The clouds are greeting us once again inside the bay, never left the coastline. Take a look, pretty widespread at this hour. It is going to peel back once again and well be left with mostly sunny skies away from the coastline. At the coast, well continue with the low clouds and Cool Conditions for today. The onshore breeze through fairfield, gusting to 26 Miles Per Hour. A lot like yesterday. Even stronger just a little while ago. Tracking gusts to 30 Miles Per Hour. Not losing the seabreeze for today. That will continue to bring us some mild to warm weather, but not too hot inland. Think temperatures will come up a few degrees over yesterday, but it wont be too bad. 57 degrees in antioch right now. 55 in concord. Low 50s in napa. 49 in novato. Widespread 50s around the bay. Half moon bay, 54 degrees. A little patchy drizzle even a possibility. Take a look at the numbers for your afternoon. Low 60s in pacifica. Upper 60s San Francisco. Mid70s to low 80s for the bay. As we go inland, temperatures do become warm. 94 in livermore, 95 in antioch, 9 it in fairfield. Into the south bay, 92 for morgan hill. We begin with develops news, a wildfire raging out of control. Its forcing evacuations in an area stretching from solano, yolo and napa counties. The fire was first reported around 9 30 last night at monticello dam, near the southeast shore of lake barieca. Officials tell us this morning the grass fire has now burned a thousand acres and is only 10 contained. There are mandatory evacuations in an area known as the golden bear estates in yolo county. 30 homes have been evacuated. A stretch of highway 128 is also closed between winters to state highway 121. Stay with ktvu. Well also be following the story throughout the morning. Another large fire in napa is now 65 contained. Yesterday, calfire reopened roads in the area of pope valley west of the lake. Crews also say they stopped the spread of the fire towards populated areas. Two homes were destroyed from this fire and all of the people who were evacuated on tuesday have now been allowed to return to their homes. The fire has burned 4300 acres. In contra costa county, firefighters have also been busy trying to put out fast moving fires. News chopper 2 took pictures of this fire burning through dried grass and brush in a field near bentley street in concord. The fire burned two acres and was under control by 10 00 p. M. There was also a separate two acre fire near willow pass in concord, and a threeacre blaze in martinez. A grass fire nearly wipes out a Small Community in Solano County. Theres a big, big piece of fire that went onto my porch, under my bunnys hutch where my bunny was still in there. Im trying to bend down and get him out. The fire destroyed eight homes and left families in tears. Winds blew flames from a field to homes and buildings across the entire town. Coming up at 7 30, fire victims are going to share their stories of struggle and loss. One family had just hoofed into their new home this week. And theres also developing news in oakland, where a possible celebration turns into tragedy. One man electrocuted, another injured last night. Christian Christien Kafton is live outside Police Headquarters with more. Reporter yeah, mike, police are saying one man is dead, another severely injured by a power line that dropped into the street overnight. Officers were called to the scene after midnight after a report of people injured and the possibility of shots fired. When officers arrived, they found two men on the ground near 89th avenue and birch street in east oakland. It appears they were electrocuted by a downed wire. What caused the wire is unclear at this point. It could have been gunfire. Could have been fireworks. Reporter while our cameras were rolling, you could clearly see fireworks going off in the night sky over oakland. Officers confirm one man was killed when that live power line fell. Another was hospitalized. No word on how extensive his injuries are or how he is doing at this point. Oakland police did say they would be cracking down on the use of illegal fireworks this fourth of july holiday. Officers, though, did say with the fourth falling on a friday and with nice weather, they called it a, quote, fireworks perfect storm. Christien kafton, ktvu channel 2news. Well, it is known as the deadliest holiday on the roadway. This weekend, local Law Enforcement agencies want to make sure you stay safe by looking out for drunk drivers. Tonight, several dui check points will be set up across the bay area. During the fourth of july holiday period in 2012, 78 people were killed by drunk drivers across the nation. Most crashes happened at night. Law enforcement agencies say if you plan to drink this Holiday Weekend, be sure to have a designated driver. Mothers against drunk driving is teaming up with Ridesharing Service uber for a new drunk driving campaign. That campaign called uber maad kicked off last night. Uber will be donating 1 to maad for every ride taken and 10 for every new rider. Cal trans is reminding drivers to expect backups in San Francisco this weekend, from the northbound interchange near at t ballpark are closed for retrofit repairs. A similar project shut down the southbound lanes during the memorial day weekend holiday. Cal trans is urging people heading into San Francisco this weekend to use mass transit. Northbound lanes of 280 are scheduled to reopen at 5 00 monday morning. Thousands of people gathered in San Francisco last night to watch the annual fourth of July Fireworks display. [ cheers applause ] they were set off from a barge near pier 39. It was a little foggy out there, but many spectators say it did not get in their way of seeing the great show. While most