And it is day four of the bay bridge closure as work will continue today for them to open it on schedule. We are told that some of the paving and the demolition work is taking a little longer than expected, but they still remain on schedule. They have given themselves some breathing room to make sure they could get things opened by the tuesday schedule opening. They will start paving the westbound lanes of the toll plaza and they still need to prepare the eastbound lanes in the next day or so. On the west end of the new eastern span, they finished paving right near the tunnel at your islands. In the meantime they still have that demolition work that is going on the old bay bridge. We want to show you the emotional moment for a lot of people that have been on that job for years. Yesterday crews were dismantling the section of the old bay bridge, which will make way for a new bike and pedestrian path. Overnight im told that they brought in pieces to begin installing them. Crews have been doing the power working as well, at the island as well. And despite the broken bolts, of course, they will require a temporary fix to be put in place. Crews will be putting in a permanent fix for those broken bolts once they open. Of course, everything is still on track according to cal cal on 5 00 Tuesday Morning as you can expect that update again from cal tran just about an hour from now. We will bring it to you live.
