[ singing ] 22yearold Elliot Rodger was heavily armed when he went on a rampage in the Isla Vista Community friday night. Authorities say he stabbed and killed 33 people at his apartment before shooting and killing two women at a severity house Sorority House and another person outside a deli. One victim was a University Student out of alamo, nick pasashute suffered serious injured after he was ran into by rodgers bmi. He was in town visiting a water polo teammate. Coming up we will have a live report from isla vista with the latest on the investigation. Uc president Janet Napolitano says she is shocked and saddened by the shootings near the Uc Santa Barbara campus. They clearly implicated our Campus Community so we want to make sure the members of our Campus Community feel safe and that the campus continues to thrive. California attorney general Camila Harris released a statement following the tragedy that says in part i extend my heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of the victims of friday nights terrible shooting in isla vista, our thoughts and prayers are with all who have been affected by these tragic acts of violence. Hes using a chain saw to actually start breaking down and cutting up one of those utility poles that was knocked out at about 12 45 a ford pickup truck came down mission boulevard here, knocked out the utility pole and the fire hydrant which was over there but first it hit another utility pole over in this direction and it sheared off, as i said, that fire hydrant in the process of this whole big accident this morning. Investigators arrested the man who was driving. He is facing dui charges. Add to that that there were two children and a woman in the pickup truck at the time, that driver also now facing charges of child endangerment. At this point investigators say its unclear if the driver was trying to take off after the accident, but investigators arrived and say they determined quickly that he had been drinking. For unknown reasons the driver lost control and veered off the roadway and collided with a telephone pole and then continued northbound on mission boulevard and collided into another telephone pole followed by fire hydrant. Now, as if that wasnt enough, while investigators were looking into that first incident, another driver passing the scene tried to make a uturn and nearly hit a patrol car. Investigators stopped that driver as well. After a brief investigation they determined he too was intoxicated and arrested him and take a look, you can see heres the utility pole sitting on the ground. You can imagine the amount of force was necessary not just to take this utility pole but another utility and a fire hydrant out all in one incident. It happened about 1 30 this morning at an apartment on nicole avenue near champion street. Police say a group of people went back to the apartment after a night out and at some point they started arguing. Thats when Police Say One person started shooting. Police say the group then left the apartment. The victim is described as a man in his late 20s, so far no arrests have been made. The first part of a three part seismic fix on interstate 280 in San Francisco went off without a hitch. Thats according to caltrans. Caltrans has closed a 2mile stretch between king and caesar chaviz streets cesar chavez streets which will allow it to expand and contract during an earthquake. The closed section of the interstate is scheduled to reopen by Tuesday Morning at 5 00 a. M. Friends and family will gather tomorrow to remember a teenager who was killed in a crash near santa rosa earlier this month. Ashley carlson was the passenger in a car her friend was driving. Yeah, there are 10 different crime scenes, mike. I want to show you one of them. This is where Christopher Ross martinez, a 20yearold student who was doing very well in school came into the ib deli mart to grab something to meet and he eat and he ended up being gunned down. This community trying to cope with the loss of so many, six innocent victims that were all taken by the suspect according to police Elliot Rodger was driving by and shooting up approximate town. I want to show you just another thing here because there is remnants of what happened. You can see the bullet holes here where people have come and stuffed bouquets of flowers inside them. Two bullet holes inside. This is one of the crime scenes where a student was indeed killed. Now, we know the names of two of the other students who were killed. Katie cooper and veronica weiss, we know about their story because we talked to a witness who actually saw them die, a terrible story, they were going past a sorority, as they were walking past, the shooter came up, he started shooting them and they fell to the ground. One of them died immediately, the other one died on the scene as our witness was trying to help her and a third girl was with them. She actually has survived. She was talking to her mother on the cell phone, according to our witness, telling her how much she loved her because she wasnt sure she was going to survive. We know three other people, the three other victims who have not yet been named by the Sheriffs Department were actually inside the suspects apartment stabbed to death. So the spree started there at his apartment and then he moved out to gun down and run over strangers. Mike.
