Kayleigh slushers body was found in a suitcase after being placed in a freezer. She died of Blunt Force Trauma after being stomped and punched. They say it was probably not a difficult decision for the juries. I think at the end of the arguments, that jury well could have raised their hands and said we dont have to go back in the jury room. Reporter this is where Authorities Say the San Jose State University student was found by a citizen around 10 00 friday night who called 911 after finding the College Student running along highway 101 and this road. She was reported she had been taken from knife point in her apartment complex in san jose. And, she was able to make an escape from her abductor where the car ran out of gas. Reporter the 24yearold woman told them friday morning she was forced at night point by a man she did not know to drive her own car more than 500 mile miles from san jose and only managed to escape when the car ran out of gas in oregon, a two hour drive from the california state line. She said when the car came to a stop after running out of gas, she was able just to get the door open and just bolt from the car and she just ran into the brush. And hid. A boy is thrown from a slide at an east bay water park. 2 investigates tells us how the accident has now opened up a much bigger procedure. New developments after this accident over the weekend. A tenyearold boy was launched off a three story slide and onto the concrete in the opening day of dublins new water park. The Safety Investigation is stretching beyond the bay area. Candace is here with more. Reporter the department is now looking into 30 water slides across california. This to try and rule out whether there is a bigger issue with these slides known as speed slides. It is is a process that could take days or weeks. The tenyearold boy involved suffered on scratches standard after going down an open water slide and flying out to the side. This happened on opening day at the wave water park in dublin on the ride called the emerald plunge. After the accident, they investigated a water park in concord to examine two other speed slides made by the same manufacturer white water west industries. According to cal osha, there are 25 speed slides across california made by that company. Investigators are planning to take a closer look at all of them. 2 investigates on april 4, almost two months before the accident in dublin. They found several issues with the emerald plunge slide. A crack in the ride. Last friday, one day before the park opened, they cleared the issues writes no safety hazards were observed. That green lighted the ride for the public to use. They are still investigateing the cause of the accident and are looking into all the possibilities incluing water levels they say the bulk of ride related accidents they receive are reports from water park. It is still so hard to watch. As far as we know, this is the only incident involving this company in california or are there others . We dont know that just yet. It is very early in the investigation. That company that made this slide also made about dozens more across the state. And right now, cal osha is going around checking the slides and checking the exact records. This happened on the first day of the opening here, are they doing anything to change that as a result of what happened . Reporter i think they are still in the process. They are looking to see if it is isolated. And, i have no idea if this was part of a bigger issue. It is very early. They have had this slide problem across parts of california . Reporter it just means it goes down fast. This one is unusual in that it is 80degree angle. A very steep slide. The other slides, they are only 30 degree angles. So that is a steep one. It workers have filed a lawsuit against the university of california alleging discrimination. The Novato School board is expected to vote on a controversial issue that has divided neighbors in the community. High School Coaches want outdoor lights so students can have games, matches, and practices in the evening. There are four teams trying to use the field with very limited daylight. Reporter he, like other neighbors say the light and extra noise will be a game changer for this quiet neighborhood. The lights will alter forever the quality of life in this open space neighborhood. Reporter earlier this month, the Novato Unified School District school board approved the Environmental Impact report on the lighting clearing the way for a final vote. The project entails light poles 80 feet tall. They plan to raise half of the money for the project. It is very hot in novato. Having practices later in the day is a health and safety related issue for us. It is important for the kids to be able to practice in cooler weather. Reporter but neighbors say the lights could be on almost half the year and have banned together to try to stop it. You wont be able to see the sunsets or the stars. It will be dramatically different. They will find it is not as intrusive as they fear it will be. Reporter if the School Board Approves the lighting it could be up and running in about two years. It happened about 3 40 this afternoon. A man was shot sitting inside a vehicle and died later at a hospital. The investigation is just beginning and a search is underway for the shooter. We are learning more about two teenagers killed in a crash in alameda. Both victims were students at a high school that has seen this kind of tragedy before. Henry lee reports. Reporter a memorial of flowers and candles sits outside alameda bicycle marking the spot where a truck full of young people crashed on memorial day. Two of the seven people in the truck died. Briana ortega and simon sotelo. Both were 17. The others were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from serious to critical. Alameda police says the driver of the gmc truck ran a red light at high speed and clipped a mini van. The driver of that sufficiented minor injuries. But the impact caused the truck to roll over several times before it crashed into a sign post and tree outside alameda bicycle a block away. Briana died at the scene. She was a senior for the Dakota School of independent study. Simon died at the hospital. Simon was a great kid. He loved playing football. He went out for the football team. He was a big kid.