people stayed on land to watch, others took their fourth of July Celebrations to the water. Its the absolute busiest day of the year. We get people from all over the world for this event. The blue gold fleet says it increased its number of boats yesterday by 50 . Fire work cruises sold out days ahead, in part because the holiday fell on a friday. Fire work displays were held across the bay area. Heres what it looked like in pittsburgh from news chopper 2. They were set off from the marina, just an absolute perfect night out there in the east bay. News chopper 2 flew over the fire work display in pleasant hill. The event was held at College Park High school. This years theme was hats off to america. Police are searching for a suspect in a possible kidnapping that led to an overnight chase. The chase began when police pulled alongside a car in clayton and a woman inside said she had been kidnapped. The woman got out and the driver took off, leading police on a chase that reached speeds of 80 miles an hour that stretched into concord. Police believe the suspect and the victim knew each other and maybe from brentwood or antioch. Uc Berkeley Police are looking for a man who attacked a female student at a Residence Hall bathroom. According to the daily californian newspaper, the woman was brushing her teeth wednesday night when the man came from behind and inappropriately touched her. Campus police now have launched a Sexual Battery investigation. The latest Development Comes as uc berkeley tries to crack down a Sexual Assaults on campus. There have been 10 cases since 2008 in which students were dismissed for sexual conduct. The search continues for a Southern California marine who has been missing for one week. 19yearold erin corwin disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Her husband, a marine corporal, told investigators he last saw his wife leaving their home headed to Joshua Tree National park last saturday morning. He said she was going to scout a location for a family outing. Volunteers continue to look for corwin despite tripledigit temperatures and treacherous conditions. This could be you, your family, your daughter, brother, sister, mother. You wouldnt want people to give up on you. Why give up on her . Investigators say they found her car on monday. The couple has been married a year and a half. Corwin is three months pregnant. An incident caught on camera showing what appears to be an officer sitting on top of a woman repeatedly punching her along the los angeles freeway. A passing driver recorded the confrontation on tuesday. Highway patrol says the officer was trying to restrain the woman who had been walking on interstate 10. The officer, whose name has not been released, says the woman was endangering herself and others, driving there on the highway. The man who shot the video says he could not believe the officer was beating up a defenseless woman. To see her head bouncing, bam, bam, on the concrete, i saw 11 on the video, he took more shots than that, around 15 shots to her head. The officer is on administrative leave, pending the chp investigation. The woman was taken to the hospital for physical and mental evaluation. Well, the fourth of july may be over, but fireworks will still light up the sky this weekend. Four children were killed and eight homes destroyed in a massive overnight fire in southwest philadelphia. That fire broke out just before midnight. 42 people were displaced. The victims included a 1month old baby boy, 4yearold twin girls and a 4yearold boy. Two 11yearold girls were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Hurricane arthur has been downgraded to a Tropical Storm. Arthur, with its 70 mileper hour winds is losing strength. Canadians are not taking any chances. Officials are also warning people to stay clear of the waterfront because of the high winds. I know its really pretty to look along the rocks, but its dangerous. Just one slip, and youll regret it the rest of your life. Landscapers have been busy cleaning up debris left by the storm. Reporter Jonathan Siri says flooding remains a problem on the North Carolina coast. Reporter hurricane arthur crossed the outer banks during the Early Morning hours, pushing water, sand and debris onto port, and temporarily cutting off access to the piers. The storm, with its 100 mile perhour winds caused far less damage to homes and businesses than many had feared. There have been no casualties or serious injuries reported, and that was our number one goal. So that puts a big smile on all our faces. Reporter the storm departed on a northeast path, taking it south of cape cod, losing strength over cooler waters. Arthur could not have come at a worse time for tourists, who flock to the outer banks in droves each year for Independence Day vacations. Many hunkered down on the islands and made the hurricane part of the experience. Were you scared . No. No, not at all. It was pretty funny actually, because my dad was scared. Maybe not scared, but we were prepared. We wanted to ride it out. Its a onceayear vacation and onceinalifetime experience here at the outer banks. Tomorrow marks one year since the asiana crash at San Francisco international airport, crashing short of the runway. The plane clipped a seawall on landing and burst into flames. Three teenage girls from china were killed. 