Friends and family are mourning the death of a hostage killed after a bank robbery, highspeed chase and police shootout. Were live in stockton digging for details and answers this morning. She has new information on the innocent woman taken hostage and killed and what her family is saying about the way police handled the chaotic situation that unfolded. A lot to cover on this story. I expect thunderstorms to pop up like they did yesterday. If you are up in the tahoe, truckee or reno, you could get thunderstorms. A few storms from Mendocino County, lake county from the tropical low cloud deck. 50s out of the temperatures, out of the 60s for most. There are a few low 60s. Generally running cooler. The breeze has been no doubt about it almost due west for many unless you are towards the peninsula you are getting a south breeze. The low clouds might be slow to burn off for some. Cooler, breezy for almost everybody. Temperatures coming down. A lot of 70s, low 80s. 60s, 70s, coast and bay. Heres sal into were looking at a commute thats full strength. Were at the peak of it. Were looking at the bay bridge, about a 25, 30minute drive time into San Francisco. It seems to be improving now which is early for it to show signs improvement. Were not complaining. Once you get on the bridge. It looks good. Again, 25, 30minute drive time in San Francisco. Were looking at the commute on 880 oakland. This commute tends to get going later. Well check in throughout the morning. But at 8 00 is usually when you start to see stopandgo traffic. San jose has been well behaved. 85 looking good up to 17. 280 slow at 17. 101 has been marred by a couple of crashes, sunnyvale, Mountain View. If you are driving on Mountain View, any time after 880, you will see a lot of low traffic. 280, 85, not bad. Lets go back to the desk. Now to our continuing coverage of the Deadly Bank Robbery chase and shootout in stockton. 30 minutes ago, we received new information about the three suspects. Stockton Police Released this picture of the only surviving suspect, 19yearold jaime ramos. Police say the other two killed were documented gang members. All three were from stockton. Katie utehs is in stockton where evidence is being gathered where the chase came to an end. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Police tell us they recovered three handguns from that vehicle as well as the Assault Rifle that weve been telling you about all morning. We are here along thornton road where the suspect suv remains. Police are still processing it hours after the chase ended here yesterday. A storm of gunfire exchanged between bank robbers and Stockton Police at the end of a highway chase with hostages. It also preliminarily appears that one of the gunman used the third and final hostage as a shield. Reporter family of the victim says misty simply tried to withdraw money from the bank of the west along thornton road yesterday afternoon. She left her kid in the car. She goes inside. Whatever happened, happened. Her daughter has to text her husband saying they took mom. Reporter what happened inside the bank took a matter of minutes. A Security Guard called for help before the group of three latino men tied him up. Then they took three women by gunpoint and sped away. Three pointed guns at the women at the tellers who work here. They had them to their heads. Reporter police say the robbers shot a Bank Employee. She either jumped or was thrown from the suv and is expected to survive. Police say the robbers fired shots from this ak47. As the chase sped from lodi back to stockton. During the 45minute pursuit, another hostage tossed from the vehicle. She suffered a grazing bullet wound. I could see the car getting blasted. I could see all of the sparks and everything off the car. Reporter as the crackle of gunfire seized, a robber dead in the suv, another robber died at the hospital. The third, conscious and in police custody. The hail of bullets, so relentless, its unclear who fired the fatal shots. It was not clear and will not be for some time when the hostage was shot or by whom. Reporter as weve learned, the surviving rob police say is a 19yearold. Were still working to learn when his First Court Appearance will take place. Police are expected to bring in new officers this morning to relieve the officers that have been here overnight. Volunteers have already come to relieve the officers that have the road blocked. Were learning new information about this weeks brutal attack on a san jose hiking trail. It happened after midnight monday morning along Guadalupe River park trail. Police now say what they describe as a Hostile Group viciously stabbed a man while he was walking down the trail. The man in his 50s is still in the hospital recovering from several stab wounds. Its still not clear what led up to the attack. That stabbing early monday came during a very busy 24hour period for the San Jose Police. Officers also raced to the scene of a fight involving a baseball bat, an armed robbery, an armed Home Invasion and several other serious crimes. Responding to all. These crimes was a major challenge for San Jose Police because the department is dealing with a severe Staffing Shortage forcing mandatory overtime and other drastic measures. 7 07. An accused prostitute charged with killing a google executive on his yacht last november will go back to court in october. 26yearold Alix Tichleman pleaded not guilty yesterday to charges that include manslaughter. For the first time, her lawyers talked to the news media. They say tichleman and forest hayes conskinually took consentually took drugs together. He was a lucrative source of income to her. Appreciated his generosity and she had a motive, if any, to elongate, not he end the relationship. Once the proceedings ended her family left the courtroom quickly. Prosecutors say more evidence will come out proving that tichleman killed hayes. Her bail is still set at 1. 5 million. A santa rosa woman accused of attacking a young boy who she claimed was bullying her daughter could find out today if shell face charges. 