Thats a mess from earlier crashes in Pleasant Hill that have been moved to the side. 680 and 242 are backed up from highway 4. You need extra time on this commute. Its 7 02. Back to the desk. Thank you, sal. Police in sunnyvale are investigating a shooting involving an officer from another south bay city and a suspected car burglar. Janine de la vega joins us live from sunnyvale to tell us how this all unfolded. Reporter police had this intersection at El Camino Real and wolfe road closed for several hours gathering evidence that they hoped would lead them to a White Mercedes sedan. The roads are reopen. But officers are hoping any witnesses will come forward. It started at 6 00 in the city of santa clara, where two officers were investigating auto burglaries and found a suspect. They followed the suspect vehicle, that White Mercedes sedan into the city of sunnyvale. When the sedan pulled over on el camino there wolfe road. One officer got out of the vehicle and approached the mercedes. Police say thats when the mercedes sped toward the officer and that officer feared for his life. I wish we had more details on the vehicle. Obviously, may have bullet holes on the right side. Were continuing to investigate and look into the matter and see what else we can find out. See if theres additional witnesses. If somebody witnessed something, i would appreciate a call. Reporter the second officer chased the mercedes on wolfe road but lost it. Neither officer was injured. Its unknown if anyone in the mercedes was hit. The Sunnyvale Department of safety is heading you the investigation. They are unsure how many people were in the mercedes and are working to get a license plate number. The detectives are also look looking to see if there was any Surveillance Video in the area that may have captured the chase or the shooting. A 24hour Safeway Store in san rafael just reopened this morning after a fire forced it to shut town. Alex savidge has more. Reporter brian, good morning. The Safeway Store back open after this fire that broke out here near the stores loading dock in the back. Store. This is where a trailer that was parked in this area caught fire. You can see that part of the store was charred there. You can see the wall and the burn marks there. But fire crews are able to come in here and contain the fire before it could do any more damage to the store itself. Let me show you some photos tweeted out bite the San Rafael Fire Department after they were called out to the supermarket. This fire started around 11 30 last night. That trailer that caught fire had a pressure washer inside of it that was being used to clean the store. That trailer was destroyed but thankfully flames didnt spread to some of the flammable and Combustible Materials inside the loading dock. The fire, however, did send quite a bit of smoke drifting into the store. That prompted the closure of this Safeway Store that normally would be open 24 hours a day. The store after they let the smoke dissipate inside finally reopened about 6 00 this morning. Customers were allowed to come back inside and right now, brian, investigators with the San Rafael Fire Department trying to figure out exactly what caused that trailer to catch fire. I think firefighters certainly caught a break here, they were able to stop the fire from spreading into the store itself. They certainly did great work from keeping it from spreading into a medical Marijuana Dispensary in berkeley can stay up and running while it defend itself in court. The berkeleys Patient Group is on san pablo near ban cost. A judge has agreed to allow it to stay open pending a hearing. In may of 2013. Federal officials moved to close the dispensary. The 9th Court Circuit of appeals will decide whether berkeley can join the fight. To have the federal government come in and shut down the citys dispensaries, any one of them would be catastrophic for the city. A San Francisco water water manager faces a fiveday suspension for allegedly urinating into a sierra foothills reservoir. Coworkers saw martin urinate and this usually holds water as drinking water. The puc said the reservoir has drained at the time and theres no Health Danger to the public . This weekends storm brought a lot of water to the bay area. What does it mean for the drought . Lexington jumped 8 feet over the weekend. The santa clara Water District said the reservoirs went to 38 capacity. But they are not exactly celebrating. They are still below normal. Were still in a drought. Its just good to see the water in the reservoir. It was a good thing this was two storms one after the another. The second produced more runoff into the reservoirs. East bay m. U. D. And the San FranciscoPublic Utilities commission say the storms brought several inches of rain and boosted their reservoirs. Still, the biggest concern is warm temperatures and the snowpack is a third of what it should be. The north bay has so much water right now from the storm, Officials Say theyve resorted to pumping some of it into the bay. The marin Water District says they are at 98. 4 of capacity. Many lakes and reservoirs are starting to spill over from the storm. So the Water District is now sending thousands of gallons a minute out into the bay. Creeks and water falls that were dry are now flowing which is attracting many people to popular hiking spots. A San FranciscoRide Sharing Company is getting into the delivery business. Side car has been offering delivery in the city. Now it says its expanding the service to ten more cities. Side car says it will match business deliveries with passenger rides through its app. The company says it expects same day delivery of meals, groceries and flowers. Will make up half of the business by the end of the year. Some San Francisco teenagers are getting ready to cut the cord to their gadgets. Its all part of the nationwide tech timeout challenge. According to the examiner, students at sacred heart in San Francisco will turn in their laptops, phones and tablets on thursday. They wont be able to plug in for three days. The school is the first in the bay area to take part in this challenge. It does start picking up a little bit once you make it onto the span, as you can see from this live picture. I think one of the worse commutes is concord to walnut creek. We had a couple of earlier crashs that why in the lanes. They that were in the lanes. They are off to the side. Traffic is slow in the area. 580 as well. Weve had a couple of minor crashes and 680. She was kidnapped by Islamic State militants in august of 2013 while leaving a hospital in syria. She was killed in a Jordanian Air strike. But jordan dismissed that claim as propaganda. We dont have any word on how she died. This comes as president obama could ask congress as early as today to allow u. S. Military force to fight Islamic State militants in iraq and syria. There is support to go after isis but the word of authorization will be the sticking point. Most americans favor an allout fight against isis including the possibility of using ground troops. Many democrats are hesitant to go that far. It will be the first war vote in congress in 13 years. Pack in 2002, Congress Passed a resolution authorizing president bush to use force against iraq. And that is a vote Many Democrats have regretted. New intelligence shows isis has been developing plans to kidnap more international hostages. There are concerns they will try to target refugee camps just across the border from syria.