182 people were injured. The National Transportation safety board concluded last month that the threemember flight crew which had a good safety record, relied too much on the planes automated Flight Systems which they did not fully understand. The ntsb recommended boeing create better training manuals and procedures. The board also advised asiana to provide more training and flight time to its pilots. Security is being stepped up at european airports over concern that a new type of bomb has been developed by alqaeda. The department of Homeland Security says the bomb is even harder to detect with current security screenings. It is now asking International Airports to increase security for flights heading to the u. S. Airports in france and london put this into effect on thursday. This is something weve discussed with the americans and what weve done is put in place some extra precautions and extra checks. The safety of the traveling public must come first. Airport Officials Say passengers should expect to see more screening of electronics and shoes, along with more explosive detection machines. Well, this morning were hearing from the woman who captured this video of an out ofcontrol passenger who forced a flight to be diverted to phoenixs sky harbor airport. The incident happened wednesday on an American Airlines flight from san diego to dallas. Cell phone video shows passengers rushing to subdue a man who tried to stab himself in flight and threatened to rush the cockpit. Turned around and he had, like, um, toenail clippers all open with the file trying to stab himself in the stomach. No one was hurt, but passengers say they were rattled by the incident. The fbi is questioning the man, who speaks little english, but have not said whether he is expected to face charges. Agencies in montana are working overtime this Holiday Weekend, after a train carrying parts for boeing passenger jets derailed in montana. The train was traveling from kansas city to renton, washington when 19 cars went off the track, three hauling aircraft components which fell into a river. Boeing says the parts were for several planes on their way for final assembly. The cause of that derailment is under investigation. A high speed chase involving a tesla ended in a crash in west hollywood. Police say the tesla slammed into two vehicles, hit two light poles, then split in half. The driver was ejected through the front windshield and is in critical condition. Five others, including two l. A. P. D. Officers were taken to the hospital. The chase began after police got a call about someone tampering with a car at a tesla dealership. The san jose fourth of july parade had a special grand marshall. Crowds cheered as 95yearold joe bell rode a motorbike down dana avenue worg the same uniform he wore in the 1940s when he was a demolition jumper for the army. You can see up and down the coastline, it has remained for days now. A little sunshine there, a little sunshine expected for today as well. Inside the bay, though, in areas over the north bay, as well as the south bay, this will retreat. Im already seeing holes in the marine layer, helping to clear it out. 53 right now in napa. 56 in oakland. Upper 50s in redwood city. We told you at the top of the newscast mandatory evacuations under way following a wildfire burning in a rural area stretching from solano into yolo and napa counties. People living in about 30 homes at the golden bear estates in the city of winters were told to leave as precaution. The grass fire has burned a thousand acres near 128 at monticello dam. The fire is 10 contained this morning. Highway 128 is closed between winters to state highway 121. The fire nearly wipes out a small rural town in solano. This morning, investigators will return to the scene to try to determine what happened. The fire destroyed eight homes and damaged three others. Katie utehs spoke to residents who are now left to pick up the pieces. Reporter half of collinsville is ashes. My family come here a hundred years ago. Reporter sam lib rat toe watched as the wind whipped flames of a grass fire toward his home in Solano County. It was running wild. Reporter people did what they could. We lost the water, so we couldnt use anything to fight it, just stand there and watch. Me and him were grabbing pots and pans and throwing him and the wind it blowing it. Reporter Elaine Dennis and her parents moved into a rental earlier this week. Theirs, the first to go. It started out as a little fire. Then the next thing you know, our whole house its on the back porch, pieces flying, hitting us. Reporter the family lost everything, including pets. I got what i could. When i was going in there, i almost puked because the smoke was getting so bad. I couldnt go back. Right now were working to get all the folks who lost their homes a place to stay. Reporter by evening, crews got a handle on the scene, but not before the fire claimed eight homes and damaged three others. In addition to high winds and hot conditions, the fire knocked out power lines. You could see this transformer on the ground. People were unable to use their wells to fight the fire themselves. Firefighters had to deal with live power listens. Now, pg e is trying to restore power to this community. Neighbors are calling the fire suspicious. But investigators will be combing through the rubble well into the night to determine the cause. Meanwhile, sam, who lost all of his late wifes belonging in the fire is thankful nobody was hurt. A Fireworks Show in sacramento went on as scheduled, despite a major fire that was burning nearby. The 40acre fire started yesterday afternoon near the American River. Flames jumped from tree to tree, eventually reaching the cal expo fairgrounds. Cal expo, the raging waters park and other theesh areas were temporarily evacuated. Cal expo canceled last nights soccer game, but reopened for the Fireworks Show last night. We were waiting outside in the parking lot for an hour and a half waiting to come in, so, yeah, were stoked it was opened up. The fire was contained, but crews were on scene for most the night watching out for hot spots or flareups. A stockton man is being hailed a hero after he rushed into a houseful of smoke to rescue a 14yearold girl. It happened thursday afternoon just northeast of stockton. 