The smoke affected traffic along interstate 80 for several hours. And the exit for cherry glenn road was closed. Were told about 30 acres burned. No word yet on how that fire started. Firefighters say the weather today actually helped a bit but the fire danger is expected to increase over the weekend. Chief meteorologist bill martin here with how hot it is going to get. It is going to get hotter. You probably remember that fire a few years ago in vacaville, fairfield. The winds typically this time of day, the winds were howling. The winds werent doing that. Is that the one that was coming up a bluff . It was blowing, kind of like by skandia on 80. The point being the winds helped out a lot. The temperatures warmed a little bit. But whats happening is kind of a double edge sword, because the wind helped out, but its going to happen with the wind dying down the humidities are decreasing, the temperatures are increasing, and so is your fire danger. Firefighters hate wind, as you know. But the wind today, not having it there was so helpful. Its going to get hotter and were going to see very dry conditions. As we look to the coast that cooling mechanism thats going to moisten things up, its not happening. Look at the fog footprint right now. Its barely there. So tomorrow, saturday, warmest day of the week, sunday is going to be hot, but were going for a multiple stretch day of days with heat, and we will have more problems with bay area fires. Theres no fire weather warning but it is late july, it is hot, and the fuel moise tiewrs are down in the teens, which is very, very dangerous. So as we move into the weekend thats what were looking forks concerns for fire. Bill, thank you. As a reminder you can download the fox 2 weather app for very latest on the conditions where you late.
