This is traffic thats normal even though okay at this point in the morning means about a 30 minute delay. At least no accidents or stalls. I want to mention that caltrain is delayed if you take the system, you will see some delays throughout the system as caltrain has tweeted that and also sent that information to 511. If you are driving on the eastshore freeway, traffic here looks pretty good. Its a little slow in the richmond area, but 24 minutes at this time of the morning between the carquinez bridge and the macarthur maze, its not too bad. Back to the desk. All right. Thank you, sal. We continue to follow breaking news in oakland. A large warehouse fire was first reported just before 5 00 this morning at stone and san leandro streets. Ktvus brian flores was the first reporter on the scene and joins us live with more on the firefighters and the challenge they face fighting this fire. Reporter good morning. Firefighters remain on scene and will be here for quite some time battling this threealarm fire. You are taking a look at this old carpet depot business thats not been in business for quite some time from what we understand from businesses. We did see flames up. Firefighters will be here until it is fully contained. We go to the fire. When we first arrived at 5 15, around 4 00 when the fire first stard, huge flames coming out of the old carpet depot store in oakland. The cause of the fire still unknown but the latest update we got from firefighters, it started at an abandoned camper shell located behind the old warehouse. The area is known for people lighting trash on fire. When we arrived, firefighters said squatters were seen leaving the area as well. The fire got so big, that a crew had exhausted all of their resources and called for a secondalarm at 5 02. A third alarm was called at 5 24. Some type of housing unit wass about returned in the fire. Overall, four people have been displaced. The red cross is here to help out. There are also electrical birs hanging above the fire, the warehouse that made it difficult to fight the fire. Hes sound from fire officials. We had wires down that were live power lips. We werent able to get as close as we wanted to. It quickly went to a defensive fire. We had to make sure that the firefighters and the citizens in the area were safe as well. Reporter and because of the fire, pg e cut power to around the area as well. The fire caused damage to the lines. The latest from pg e during the height of the fire is that more than 5,000 customers were affected. That number has dropped to 2600 customers. As we take it back out here live, again, still very active scene. We have seen a few flare popups inside the building as well on the roof. They are attacking it from above with ladder pipes, at least three of them and a couple of fire engines as well. Oakland firefighters will be here until it is fully contained. Theres one injury to a firefighter, they say its a minor injury. This firefighter was trying to cut through a doorway. He was taken to a hospital. Hes expected to be okay. Police are looking for the gunman responsible for a deadly shooting in East Palo Alto. One teenager was killed. Three other young people were hurt. Ktvus janine de la vega has been talking to Police Officers who have been on the scene since 11 30 last night. Good morning, janine. Reporter good morning, tori. Actually, police just rolled up their crime tape and they just left the scene. But they are still investigating back at the office. They want to talk to the surviving victims and the young people who also didnt get shot in this shooting. They want to know why a gunman opened fire here at georgetown and purdue. Police say at about 11 30 last night, there were six people sitting inside a toyota camry when a man started shooting at them. Bullets hit four passengers. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to help. But an 18yearold man in the car died from his injuries. The other man and two other women are being treated but are expected to survive. They are at stanford hospital. Officers are trying to figure out if the shooter approached on foot or was in another car. They say the crime is pretty brazen. It seems the car or the other people inside were targeted. Right now, were still conducting the investigation and talking to those surviving victims and other witnesses to determine what exactly happened. Reporter a tow truck hauled away the camry shot at for evidence in this police investigation. We dont know who owns it but the driver was not shot. Everyone in the car was between 18 to 20 years old. The identity of the man who died is not being released yet but we were told thattese from East Palo Alto. We asked if any words were exchanged between the gunman and the victims or if they knew each other. Police are still working to get those answers. Theyve not released the suspect description but are hoping to once they get more details from the survivors, again, they need to talk to them after they are treated there in the hospital. Thank you, janine. 