58yearold gordon rip said he leapt into action when he saw smoke coming from a nearby garage. He banged on the door. A few minutes later, he learned a teenage girl was inside, taking a shower, unaware of the smoke. He rushed inside and carried the girl to safety. They came over and thanked me more than once. Theres your reward. Firefighters say the man likely saved the girls life by getting her out of the house in time. Oakland police were out overnight looking for illegal fireworks. Vehicles broken out. They believe its 100 additional officers patrolled city streets, already responding to 30 calls by 5 00 last night. One man says illegal fireworks are to blame for shattering his car window. Hes only had the car for a few months and bought it new back in november. Heard a bullet and i was in the shower. By the time i came outside, it was nobody was out there. I looked and seen the glass shattered. All fireworks are illegal within oakland city limits. Anyone caught with fireworks can face fines of up to 1000 and could be arrested. Sales of safe and sane fireworks are still legal in 15 bay area cities, including dublin. Proceeds go to charity, but some say the fireworks still pose a safety risk, especially in a record drought year that has left brush extremely dry. Safe and sane fireworks are, here kids, have a sparkler, go play. Its scary, you know, especially in these conditions. The Alameda County Fire Department had extra crews patrolling for illegal fireworks overnight. Firefighters say they responded to a handful of calls, but no major problems were reported. Were learning the driver who allegedly hit and killed a woman and her 2yearold daughter had two prior duis and history of being deported and returning to the u. S. Hairstylist Elena Dominguez and her daughter chloe died on willow pass one week ago today, when a 24yearold man lost control of his suv and hit their car. Friends day dominguezs husband luis survived with leg injuries, but is devastated about losing his wife and daughter. He said that he was in a lot of pain and a lot of heartache. Everybody liked her. She had just something about her. Police say the 24yearold driver was unlicensed and intoxicated when he hit dominguez. He also had two teenagers in his car who were not injured. He faces felony vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment. San jose Police Arrested a second teenager in connection with a violent Home Invasion and Sexual Assault on an 80 yearold woman. The suspects broke into the home and attacked a retired couple. A 15yearold was arrested after the suspects stole the couples suv and crashed it into a home. The second suspect was booked into the santa clara juvenile hall. Bart service is back to normal after a person was hit and killed on the tracks at the richmond station just after 4 30 yesterday afternoon. The collision forced the closure of the richmond and el cerrito delanorte stations. Service was restored in richmond around 8 15. New developments in a decadesold cold case. Detectives are looking for a possible witness in the stabbing deaths of six women in a case known as the gypsy hill murders. Five bay area women from pacifica, millbrae and daly city, and a sixth woman in reno were stabbed to death between january and april of 1976. Now, the fbi has identified a possible witness, a white man who was in his late twenties or early thirties at the time of the murders. Investigators have not said what led to a witness being identified and are asking anyone who may have information to come forward. Really if they saw something out of the ordinary, if they saw someone who frequented the area, maybe not at the right place at the right time, give us a call. The fbi says the man was in San Mateo County between january and april of 76 and was driving a car with nevada license plates. The cold Case Investigation was reopened in march after the fbi announced it had uncovered dna evidence linking the murders of five bay area women to the murder of a nevada nursing student. A bay area grandmother is released from the hospital after a violent assault in a san pablo casino. The 69yearold woman said she was attacked wednesday night while leaving the san pablo casino. She said a man offered to walk her to the parking lot, then put his hand down her shirt and tried to drag her to his car. The woman fell to the ground. Bystanders and casino staff rushed to help her. It was heartbreaking, to see her lip all swollen, a cast all the way from her ankle to the top of her thigh and she will have to be that way for eight weeks. The woman was released from the hospital yesterday after being treated for a concussion, bruises to her face and four fractures to her knee. Family members are asking anyone who witnessed the attack to contact police. Bay area native and u. S. Soccer player Chris Wondolowski finished his first world cup with team usa. Unfortunately, the team was eliminated in the round of 16 earlier this week. But as fred inglis tells us, it was a growing experience for players and bay area fans. Police say 33yearold Justin Harris told family members that he had a 27,000 Life Insurance policy on his son cooper. Officers also say that harris was sexting up to six women, including a 17yearold girl, on the day he left his son in the car. According to search warrants, harris also looked up articles on the internet that talked about surviving prison and living a childfree life. On the morning of june 18th, he drove to work and told police he forgot he left his son in the back seat. Flagcarrying demonstrators blocked buses carrying immigrants in marietta. Its forcing evacuations in an area bordering solano, yolo and napa counties. The fire was first reported around 9 30 last night off highway 128 at monticello dam, in an area near the southeast shore of the lake barieca. The grass fire has burned 1000 acres and is only 10 contained. There are mandatory evacuations in an area known as the golden bear estates in the city of winters in yolo county. 