This morning we are following that developing news in napa county where a large wild fire is only 30 contained. It started yesterday afternoon in pope valley. Reporter yeah from where we are standing we can see a charred hillside and a couple of spot fires but really the conditions are not too bad. If you go through the canyon you can see some flames. We will stay back out of that area just because simply its quite smoky and the fire is lapping up near the road in parts. People from 180 homes in berryessa estates have be evacuated and at last check it was 30 con taped. 50 people did not make it out of their homes so they are sheltering in place. Cal fire is confident they are safe because crews created fuel breaks around the homes. Five buildings have burned to the ground. One of them possibly a home. The rest barns and chose. One man we spoke to say they spent most of yesterday rescuing pets and livestock. We will drive up with an escort either a fire or the rescue people and we will go some place, help someone rescue their animals and take them to a safe location. Reporter the fire began around noon yesterday and quickly scorched hundreds of acres of wooded hillsides. The bone dry conditions and extreme heat obviously added fuel to the fire. One is at Middle Town High School, the second is pope valley elementary school. Two fires burning at the same time in san jose exposed just how stretched the citys resources are for fire season. On monday afternoon, a large grass fire threatened homes in south san jose. And then another fire started six miles away at the public golf course. According to the mercury news, 60 of the citys fire crews were responding to both of those fires. That left a handful of firefighters left to cover any emergencies for the rest of the city. The fire captain says if they are ever in need of more help, they will call in off duty firefighters or ask for help from nearby cities. Despite being a very dry winter, only one bay area city set a low rainfall record. National Weather Service official rain year ended yesterday. Police say two suspects broke into the home of the woman and her husband early yesterday morning. We now know they were armed with a knife which was used to force a couple to the back of their home. Right now im feeling so disgusted with the people that did this. The two suspects stole the couples car and later spotted by police after a short chase they crashed into an empty home. The 15yearold that was spined in the passenger seat was arrested. They are still look for the driver that is latino between the ages of 1725. Police are hoping to get more information to put together a sketch. The city of berkeley has come up with a new way to control the booming squirrel population at a popular park. Instead of exterminating the squirrels, the city is planning to make it a crime to feed them in the parks. The whole issue centers around the large squirrel population here. Along the watt every front. This park is built on top of a landfill and the critters out here have been burring holes in the dirt and there are some concerns that could lead to a toxic waste. Now originally the city considered chill killing the squirrels but that led to a public outcry. They formed a special subcommittee and the best way to control the critters was to simply stop feeding them. Once the new law takes effect, anyone caught tossing peanuts or breads to squirrels can face 1,000 fine and six months in jail. Over the next six months the city is expected if put up new signs and brochures here at the parks. As you can see, it was caught on surveillance cameras. Two women who were inside the truck received serious burns. The explosion happened yesterday evening as the truck was parked outside of an auto body shop. Walking by and the truck just blew up. About 140 undocumented immigrants many of them unaccompanied children are at a federal facility in san diego this morning. That is after they were blocked from reaching their intended destination in marietta. Three loaded buses had to turn around in marietta instead go to a customs and border facility in san diego. Now the immigrants came from texas where facilities had been overwhelmed by an influx of children mostly crossing the border illegally. Authorities are racing to find facilities to accommodate them but protestors say they dont want them in marietta. City Officials Say they were told to expect 140 immigrants every three days. The next group is scheduled to arrive on the fourth of july. The federal government is suing tmobile for a practice known as cramming. The federal trade Commission Says they charged customers for Premium Services including special ring tones and subscriptions they never paid for. Wildlife officials are hoping to capture it soon so they can return it to its native habitat in the sierra. This is the second summoner a row a marmot ended up in San Francisco. Prosecutors in los angeles have decided not to charge aldon smith for not making a bomb threat at lax. Their investigation not over yet. This is cell phone video of the incident in april. San Francisco Police have broken up an illegal fire works operation just days before the fourth of july. Under cover officers say 18 yearold eric yang was running the operation out of a cafe. He had 15yearold boy retrieve the fire works in a storage space. Police say they confiscated 100 illegal fire works and prosecutors are charging the 18 yearold with felony possession of explosions and child endangerment.
