The teen is being charged as an adult. He allegedly lured maddie into his apartment, carried out the attack and put her body in a dumpster. The crime devastated the Beach Community and shocked neighbors who knew Adrian Gonzalez as a gentle kid. Friends say he was contemplating suicide and was depleased depressed. I have forgiven him. I dont you know, i dont have any illegal and, you know things are gonna work themselves out. Reporter middleton said the support has been amazing. Traffic is flowing normally right now on a busy east bay freeway after it was shut down this morning after a deadly Chain Reaction crash. It happened at about 4 40 a. M. On southbound interstate 680 just south of Bollinger Canyon road in san ramon. The chp says that a car hit a big rig, then spun out in the middle of the freeway. A motorcycle then slammed into the car. The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene. No one else was hurt. The truck hit the Center Divide and caught fire. Two other vehicles crashed trying to avoid the wreck. Only one lane was open during the investigation. All lanes will reopen just before 9 00 a. M. Now to the valley fire. Fire officials raised the numbers of destroyed to 162. That brings the total to 1,000. The fire has burned through almost 76,000 acres and this morning it was 70 contained. As ktvus alex savidge reports, fire Officials Say the valley fire is now the fourth worse wildfire in california history. Reporter well, the valley fire swept through with such little warning. There are so many homes lost. Nobody is faulting the firefighters. Look at this sign. It says, thank you, firefighters. We know you tried. Everywhere you go in the Community Today you see signs of appreciation for the hard work the thousands of firefighters still on the front lines, battling this fire. Damage assessment teams have been working to get an accurate count on how many homes burned. Calfire believes 1,050 homes were destroyed in middletown and the surrounding communities. That new assessment makes this the fourth worse wildfire in california history. There were close to 20,000 people initially ordered to evacuate and many of them stayed in shelters for more than a week. Finally this past weekend, the people of middletown were allowed to return back home and people who live in some other communities went back home as well. We talked with one family in middletown who came back to find their home the only place Still Standing on the street. We finally got home and so releashed relieved. Sad to see, we saw people who were close neighbors. It wont be the same but were all very close. They will rebuild. Reporter to help house those who lost everything in the fire, the twin pine casino has opened up 200 hotel rooms and event center. But even as middletown reopens and tries to get back to normal, there are still evacuation orders in effect for communities like cobb and Anderson Springs which were hit hard by the fire. One big issue in the communities is the fact that pg e is still working to try to restore power there. They may not have the lights back on to everyone impacted by the fire until this coming friday. Back to you. Pg e continues to repair damaged power lines and poles in the valley fire zone. Almost 900 power poles have been damaged. 480 new power poles have been installed, rebuilt and rewired. Pg e hopes to have power fully restored in the fire zone by friday night. The death of a man whose body was found near the tassajara fire in Monterey County is under investigation. His body was found inside a charred car. The tassajara fire started friday afternoon. Its burned 1,000 acres, destroyed ten homes and other buildings. That fire is about 30 contained. An air health alert has been issued by Monterey County Health Officials because of smoke from the tassajara fire. They say the smoke may be a problem for several days. Children, seniors and people with heart or lung disease are being told to stay inside until the smoke clears. Evacuees of the butte fire are being allowed to return home. More than 70,000 homes have burned in aim ma door and amador and calaveras counties. Some evacuation orders were lifted yesterday. Many people returned to find their homes were lost in the fire. A federal complaint accuses Mathew Muller of kidnapping Denise Huskins from her home in march. She later turned up unharmed in southern california. Police initially called the story a hoax but months later, the fbi said it found evidence that it actually happened. Muller is expected to plead not guilty. Now there are questions being raised about staff background checks being complete. Santa clara county education officials asked spark Charter School in sunnyvale to close until those records are up to date. This comes after this teachers aide, 18yearold jonathan chow, was arrested last week on child pornography and molestation charges. Hes accused of molesting an 8 yearold girl at the school. During an investigation, county officials discovered that fingerprint tests on all of the schools employees had not been completed before the school opened a month ago. Thats a violation of the state education code. What i said to them was if you do not close, im going to take forward a recommendation to my board to revoke the charter. There is a provision in California Law that allows immediate revocation if the safety of students is placed at risk. The school says its now completed those background checks on all of the employees. Theres no word yet when the Charter School will reopen. Figures show the bay area has ryest rate of car thefts in the country. Car thefts are up 10 in San Francisco. If the trend holds, the city could see the highest number of stolen cars in nearly a decade. Police say they suspect a number of cars are stolen by criminals to be used in robberies, shootings and other crimes. This comes as the car decline is coming across the rest of the state. So we are mostly sunny along the coast inside the bay and for the inland communities, the sun shoo is shining as the sun is shining. We have a southwesterly breeze in napa at about 7 miles an hour. In fairfield, a northeasterly breeze. Oakland, a northwesterly breeze at about 7. And the only area where i see more of an onshore breeze on the west end of San Francisco. So the west end of San Francisco, about 65 degrees right now. You get into downtown San Francisco its still 80 degrees right now. So again, right along the coastline the only place were gonna feel the cooldown if the sea breeze picks up, 68 degrees half moon bay. But were 82 at redwood city. If you like it hot, livermore is the place to be. 95 at this lunch hour which means were likely to go a lot warmer before the day is over. Upper 80s in antioch. 90 degrees for your lunch hour in pittsburg. Another hot day for most of us especially the inland cities. Around the bay, 80s and 90s expected. To the east bay, temperatures will be quite warm along the shoreline. Upper 80s to low 90s.