30 homes have been evacuated and a severe Traffic Alert is in effect for both directions of highway 128 between monticello road and napa county and Pleasant Valley road in Solano County. Theres no estimated time on when it will reopen. Stay with ktvu, as well be following this story throughout the morning. Another large fire in napa county is now 65 contained. Yesterday, calfire reopened roads in the area of pope valley west of lake barieca. Two homes were destroyed. All of the people who were evacuated on tuesday have been allowed to return to their homes. The fire has burned 4300 acres. In contra costa county, firefighters have also been busy trying to put out fast moving wildfires. News chopper 2 was above the fire this morning, burning through dry grass and brush in a field near bentley street in concord. The fire has burned two acres and was under control by 10 00 p. M. There was also a separate two acre fire near willow pass road in concord, and a threeacre blaze in martinez. A grass fire nearly wipes out a Small Community in Solano County. It started out as a little fire and then the next thing i know, here comes our whole house. Theres pieces flying, hitting us. The fire destroyed eight homes and damaged three others. Half the town was hit. Investigators dont know what caused the fire, but blamed strong winds for blowing flames from field to field and to homes and buildings across the town. Power was also knocked out, which meant homeowners could not pump water from wells to use against the fire. New information about a man electrocuted in oakland. The 19yearold was shocked, along with his half brother, late last night. Ktvus Christien Kafton joins us live this morning from just outside Police Headquarters, where officers say the incident should have never happened. Reporter yeah, Oakland Police are confirming that one man was killed, another injured when a live power line dropped down to the street. They say illegal fireworks may be to blame. When officers arrived on the scene at 89th avenue and birch street at about midnight in east oakland, illegal fireworks were going off in the night sky. Officers were initially called to a report of people injured and the possibility of gunshots in the area. But when officers arrived, they found two men on the ground, a small grass fire in the front yard of a home, and that downed power line. It appears they were electrocuted by a downed wire. What caused the wire is unclear at this point. It could have been gunfire. Could have been fireworks. Reporter this morning, we visited the scene. You could clearly see the separated power line and scorched grass from the downed power line. Officers confirm one man was killed when the live power line fell. Were hearing he was a 19year old man. Another was hospitalized. Were hearing that was his brother. No word on the extent of his injuries or how hes doing at this point. Oakland police did say they would be cracking down on the use of illegal fireworks this fourth of july holiday. There were an extra 115 officers on patrol last night, a total of 110 citations issued. Were hearing there were 13 felony arrests. Officers did say with the nice weather that we had last night and the fact that the fourth of july fell on a friday, they are calling this an illegal fireworks perfect storm. This weekend, local Law Enforcement agencies want to make sure you stay safe by looking out for drunk drivers. Most of the accidents happened at night. Law enforcement agencies say if you plan to drink this Holiday Weekend, be sure to have a designated driver. Mothers against drunk driving is teaming up with Ridesharing Service uber for a new campaign. The campaign is called uber madd, kicking off last night. Cal trans is reminding holiday drivers to expect backups in the area of interstate 280 in San Francisco this weekend. The northbound lanes from the 101 interchange to king street near at t park are still closed for retrofit repairs. A similar project shut down the southbound lanes during the memorial holiday. Cal trans is urging people heading into San Francisco this weekend to use mass transit. The northbound lanes of 280 are scheduled to reopen at 5 00 monday morning. Thousands of people gathered in San Francisco last night to watch the annual fourth of july fire work display. [ crowd cheering ] they were set off from a barge near pier 39 and it was a bit foggy out there, but many spectators say they were still able to see a great show. While most people stayed on land to watch, others took their fourth of July Celebration to the water. She was brushing her teeth wednesday night when the man came up behind her and inappropriately touched her. This assault comes as uc berkeley tries to crack down a Sexual Assaults on campus. The School Chancellor has pledged to host a summit next year to tackle the issue. Uc berkeley says there have been 10 cases since 2008 in which the school dismissed or suspended students for sexual misconduct. The search continues today for the pregnant wife of a Southern California marine who has now been missing for one week. The San Bernardino county Sheriffs Department says 19 yearold erin corwin disappeared under suspicious circumstances. Her husband, a marine