30yearold delia garcia has a hearing in court. Sheriffs deputies arrested her in may claiming she went to her daughters Elementary School during lunch and grabbed a 12 yearold boy by the throat. Now, her lawyer says garcia bratchard went to the school but never laid a hand on the boy. She has six children and could be charged with suspicion of chimed a child abuse. John avalos as knowledged he had a romantic relationship with his aide in an affair that has violated city rules. The the rules state they must note by their bosses if they become involved with a subordinate. Hes separated from his wife. The couple has two children. Hes now released this statement to ktvu. It seats nearly 70,000 people and theres space to add additional seating for super bowl 2015. When this was built, technology was kept in mind. Theres stadiumwide wifi, plugs on beverage stands where you can charge your cell phone. There will be an app where you can order ticketing, order food and watch replays. It was built with solar panels as well as a green roof. Theres a team store, a 49ers museum as well as a restaurant run by world renowned chef michael meman. A bay area man with a troubled past and a criminal history, hes looking forward to this years San Francisco marathon as part of his road to recovery and redemption. This is ronnie goodman. He spent his day painting and he works in a friends store but he starts his day by running. He started running during the 8 and a half years he was jailed at san quentin on a burglary conviction. He says getting arrested made him look at his drug use and forced him to change. I stopped using when i got arrested. And i said you know what . Thats it. This is the turning point in my life. Enough is enough. Now goodman is homeless. He lives on the streets now waiting for a Residential Hotel room to open up. In the meantime, hes thankful to hospitality house. Theyve given him painting supplies. Look at his work. One of his paintings will be raffled off at the marathon a week from sunday. All of the money goes to the hospitality house so it can continue to help other people. 7 16. A new milestone for San Francisco home prices. Median home price now 1 million for a home or condo in the city. Thats up 13 over last year. Marin county also topping 1 million. For the bay areas nine counties, the price in june was 618,000. 7 17. Its not your typical Police Training exercise. Officers actually served drinks to volunteers before testing them for dui. Ktvu had exclusive access to yesterdays session in San Francisco. Here is how it works. After serving drinks to two and a half hours, 11 howevers from around the bay area, gave the volunteers field sobriety tests. They watched their eye movements, how well they could walk a Straight Line and if they kept their balance. The quality of instruction is at a high level and the folks train leave here how it perform the tests accurately. Police say the training is crucial to combating drunk driving in the bay area. 7 18. Lets bring sal back. How see everyone is banking on the roads. Were looking at a commute that is right at the full peak here for the next halfhour or so. 24 still looks good driving to the tunnel if you are driving from Pleasant Hill road to the tunnel, its only about an eightminute drive. We like that. Average speed, just below 65 miles an hour. We havent had any major problems here. We continue to be in good shape when it comes to this commute and also the nearby commute. 680 through walnut creek and 24 heading eastbound. This is a look at weekend bay bridge. Thats already improved from the last time we saw it. This is more like a 15 to 20 minute drive time into San Francisco and there are no major problems. Of course, i always check Public Transportation and b. A. R. T. And muni and caltrain are reporting on time. I do have some slow traffic for you. 580 if you are a Livermore Valley commuter. Most of the traffic in livermore is slow. I want to zoom in here on 880, its backed up from 238 and your drive time down to the thornton avenue or down to stevenson is going to be slow. A pretty good fog bank extending from San Francisco out to sacramento yet mostly sunny in the south bay. Fog, drizzle. Theres been a few reports of drizzing and measurable amounts, around the bay, sausalito,. 04. Cooler pattern. Unless you are up to Mendocino County andlake county, you might have to deal with the tropical clouds. The quiet pattern continues as we head towards friday, saturday, sunday. We lose most of the higher clouds. Its hard to see it but the low clouds extending there. Mostly clear to the south. Thunderstorms quieting down now but i expect them to pop up later today, reno, tahoe, mammoth, bear valley, things popping u thats some of that popping you. Thats some of that tropical weather. Kind of a mixed bag in the north bay. The breeze has picked up. The Higher Elevations have cooled way down since monday. I think angwin was 85. Today 55. Thats a tremendous drop. 1700 feet, 2,000 feet, that cooler air is changing things big time. More 50s to the north than 60s. The breeze picking up, 26 out to fairfield. That helps even cool down sacramento. So the delta preez is in force, mainly a west wind, peninsula, south bay, still dealing with the southeast. 63 palo alto, 62 foster city, belmont, upper 50s to mid50s la honda, that breeze again for most is west. Hayward, sfo, livermore. San jose, a little east southeast. Same for Mountain View and also Half Moon Bay. That keeps things mild. Thunderstorms are really popping up over the sierra and also from Oklahoma City down to texas. Thats the main focus of severe weather. The big news continues to be how cool it is. We have 56 in chicago. 63 in atlanta and 73 in new orleans. This morning. Thats cool to july all the way down to the gulf coast. The temperatures in San Francisco and oakland were the same at chicago and also atlanta. Thats not something you see in july. We do see a lot of fog here. Its packed for most. Happening now a hearing is underway into the disappearance of irs emails at the center of the Tea Party Targeting scandal. Todays hearing comes as the Justice Department is expanding its investigation into the scandal as well. The irs has said a computer crash caused it to lose many crucial emails between 2009 and 2011 and they could not be recovered. Many missing emails are thought to contain insight into allegations the oirs unlawfully targeted conservative groups in the leadup to the 2012 president ial election. Time now 7 22.
