So again partly cloudy skies this morning. As we roll through your sunday afternoon notice the clouds continue to pass on by. That is really going to be about it. The onshore breeze will be a little stronger today and again our temperatures, notice widespread 60s on the map. Not 70s. Some of us even broke a few records yesterday. So i will put some numbers on the screen, in the extended forecast still tracking the possibility of rain. Ill have the update on that coming up. Happening now a billion dollar state of the art medical facility is officially opening in stores along the San Francisco waterfront. It is a potentially lifesaving project that has been in the works for years. Ktvus allie russmus at the campus where some patients are being transferred to the new facility. Not an easy process. Reporter its a huge logistical operation. It took 15 years of planning and cost 1. 5 billion to build. Todays the first day the usf Mission Bay Campus will be in operation. A new hospital . You need patients. Thats whats happening this morning. Theres 125 patients that will be transported from the ucsf parnassus campus to the Mission Bay Campus. The way they will do that is, take 40 ambulances to transport all the people. In fact right at that intersection there you can see the headlights of three ambulances pulling up. Ambulances will be arriving every four minutes, they are going to be taking some of these patients to that new Mission Bay Campus. They will be escorted by police. Along the way the patients have been matched up with specific ambulances in order to make sure all their needs are met on the ride over to this new hospital. We talked to ucsfs ceo about this logistical operation. Its a huge number of people, obviously getting the ambulances but also the families, the patients, getting them all ready. Its a big day, a big deal. Reporter the new campus hospital has a lot of new technology they are touting. They have 25 medical robots that can roam the halls, traveling about 12 miles a day they expect of this new campus. And they will be able to transport and dispense food and medication and the patient rooms also come equipped with a lot of equipment. Monitors and tablets that allow patients to do things like view their own xrays and test results from the come pert of their room. Again the ucsf misbay campus, its the first day in operation and right now were watching part of the process. Some ambulances here that will be transporting 125 patients from this campus over to that new hospital. What type of patients . There are some cancer patients, there are some pediatric patients, some young kids that will be heading over. Also some infants from the neoinatal intensive care unit will be going to the new campus. Were told there were three women who were about to deliver at the parnassus one, they were hoping to get to the new one in time to deliver babies in time. Were told they went into labor this morning so they will be staying here at the old hospital delivering their babies and then once things settle down later on today the new moms and babies, three of them, three moms, three babies, will be heading to the new Mission Bay Campus. They will get there eventually. Reporter yes. According to the hospital representatives the new moms were hoping to deliver their babies, be the first to deliver in the new hospital. A large Apartment Fire in San Francisco displaced more than two dozen people. That fire started 1 20 yesterday afternoon at a building near alamo square in the citys western addition. It grew to four alarms. 100 firefighters battled the flames as they spread to two other buildings. A 71yearold tenant and her great grandson said they didnt even know the building was burning they knocked my windows out. We was running downstairs and we seen fire. In the den. I was scared and he was crying. And i was crying. It was terrible. One firefighter went to the hospital with the leg injury and exhaustion but will be ok. No tenants were hurt. The red cross has been helping some of them find temporary housing. Investigators say they dont know what started that fire but they dont think it was intentionally set. A former champion swimmer at stamford is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow on Sexual Assault charges. 19yearold brock turner faces five felony counts including rape. Solano county Health Officials confirmed the first case friday night. There are three cases in san mateo at least and two more in morerin county including siblings. So about one million toyota and honda vehicles with airbags made by takata are being recalled again. The airbags can deploy with so much force they can cause injury or death. Weve got some weak system actually moving through the Pacific Northwest for today. This is actually helping to weaken the ridge of High Pressure over our area. So for today, a mix of sun and clouds, high clouds in the forecast. And temperatures not as warm as we were yesterday. We can even pick up a little bit of moisture over areas here. No rain from this but temperatures will be coming down and that will be the story for sunday. Lets track the possibility of rain. Its going to come next week and looks like by thursday it starts to change up could last into saturday. So for today, tomorrow, monday, tuesday and wednesday. Those systems continue to ride over and through the Pacific Northwest but we remain dry. By thursday morning though its a lot closer to the bay area. By thursday night it begins to shift in.