corporal, told investigators he last saw his wife leaving their home headed to Joshua Tree National park last saturday morning. He said she was going to scout a location for a family outing. Volunteers have been looking for her all week. They found her abandoned car on monday. Corwin is three months pregnant. Chp says it is now investigating an incident caught on camera showing what it appears to be an officer sitting on top of a woman repeatedly punching her along a los angeles freeway. A passing driver recorded the confrontation on tuesday. Highway patrol says the officer was trying to restrain the woman who had been walking on interstate 10. The officer, whose name has not been released, says the woman was endangering herself and others driving there on the highway. The man who shot the video says he could not believe the officer was beating up a defenseless woman. You could see her head bouncing, bam, bam, on the concrete. I see 11 on the video. He took more shots than that. I think around 15 shots, to her head. The officer is on administrative leave, pending chp investigation. The woman was transported to the hospital for physical and mental evaluation. Starting tomorrow, parking will be free again at most San Francisco parking meters. Sunday meter operation began in 2013. But the storm, even with 100 mileperhour winds, caused far less damage to homes and businesses than many had feared. There have been no casualties or serious injuries reported, and that was our number one goal. So that puts a big smile on all our faces. Tomorrow marks one year since the asiana crash at San Francisco international airport. Flight 214 crashed short of the runway. The plane clipped a seawall on landing and eventually burst into flames. Three teenager girls from china were killed, 182 injured. The ntsb concluded last month the threemember flight crew which had a good safety record, relied too much on the planes automated Flight Systems, which they did not fully understand. The ntsb recommended that boeing create better training manuals and procedures. The board also advised the airline to provide more training and flight time to its pilots. Security is being stepped up at european airports over concern that a new type of bomb has been developed by alqaeda. The department of Homeland Security says the bomb is even harder to detect with current security screenings. Its now asking International Airports to increase security for flights heading to the u. The incident happened wednesday on an American Airlines flight from san diego to dallas. Cell phone video shows passengers rushing to help subdue a man who tried to stab himself in flight and threatened to rush the cockpit. Turned around and he had, like, toenail clippers all open with the file, trying to stab himself in the stomach. No one was hurt, but passengers say they were rattled by the incident. The fbi is questioning the man who they say speaks little english. The fbi has not said whether he is expected to face charges. A highspeed chase involving a tesla ended in a crash in west hollywood. Police say the tesla slammed into two vehicles, hit two light poles, then split in half. The driver was ejected through the front windshield. He is in critical condition. Five others, including two l. A. P. D. Officers were taken to the hospital much the chase began after police got a call about someone tampering with a car at a tesla dealership. His half brother was also shocked. Hes hospitalized with critical injuries. Ktvus Christien Kafton has been following the story this morning and is live from oakland Police Headquarters, as investigators try to determine if a Holiday Celebration went terribly wrong. Reporter good morning. Oakland police confirming one man was injured, another injured when the live power line fell. They are looking to see if illegal fireworks may have played a role in the accident. Upon arrival, we found two gentlemen down on the sidewalk in the street. It appears they were electrocuted by a downed wire. What caused the wire is unclear at this point. It could have been gunfire, could have been fireworks. Reporter you can see from the video when officers arrived on the scene at 89th avenue and birch street at about midnight in east oakland, illegal fireworks were going off in the night sky. We have reports the 19yearold man was killed when the power line dropped. Were hearing the man who was injured was the victims 23 yearolds brother who was trying to save his brother. No word on how extensive his injuries are or how exactly hes doing. Crews worked overnight to repair the line and restore power that had been knocked out in the area because of the downed power line. At the scene this morning, you could clearly ski that separated power line, scorched grass, and evidence of fireworks all over the place. Oakland police did say they were going to be cracking down on the use of illegal fireworks this fourth of july weekend. In all, an extra 115 officers were added to the patrol last night, issuing a total of 110 citations. Were hearing there were 13 felony arrests. Officers did say with the fourth of july falling on a friday and with the nice weather last night, they called it an illegal fireworks perfect storm. Live in oakland, Christien Kafton, ktvu channel 2news. San jose police have arrested a second teenager in connection with a violent Home Invasion and Sexual Assault on an 85yearold woman. The attack happened early Tuesday Morning on sun shadow lane. Police say the suspects broke in and attacked a retired couple who had lived in the home for more than 30 years. A 15yearold boy was arrested after the suspect stole the couples suv and crashed it into a vacant home. The 16yearold driver was located yesterday