So frightened. You got her . Okay. She went under the house. I dont know what we will do about her. Reporter they couldnt catch one cat so they left food and water behind. Emotionally draining. Reporter here is why, they had to wait in this line for hours for an escort back to the house just like hundreds of other people. I am exhausted. I am fried. Reporter have you slept . I dont need a lot. I got 4 hours last night. The first time i was up for 36 hours straight. Reporter back here in middletown, with the help of firefighters they found a selection of coins. One woman could not believe her good fortune when she made it to find that her house was Still Standing untouched by the flames. I am so happy. I thought i lost my wedding ring. My pictures. I am so happy. You can hear the crackling in this video released by the fire department. It shows the crew working to save this home. This video was taken sunday morning and was shared on facebook. You can see the firefighters breaking through a fence and putting water on burning debris and they put out the flames on the awning. Look how much fire there is. They were able to save that house. Incredible when you see all the images from the fire zones and see what the firefighters were up against and to see elation from those who had their homes saved. Now families are looking through video for clues about what may have happened to their loves ones. Her husband lived in the area, their home gone. She says she last spoke to him saturday afternoon as the flames were approaching the house. The last time they spoke he sounded scared and didnt know which way to go to avoid the flames. I have a feeling he took the car off to the side votes and hiked out. I am wondering side streets and hiked out. I am wondering if he is still in the mountains there. I am hoping he is alive. Reporter she contacted the Sheriffs Office to let them know he is missing but still hasnt had any word. One of the things we talked about was make sure you stay in touch with me and he said he would. If he got out he would call me. Reporter inside the Evacuation Center at the fairgrounds this board is a popular stop. She lost her home in the fure. She is hoping in the fire. Reporter havingers say the first investigators say the first step is to notify the Sheriffs Office dispatch center that someone is unaccounted for. That way they can launch the investigation. The winds promoted the fire, it went in so many directions. It is making it difficult to get the containment lines in. We are at 67,000 acres. 15first contained. 15 contained. We have a northwest wind. Which is promoting the fire still. We had the fire come across the line in the southern portion this afternoon. Probably 4 00 p. M. Or so. And it burned 200 acres without a problem. We got lines around it. The fire is still prominent. We cant get into that sense of falsehood. We need to be prepared. Right now the focus is on the fire fight. Do you have information on what caused the fire . No. It is still under investigation. It takes time to get everything resolved. Nothing else on it started in an outbuilding . At this point, the first dispatch was for a structure fire. However when the first units got there it was a vegetation fire. It was avageitation fire when a vegetation fire when it did start. All the people still unaccounted for, do you think that when all is said and done the death toll will go up . It is hard to say. I mean, we have to be realistic. The fire went through the area so fast, the firefighters spent the first day in rescue mode along with Law Enforcement agencies. Getting the folks out as fast as they could. It is hard to say. Time will tell. We have a lot of time left to go. The fire moved in a southerly direction, is that what your main focus is right now or are you concerned about it shiftingane different direction shifting in a different direction. Good point. The two fires were topography driven. Didnt have much wind. This fire had the same components but then you add the 20 Miles Per Hour winds, that fire took off and burned in this way 40,000 acres, burned in 10 hours. All right. The School Superintendent told us lake port, upper lake, and lucerne schools will be own tomorrow and the district is working with families that lost their homes. Parents today said the disaster left a lot of uncertainty about the future. I have been a big fan of life experiences. They are getting a lot here. They are learning a lot here. And the books will wait. The middletown School Superintendent says she expects schools to open soon. Officials say it is a miracle none of the schools were destroyed. Pg e is making a sizable donation to help the fire victims. They are donating 450,000 to the red cross to assist those who have been evacuated during the wildfires. The fire destroyed 166 homes. Many people dont know if their homes are standing. We just received an update from cal fire. The butte fire is now 40 contained. Crews making progress. In the 7 days since the fire started 71,000 acres have burned. I always the earthquake was nothing compared to this. Leaders in Alameda County are feeling pressure to revisit a contract wacompany that with a company that provides healthcare to inmates at the jail. 40 protesters rallied today and then went inside to give supervisors an ear full about the death of a former inmate. 2 investigates exposed questions about whether he received proper treatment for a nasal condition in the months before he died from an asthma attack. Now his mother wants the county to cancel its contract with the jails healthcare provider. I cant bring my son back. My grandchildren without their father but i can fight for him for what is right. This is a preventible death. They say he received appropriate and necessary care prior to his death. Ktvu contacted each of the supervisors over the past few weeks to get a response but none of them commented so far. Supervisors voted today to set up a commission to address issues in the jail. The commission would review accountability and training of the staff. They are also asking for more surveillance cameras in the jails and a hot line for inmates. Officials with San Francisco Sheriffs Office showed us a program to help inmates improve their lives once they get out of jail. The city jail begun a program, it combines hydro ponic with fish farmer. Right now 20 inmates are inrolled in the program and the Sheriffs Department toll inrolled in the program and the severe thunderstorm. I am making my Business Plan and mission statement.
