Good morning, want to take you out to that house fire we have been talking about, janine de la vega out there, the fire is out but you can see investigators there on the scene. Now trying to figure out what happened. We will take you there in just a moment. Thank you for joining us on monday morning, october 7th, i am pam cook. I am dave clark, lets check weather and traffic, how do you want them to dress . That is personal. I see. My jammies. Our meteorologist p. J. S would be nice, we do have a change, still mild to warm but not as warm as yesterday, especially by the coast, 70s and 80s but temperatures are taking a dip, clouds there will clear out, so cool for some, mild for others, partly sunny and cloudy, a weak system coming in which will turn the wind more westerly yet 45 napa and santa rosa, 62 San Francisco, so there is a huge difference in some of these, fairfield made it to 49, the cloud cover keeping some more 50s down towards san jose parts of the peninsula as well. See those right there, they will thin out and move out and this system works in, we are on the southern edge but will give us a west breeze, so San Francisco going to go 74 but you will hit that by noon and drop fast here as the wind does turn westerly or at least northwesterly. This is choice, micro climate forecast, 70s, and then inland you start to see some around the bay some 70s, upper 70s in land, very very low 80s and temperatures topping out for areas from 81 to 83 degrees so i would buy most of this, a few areas warmer, higher clouds there, they move out for the morning, then there is your afternoon that will give us a cool down, 60s, 70s and inland 80s, here is sal. Steve, good morning, looking at the bay bridge, you can see that there is something going on here in these lanes. It is either a stalled vehicle or something is right there, westbound, so i will tell you that traffic is going to be affected by this, so we will keep an eye on it for you, also looking at the commute, traffic here on interstate 880 is looking good in both directions. Now, if you are driving to taking bart, no delays, bart, cal train or muni, 6 03, back to the desk. We are following developing news this morning from palo alto, the Investigation Underway into an Early Morning house fire. Janine de la vega first reporter on the scene and we understand there is a new development now. Reporter well, the fire investigator just arrived here, that is the person who is going to determine the cause of this fire. Now he cant do that until the building inspector says it is okay, that is the gentleman standing there in that Yellow Jacket speaking to the firefighter. Now as we speak off and on firefighters have been intermittently putting out hot spots and still hosing it down from the outside because it is still too dangerous to enter, firefighters arrived here at the house at 4 00 a. M. After a passing motorist called in to 911 reporting smoke in the area. The home had flames shooting from the top of the roof and it was engulfed, causing firefighters to attack it from the outside, surrounding homes were evacuated and they were able to knock down the flames within 20 minutes, the house had been abandoned and there was no electricity which leads officials to believe that the fire appears to be suspicious. We had the building inspector run the address and found out it is set up for possible renovations, so at that point we can only assume no one is inside but as soon as conditions are safe we will go in and do a check to confirm this there is no one in the structure. Again once the fire inspector is able to enter the home they are going to see if it was possibly a transient trying to stay warm inside or if there was anyone else inside the structure, a building inspector needs to determine again if it is safe, make sure the roof wont collapse if anyone enters, in the meantime firefighters are watching this house closely. It is still smoldering and in the last 45 minutes we have seen flames so they are going to stay here, watch it and make sure to house down for hot spots. Janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. 6 05. A hotel in richmond has been evacuated because a gas tanker truck rolled over on its side and there is a small leak, the crews are testing the like here to see how safe it is and what they have to do to get that tanker back on its wheels, both of the ramps on interstate 80 have been closed but the freeway is still open. Alex savidge is there, he will have a live report on all of this in 30 minutes. Fire crews are still on Yerba Buena Island after two small fires last night caused a traffic back up on the bay bridge. They were first reported at 8 00 last night. Those flames burned 4 acres of the westside of the island in steep brush. The fires didnt cause injures or major damage but you can see it sent those plumes of smoke and flames which affected the drivers and caused a huge traffic jam on the bridge. Fire crews are still out there watching for flareups and as sal has been telling you an off ramp is closed this morning. Meantime the vegetation fire in larkspur burned several acres of a area at 4 00 in the afternoon yesterday near marina vista avenue. With the help of planes and also firefighters on the ground they controlled this within an hour. No structures were damaged, no one was hurt. The cause of the fire though is under investigation. Pg e crews have begun shutting down a natural gas line in san carlos, the judges order comes after emails questioned the pipeline safety. It is line 147, it runs under britain avenue between 280 and highway 101. Ktvus Tara Moriarty joins us now with more on these. Many people we spoke to there said they wanted proof, not promises that this line was safe. At first the agency said it would simply reduce the pressure but yesterday pg e started shutting down the line. That is after a judge issued a temporary injunction. Mayor bob grassili and the city declared a state of emergency friday after officials discovered internal pg e e mails questioning the safety of the 20 inch 4 mile gas line. Why has it taken until now for pg e to make this decision to shut down the line . We have safely operating pipeline today. When i saw that memo i i my reaction was exactly the same as the city managers saying what in the blood bladeses is going on here, where is the answers to this questions. They said they had to consider how other gas lines would be affected but said customers wont be impacted, gan they said it is safe but after the disaster there that killed eight people and destroyed homes people in san carlos say they want more than just assurances, no word on how long it will be out of service, san carlos will decide whether it should continue in 30 days, the line is still not shut down, that should be done by the end of the work day today. Live from the newsroom, Tara Moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. It appears the government will remain in shut down mode as the house continues its piecemeal approach today, members will vote on funding the fda, but Senate Democrats wont support it. No, i like that, go long dave. Go. Morning so far we dont have major problems to worry about. We do have slow traffic though as you drive in some of these areas, lets go to San Francisco northbound 101. This traffic looks pretty good coming up to the 80 split with no major problems. Also southbound 101 traffic looks good heading down to the peninsula down to the airport perhaps, if you are driving that way. We are looking at the commute at the toll plaza. It is about a 10 to 15 minute delay with no major problems there. Westbound 580 right near 205 there is a crash on the shoulder. So watch for that. It is actually not causing a huge delay because it is already slow through this area. If you are driving to Castro Valley already getting slow as you drive through the 238 interchange and head over to interstate 880.