and has been booked into the santa clara juvenile hall. New developments in a decadesold cold case. Detectives say they are looking for a possible witness in the stabbing deaths of six women in a case known as the gypsy hill murders. Five bay area women from pacifica, millbrae and daly city, and a sixth woman in reno were stabbed to death between january and april of 1976. Well, now, the fbi has identified a possible witness, a white man who was in his late twenties or early thirties at the time of the murders. Investigators have not said what led to a witness being identified and are asking anyone who may have information to come forward. Really if they saw something out of the ordinary, if they thought someone was out of the ordinary, give police a call. The man was in San Mateo County between january and april of 76, driving a car with nevada license plates. The cold Case Investigation was reopened in march after the fbi announced it had uncovered dna evidence linking the murders of five bay area women to the murder of a nevada nursing student. Were learning the driver who allegedly hit and killed a woman and her child has been booked into jail. Beginning guess . And her daughter chloe died on willow pass road one week ago today, when a 24yearold man lost control of his suv and hit their car. Friends say dominguez is in a lot of pain and heartache. Everybody liked her. She had something about her. Police say 24yearold Gerardo Quinn was unlicensed and intoxicated when he hit dominguez. He also had a 12yearold and two teenagers in his car who were not injured. He faces charges including felony vehicular manslaughter and child endangerment. Oakland police were out in full force overnight looking for illegal fireworks and gunfire. Window is broken out. They believe fireworks Oakland Police say 115 additional officers were on patrol last night and issued more than 110 citations. Police also made 13 felony arrests. One man says illegal fireworks are to blame for shattering his car window. Hes only had a car a few months and bought it new back in november. I was in the shower. By the time i came outside, nobody was out there and i looked and seen the glass shattered. All fireworks are illegal within city limits. Sales of safe and sane fireworks are still legal in 15 bay area cities. Proceeds go to charities, but some say it is unsafe because of extremely dry brush. Here, kids, have a sparkler, go play, and its scary, you know, especially in these conditions. The alameda Fire Department had extra crews trolling for fireworks last night. They responded to a handful of calls, but no major problems were reported. A fire near the American River causing flames to jump tree to tree, eventually reaching the cal expo. Cal expo canceled last nights soccer game, but reopened for the Fireworks Show in the evening. We were waiting outside in the parking lot for an hour and a half, waiting to come in. Were stoked it was opened up, yeah. The fire is contained, but crews were on scene for most of the night watching out for any hot spots or flareups. A stockton area man is being hailed a hero after he rushed into a house full of smoke to rescue a 14yearold girl. It happened thursday afternoon in mirada, northeast of stockton. 58yearold gordon rip says he leapt into action when he saw smoke coming from the garage of a nearby home. He banged on the door, alerting a woman and child inside. A few minutes later, he learned a teenage girl was still in the house and was taking a shower, unaware of the smoke. He rushed inside and carried that girl to safety. They came over and thanked me more than once and theres your reward. The home was destroyed in the fire. Firefighters say the man likely saved the girls life by getting her out of that house in time. Bay area native and usc Soccer Player Chris Wondolowski just finished his first world cup with team usa. Police say 33yearold Justin Harris told family members he had a 27,000 Life Insurance policy on his son cooper. According to search warrants, harris looked up articles online that talked about surviving prison and living a childfree life. Harris says on the morning of june 18th he drove to, work and forgot his son was in the back seat. Flagcarrying demonstrators blocked buses in Southern California, carrying Illegal Immigrants in marietta. Police say five people were arrested in the clashes in Riverside County on the fourth of july, including a protester who is accused of jumping on the back of an officer. Mariettas mayor says the city has been told to expect the rivals of more than 100 undocumented immigrants every 72 hours for the next several weeks. A wildfire is forcing evacuations in an area bordering solano, yolo and napa counties. Calfire pio daniel is joining us on the phone. And were talking about somewhere near highway 128 just south of Lake Berryessa . Yeah. This fire started at 9 30 off highway 128. Its quickly grown. Right now its over 1,000 acres. We have a lot of resources at the scene battling the fire. But much like we saw last week with the fire outside of napa county, its fast moving. Tell me about the evacuations. What counties are around the fire and are folks being told to get out of there . Were working with the Sheriffs Department to evacuate the golden bear estate, which is a subdivision, a very rural subdivision as well as the canyon creek resort campground. Theyve been evacuated as this fire has continued to grow. Its still several miles away from the homes but we wanted to make shaur that we got the homeowners out of harms way as the fire continues to progress in their direction. With the sun the biggest problem for you guys right now, is it the wind . You guys have light conditions . Is it the