Reporter the cad system has been working on and off through wednesday and went down on thursday for a couple of hours. To make matters worst Police Radio System went down thursday. When cad is down, everything has to be done by hand including taking down info from 911 calls. That causes delays because dispatchers have to walk to their colleagues to deliver information. And dispatchers cant look at information that the officers are going to. It is riskier to make stops if the license plates cant be run. The department is transitioning to a new system. The city was able to use that system as a backup. We caught up with the mayor to ask what the city is doing about this. The good news is that when the radios went out we were able to get on the system and get everybody out in the field safely and in communication and thats the people solution that we are making great progress towards. The mayor acknowledged the officers that says they are tired of break downs that jeopardize the safety.
