Reporter well, this is where part of the celebration became very messy, ugly, and smelly, out on 16th and mission, which is behind us. You can see the remnants of one of the burntout dumpster in the middle of the street. Now, this has been here for several hours. We checked with one of the dpw crews, and i believe the problem is the plastic from one of those bins melted into the asphalt so thats why they are having a bit of a difficult time trying to clear away. Theres a police car behind it so some of the cars driving down here dont directly run into it. Now, this all started after the giants victory when rowdy fans pour into the streets and within hours, people began setting dumpsters on fire. A fire back tollon chief said there was fires on almost every block from 16 and mission to 24th. One business was threatened, but firefighters extinguished the fire. Fans were participating in an Unlawful Assembly and told to leave the area. We saw officers make several arrests. Some Mission District resident said the party got quickly out of hand. It was fun at first. Its fun in the beginning. But, you know, the reason that i left the chaos was because a friend of mine was hit in the face with a beer can. And thats when it was just too wild. People should not tear up city they love so much. Why would the giants want to win again if this is what we do to show our appreciation . Reporter one mission resident was so frustrated with tippedover trash can she is came to clean out part of the mess in front of her apartment building. Departments of works crews cleaned out the trash and made a lot of progress because this street was much, much messier than it is right now. Theyre extinguishing fires in some dumpster that flared up and continued to smolder for hours. Now, we arrived at 1 00 this morning and drove around the Mission District. We didnt see any broken windows or any visible signs of structural damage to any of the businesses on mission or valencia between 16th and 24th so it appears most of the damage was limited to the dumpsters and trash cans and some news racks left out here. We have no word on anyone being injured. And there was a loud but peaceful celebration in San Franciscos inner sunset district. Now, ktvu viewer sent this cell phone video from ninth and irving. Some fans were banging on the tops of newspaper racks after just bowering out onto the streets. Now, this celebration didnt appear to get out of hand in this part of the city. Yeah, were live in studio 1204, one of several printing shops cranking the world series championship tshirts for the San Francisco giants in union city. Lets bring in chuck johnson, who is the head of studio 1204. Chuck, i understand theres three different designs for the world series shirts. Can you explain them . Well, we have three were printing. The gray one is the locker room tshirt, which is a shirt that players are putting on right after the game ended. Then this is what theyre calling the parade tshirt, and then just one tore desi were doing there so a total of three different designs. Reporter talk to us when you started printing the shirts. I understand its kind of a short process. Talk a little about that. Well, what we do we work with imagewear and they ask us to be what they call a hot market printer. That means they send the shirts in anticipation of winning the world series or National Championships and we basically have to get ready to print. We get the designs ready, sample them, send them out for approval with Major League Baseball, and then just keep our fingers crossed that well need to print them. Reporter you have been starting since last night early this morning . We actually started about 24 hours ago and took a break of about six hours and came back after the game finished and have been going ever since. Reporter all right and will probably go on until noon today when theyre cranking out the shirts. You can find them at a lot of different locations. We will have that at 6 45. The fog is one of those things you have to keep in the back of your mind today if you are driving almost anywhere in the bay, especially the west bay. Now, you can see here i meant the peninsula, of course. The traffic is going to be a little slow at the toll plaza. They havent turned on the metering lights but theres a little fog creeping through and will be foggy on the bridge as well. Moving along to interstate 880, not so foggy in oakland and looks pretty good in both direction in front of the coliseum, southbound looking okay to hayward. If youre driving to the 101, a nice drive to the airport in case youre trying to catch a flight we can even out of downtown San Francisco, 101 looks clear to the airport in san bruno. 6 08. Warm air squashing some of the fog so we have dense, coastal fog and inland fog so a fog advisory is out until 8 00 but some of that will probably last will little longer yeah, maybe a little misty on the coast. A little damp but likely tomorrow into wednesday we will have a ramp up of that. Our Cloud Forecast doesnt do much for highandmidlevel clouds but keeps low clouds on the coast so some of this fog will begin to increase i think wednesday night into thursday as the front get closer but slowing down and makes sense with the absolute just monster system back east slowing everything down but we will have a lot of low clouds back to the coast. 40s and 50s on the temps right now, overall cool for some but foggy for others. High pressure still in place today but will slowly break down as the system comes in so a dense fog advisory out. The cooling begins today as well. Look for this trend to continue into tuesday and wednesday. Well bottom out wednesday into thursday and start another warmup for the weekend. We have developing news. San jose firefighters are battle a stubborn fire at an empty warehouse that started just about two hours ago. Now, heres a picture from the scene. Firefighters said this fire is still not under control. No reports of any injuries but firefighters are worried about the stability of the building. They also say this is the third multiplealarm fire they have respond to in less than 24 hours. Nearly three dozen new recruits will start the Firefighting Academy in san jose. Its one of the biggest classes ever. The recruits will help bring the department closer to its Staffing Levels before recent cutbacks. The Academy Class is being paid for by an 8. 6 million grant from fema. Recruit will graduate in march. Time now just about 6 15. New this morning, president obama right now is head back to washington, d. C. , after canceling a Florida Campaign appearance because of the approaching Hurricane Sandy. The time is 6 16. A moderate earthquake in Central California overnight but so far, theres no word of any damage or injuries. It was a 4. 2 magnitude quake that hit about 5 miles northwest of Pinnacles National monument and 13 miles northeast of the town of soledad. That area often feels quakes because pinnacles include a rock formation left by an extinct volcano and the San Andreas Fault runs right through it. The violence continues in syria, despite the ceasefire that is supposed to be in effects. Both the government and rebel forces agree to a ceasefire during a fourday muslim holiday that ends today. However, the truce collapsed almost immediately after it was supposed to take effect. Activists said more than 100 people were killed both saturday and sunday. And today, the Syrian Government said a car bomb in damascus in a suburb killed ten people. The trial continues today for a man accused of a string of violent Sexual Assault in San Francisco. 32yearold Frederick Dozier is accused of raping, beating, and robbing three women in the Mission District between june and december of last year. He was arrested in january after Police Received a tip. If convicted, he could get life in prison. Also this morning, jury deliberations continue in the trial of giselle else tee ban, the Union City Woman accused of killing michelle lay. People have been getting call in the middle of the night from what they believe are their grandchildren. Theyre claiming to be in a mexico jail and need money to get out. We have a lot of fog around, dense fog advisory out coast and inland until 8 00 but some of the fog on the coast is very, very shallow and highway 1 could reduce visibility not only for this morning but i think the next couple of days. Also some kind of misty, drizzly conditions are possible but its not confine to the coast. Again, we have inland fog santa rosa, con card, clayton really thick fog and also towards hayward so be careful. Patchy dense fog advisory until 8 00 but the fog doesnt read the advisory may go until 9 00 for some. We have a cooler pattern in place so dense fog in the morning, otherwise clear and cool.
