a News Conference a short time ago. Can you tell us what he said . The chief talked about the violence and the mayor did and the chief says it is reprehensible and not representative of the city and has established a task force to go after the city. And some of it has been seen on social media. San joses decent from political discourse to chaos was quick and violence. This trump supporter was sucker punched. A reporter record it. I have never seen this level of violence between two factions and i am scared for the person. Social media shutter bugs captured scenes of the melee. The violence terrible. The mayor admitted that he should have had more officers deployed. Officials say they have three day plan and put 250 officers, everyone available for duty on the street for the anti trump demonstration. For the most part most of the five thousand people left without initiative. And critics point to anti trump activists challenge attendees beating and stomping them and this where police were in sight did not interfere. The Police Association says that the San Jose Police department is severely under staffed and that breaking containment lines to rush in and remove a beating victim could have caused more harm. We did the absolute best we could and maintaining with Police Practices because protestors run from street to street and barriers and parking lots does not mean that Police Department will abandon safe procedures for clearing the veiths. The officers cant break the ranks and the lines. In those cases additional force can insight more violence in the crowd. Four people have been arrested so far. One for assault with a deadly weapon. Police say moving forward they will bring in more officers from surrounding jurisdictions and the county to help prevent another night of ferocious street violence. The street has established a four person task force to help track down those accused and also police are asking for any and all video from the public whether you have your cell phone or tablet or gopro. They would like to see it. We are still months away from the general election and i would bet that more of the candidates will be making more stops here in california as we approach the general election. Thats right and the Police Officer association called on the clinton and the sanders camp to try and stop the violence and reign in the supporters because it hurts everyone. They are looking to the next time because the general election is coming up. They had 250 officers. Thats a lot. How many more do you think he could have used. It seems like a lot but according to the police it is a small number compared to other cities. What they are saying is that the Police Department is under staffed compared to other cities and thats why 250 was the max. To beef up that number, they will have aids. County police and maybe a ch p to bring them into the mix and have them help augment their their security lines so arrest teams can make arrests quickly. When you have the 250, that is enough to make sure that violence does not spread to the Convention Center and it gets completely out of hand and thats why the chief is saying more aid and have the arrest teams ready to go and make arrests when they see it happening guys. Jesse, like for us in san jose. Thank you. For continuing election coverage you can go to ktvu. We showed you how Bernie Sanders is speaking at uc berkeley. We will listen. I think that what has happened in recent years and i credit the pope. Pope francis that has talked about the environment and some people that say that Climate Change is a hoax. Their voices are becoming more mute because it is going to the evidence that the people that see with the droughts and the numbers are warmer and that people in my state, we can see changes. I would say that more and more people and especially younger people overwhelmingly believe that Climate Change is real. We do need to impose a tax on this. I know that donald trump lives in his own world but i think that fewer americans think it is a hoax. You have been listening to Bernie Sanders taking reporter questions on the cal campus tom vacar was there. And he joins us like. Tom. And for a switch, he actually arrived a littlbit early that is somewhat unusual for him. No one allowed other than people authorized. A lot of people didnt know that Bernie Sanders was coming here. Because it was not public. When he leaves he will hop in his car outside of the building and be gone but he has a big tall order in front of him and trying to win this primary and other ones. At this point it boils down to a numbers game. As senator sanders moves in on tuesdays primary. The numbers may turn up to be irrelevant. Nbc wall street journal poll shows in california clinton leads sanders 49 to 47 . Usc poll says clinton leads by one percent acknowledge point, 4443. Since both policy are in the margins of error. Statistically the race is a tossup. In pledged delegates sanders lags behind clinton 1501 to 1769 and had you add in the super delegates. Clinton has 2313 just 17 delegates shy of winning the nomination. Clinton could earn all of those from North Carolina next tuesday withr 143 delegates will be decided before californias 548 delegates are chosen. Nonetheless, sanders in fairfield earlier today remains committed to taking his fight all the way to the convention. All of us know that change, real change in this country never occurs from the top on down. It is always the bottom on up. And thats what this campaign is about. But mr. Sanders has this problem. He has to have a situation where he basically turns over the congress to democratic both in the senate and in the house of representatives. But in 2014, 9 six percent of all incumbents elected. A tall order. Otherwise facing gridlock as president obama has faced gridlock for the last six years. Tom vacar. The contra costa fair is under way in martinez and that is not the only thing to do.
