They are trying to determine whether it was a third heat related death in the south bay and we have two confirmed heat related deaths. We had a 71yearold woman in a 72yearold man. The woman, gordon, was gardening when she was overcome by the hot sun, and she was very wellliked in the neighborhood. She was a very sweet old lady. She did not know me but when i would have my son, she brought gifts like on his birthday and christmas. The 72yearold victim was a homeless man found in his vehicle. Homeless advocates are going to the encampment and handing out bottled water, and they are encouraging people to seek shelter on this thursday. Many people have their air conditioners on full blast as we try to get one of the hottest days of the year past us. The crews and construction workers working outside have specific safety issues. There are safety issues covering these people are work out doors on these hot days and their managers are required to take care of the workers. You need to periodically stop and take a shade break. We encourage our employees to take a shade break is often as possible. State law requires employers to provide a shady area for the workers when the temperatures exceed 80 degrees, and they want to make sure that theres enough freshwater, and there should be an emergency plan if someone is overcome by the heat, and all workers should be trained on preventing heat related illnesses. What better place to be than at the pool at this Robert Livermore Aquatic Center and it has been packed all morning with everyone looking for a little bit of relief from the scorching heat. This is just a few days after the major power outage in the area as a result of the heat. We are at the Robert Livermore Aquatic Center in livermore where a lot of people are taking a dip in the pool. Breaking news right now out of San Francisco, the Fire Department has ordered a shelter in place at 23rd avenue and lake street after report of a gas leak. The gasoline has been broken. Sky fox is overhead of the pg e truck and firefighters are also there. They have made this a little more expansive not only for that particular block but going southbound down california street and toward the presidio and 22nd avenue along with 24th avenue. The shelter in place order came in around 11 40 am and the San Francisco Fire Department is telling people to stay indoors and keep the windows closed in order to minimize exposure to the gas. The gasoline was struck in we dont know how but that is gas line was struck and we dont know how but there is a shelter in place in order due to the gas break. We will pass along any news we get. In the east bay the police in brentwood are investigating a double homicide and two men were shot and killed at the Edna Hill Middle School and shots were fired and the two men died in the suspect is talking with the police and coming up we will hear from a witness that tried to talk to one of the victims after he was shot. During a packed meeting this morning the board took Public Comments on the safe transit policy and that would prevent bart workers from asking the riders about their immigration status and supporters say that the policy will ensure that bart invests in transporting the riders and keeping them safe, and not furthering the National Anti immigration agenda. Here is video shot from the scene where the police were called to burch street around 11 15 pm wednesday. They found two men suffering from gunshot wounds and both work pronounced dead at the scene.