terrain . The terrain is making it difficult. Inaccessibility. This is the similar terrain like napa county, rolling hillside, a lot of thick brush and very, very dry. We already have our aircraft flying, but there is an inversion layer over the fire which is making it difficult for the aircraft to see but weve made several drops. Now the concern is as the day goes on, the temperatures heat up, that inversion layer lifts and the fire activity will pick up as well. So again, a lot of reverses being diverted from the other fires that have been contained and moved to this fire. Theres a lot of ability for this fire to grow. One last question, you are actually dropping right now. Are you talking about the choppers or are they actually flames . We had two air tankers already on it within the past 15 minutes or so. They made their first drops. Again, as they got over the scene, it was very lift for them to see with the inversion layer. We have a kommer about a mile copter about a mile out or so, they will start to make bucket drops. One the inversion layer lifts, thats when the aircraft will be critical. Fire activity will pick up. It will start moving very rapidly and the aircraft will start to drop retardant and work to slow it down. Ground and air resources. We have at it. This is one of many fires over the next couple of days. Its very important everybody be careful outdoors. All right. Daniel talking about the fire burning just south of Lake Berryessa near highway 18. Appreciate the time on this saturday morning. Another large fire in napa county is now 70 contained. Yesterday, calfire reopened roads in the area of pope valley west of Lake Berryessa. Crews also say they stopped a spread of the fire toward populated areas. Two homes were destroyed. All of the people evacuated on tuesday have been allowed to return to their houses. The fire has burned 4300 acres. New this morning, weve learned the identities of the two men hit by a power line in oakland. A 19yearold was electrocuted while his half brother received critical injuries. Christien kafton joins us live with more. Reporter yeah, cristina, in the last 20 minutes, Oakland Police released the nails of the victims involved in this deadly accident. They say the man was 19year old jermaine tarber. The man injured, red. This whole accident may have happened because of a downed power line. They say that downed power line may have been down by illegal fireworks or possibly celebratory gunfire. Reporter when officers arrived at the scene at 89th and burch street before midnight last night, Oakland Police say there were illegal fireworks going off in the night sky. Officers were initially called to a report of people injured and the possibility of gunshots. When they arrived, they found two men on the ground, a small grass fire in the front of a home and that downed power line. It appears they were electrocuted by a downed wire. What caused the wire is unclear. It could have been gunfire, fireworks. Reporter out at the scene this morning, you could still see the damaged power line and the scorched grass. Weve heard reports that the two men were brothers or half brothers and the 23yearold treslian red may have been trying to save his brother. The officer said the woman was endangering herself and others driving out on the highway. The man who shot the video said he cannot believe the officer was beating up a defenseless woman. Now, Oakland Police tell us there were an extra 115 officers on patrol cracking down on the use of illegal fireworks. In all, were hearing, there were 110 citations issued and 13 felony arrests. Now, 15yearold boy was arrested after the suspects stole the couples suv and crashed it into a vacant home. The 16yearold driver was located yesterday and has been booked into the santa clara juvenile hall. A bay area grandmother has been released from the hospital after a violent assault at a san pablo casino. The 69yearold woman said she was attacked wednesday night while leaving the lytton casino. She said the man offered to walk her to the parking lot, put his hand down her shirt. The woman fell to the ground and bystanders scrambled to help her. It was hard. She has an ankle on. The woman was released from the hospital yesterday after being treated for a concussion. Bruises to her face and four fact churs to her knee fractures to her knee. Anyone who wasnted the who wasnted the attack witnessed the attack are asked to call police. Five bay area women from pacifica, millbrae and daly city and a six blth woman were stabbed to death between january and april of 1976 in the gypsy killings. The fbi has identified a possible witness. A white man in his 20s or 30s at the time of the murders. Investigators have not said what led hem to the witness being identified but they are asking anyone with information to come forward. Really, if they saw something that was out of the ordinary, if they thought something frequented the area from nevada, maybe not at the right place at the right time, to give us a call. The fbi says the man was in the San Mateo County area between january and april of 1976 and was driving a car with nevada plates. The cold Case Investigation was reopened in march after the fbi announced it had uncovered dna evidence linking the murders of the five bay area women to the murder of a nevada nursing student. B. A. R. T. Service is back to normal after a person was hit and killed at the richmond station at 4 30 yesterday afternoon. The collision forced the toesh closure of the closure of the el cerrito station. He banged on the door alerting a woman and child inside. A few minutes later, he learned a teenaged girl was still in the home and was taking a shower unaware of the smoke.
