A major transit hub was evacuated this morning. Police are still asking people to steer clear of Union Station after a man stabbed a woman at the amtrak station this morning. The suspect was then shot by a security guard. Both people are expected to survive. The stabbing is believed to develop from a domestic dispute. This drew a huge police response. Another security stair involved a plane headed to San Francisco from germany. We have pictures of the plane at frankfurt airport. Flight 902 with more than 300 people on board was canceled due to security disruptions at about ten mights into the flight ten minutes into the flight. United saidthy turned the plane said they turned the plane around at the direction of german officials. People are pausing today to reflect on the september 11th attacks 14 years ago, remembering those who died and honoring those who helped save lives. The ultimate sacrifice was made by 343 firefighters that day. Reporter in union city at a ceremony there, it was about remembering the heroes of flight 93. Since the memorial was completed in 2007, hundreds have paid respects. This was the first time, though, for those flight attendants who remember that day also. We were at the airport the entire day and every day the airport was closed for four, five days after that. We were there morning, noon and night. Reporter several people that remember that day say its important for the Younger Generation to remember what happened. Those moments are frozen in time. We need to be back here every year to freeze that moment in time for the next generation. Reporter a day many of us remember, a day we will never foreforget forget. Back to you. First responders who died 14 years ago in the attacks were remembered in the south bay earlier this morning. [bell tolling] this bellringing ceremony was held at fire station 1 marking the moment a hijacked plane hit the First World Trade Center tower. More than 400 First Responders including 343 new york city firefighters were killed when they rushed to that disaster scene. Today nonprofit groups are honoring the spirit of giving. Janine de la vega shows us how people in the south bay are paying it forward. Reporter they look like car expecters and land carpenters and landscapers but most of these people have desk jobs. Today they rolledup their sleeves to help strangers. They make you it makes you feel so good on such a sad day. If you want to say no to the people that did such terrible things to us, give it to them by saying were gonna keep helping the community and not let this hold us down. So many people stepped up to assist those in the line of duty in the days following 9 11. We want to own that date. We want to own that date as a day not only where we remember and honor but where we reclaim it and we serve. Its a great opportunity for people in the community to reclaim the day, give back to the community, make positive things happen and feel great in the process. Reporter these volunteers are helping beautify a nonprofit connected to our Guadalupe Church in san jose. Theres a lot of weed and no gardens but they are building benches and planting trees. They have a food bank and after school program. So its important to make this area feel inviting. These volunteers were among hundreds who dame together to came together to participate in this national day of service and remember as. America reporter the united way brought together volunteers from lowell businesses in front of city hall local miss businesses in front of city hall. Well have teams around the community.