11 suspected East Palo Alto gang members are due in a San Mateo County courtroom this morning. They are accused of taking part in a series of killings and other Violent Crimes across the peninsula during the past few years. Officers arrested them earlier this year in an attempt to crack down on violent street gangs in the East Palo Alto area. Nine of the defendants who are charged with murder could face the Death Penalty if they are convicted. 7 09. A tourist visiting San Francisco recovering now after he was shot in the leg in the tenderloin district. It happened yesterday morning. Police say the man was walking with his wife near polk and ellis streets when he was hit by a bullet. Investigators say the couple was not targeted. Police took a woman into custody. She may face charges of attempted murder. There is a bizarre new development involving jahi mcmath, the oakland girl declared brain dead last year. The tribune reports the new york facility thats helping the mcmath family says jahi is heading back home here to the bay area. The facility put out a call for backtoschool supply, bedding, clothing and other donations for the 13yearold. However, the lawyer for the mcmath family denies the claim of that facility. Jahi was declared brain dead in december following surgery to take out her tonsils. Many Bay Area Schools back in session. Law enforcement officials want to make sure drivers watch out for kids. According to a new report, 26 of all Elementary SchoolStudents Walk or bike to school. This year more Police Officers will Patrol School zones in San Francisco. They will provide extra enforcement to make sure mandatory speed limits are kept around schools. Two years ago, San Francisco became the first city in the state to install 15milean hour school zones citywide. Its designed to reduce speeding and encourage families to walk and bike to school. Happening right now, fathers in San Franciscos bayviews hunter point neighborhood are taking a stance against violence by using a backtoschool tradition. Police say people were throwing molotov cocktails, looting and damaging businesses. Two people were wounded in shootings by civilians, according to police. Because there have been protests almost every night since Michael Brown was shot on august 9th, missouris governor is now calling for a dramatic step. Sunday night saw some of the most fierce protesters. Now, governor jay nixon is calling up the missouri National Guard to help restore order in the st. Louis suburb. This all comes hours after a family attorney said the autopsy they arranged found brown was shot six times, twice in the head, though not from close range. Two civilians were shot sunday not by police, though. Authorities say defiant protesters threw molotov cocktails. Reporter the protests intensified friday after Police Identified the shooter as officer Darren Wilson and releasing a video that shows brown roughing up a store clerk and stealing cigars. They love their child. They had every right for their child to have due process of the law. Reporter one more side note, tori, we do also know there was a smaller and separate demonstration during the overnight hours in nearby st. Louis. This was in support of officer Darren Wilson, the officer who reportedly shot and killed 18 yearold Michael Brown. Meanwhile, looking ahead, we know that the brown family along with their attorneys are expected to make a public appearance later today for a press conference, specifically to address those autopsy results that you just heard about, the private autopsy arranged by the brown family. More than 100 people rallied there yesterday afternoon in support of officer Darren Wilson. Hes the officer that shot and killed Michael Brown. Supporters say the tv station aired video of officer wilsons house. The station has apologized and removed that video from their website. A representative with the Police OfficersAssociation Says this is a tough time for both browns family and officer wilson. Parents in Sonoma County will open their kids backto School Packets and find tips about gun safety. Its a safety fact shoot that followings the shooting death of andy lopez last year after a deputy mountain took the boys deputy mistook the boys air soft gun for a real gun. Later, there will be a News Conference dealing with a bill that would remove the temporary removal of firearms for people at risk of committing violence. The mass killing near Uc Santa Barbara earlier this year prompted this proposal. Seven people, including the shooter, all died during a shooting rampage in an off campus community. The bill would create a restraying order that would temporarily stop a mentally unstable person from buying and possessing firearms. 7 18. California could be the first state in the country to regulate the use of antibiotics in poultry and cattle. But environmentalists are opposed. The old bill would ban ranchers from using antibiotics just to increase the animals weight. Opponents say the bill is too weak.
