This is where volunteers a little later on this morning will be gathering to start one of their regular saturday searches. This something going to be the last formal organized weekly search for clues in the disappearance of sierra lamar who went missing three years ago today. I have with me roger nelson, hes the volunteer search coordinator. You and some of the volunteers have been here week after week every saturday except for a few holidays for the last three years. I think people would find that dedication impressive. What brings you guys every week. I think its a group of exceptional volunteers and it represents the best of the bay area, so the reason were here is to bring sierra home to her family. If it provides some element of closure thats the motivation. Theyre expected to make an announcement that theyre suspending their regular saturday searches but you were telling me that doesnt mean the end of the search for her. It doesnt. What the family will announce, theyre suspending the formal aspect of the searches. Were reaching out to the public for viable and specific information and tips and well still be receiving those and well be evaluating and acting on those tips. Also should anything come out in the trial, that is helpful for us in our sips, than we can searches than we can reform as a passionate group. A man was charged with her murder, his trial has not begun yet. Youre hoping once the trial starts more information will come out that will legal volunteers to more clues. Well check back in with you in a bit. A Napa County Major Crimes task force is investigating a deadly shooting in napa. It happened at 5 00 in the alda heights neighborhood near highway 121. Thats where napa police had a home under surveillance, they were searching for a man with drugs and he was 41. They heard gunshots and they saw plain clothed officers with the suspect on the ground. Two had their guns drawn, one was standing over the guy and one was standing off to the side. Our chopper took motorcycle the suspect had been riding on prior to the shooting. Police are not commenting on what led up to that shooting, they say they did recover a gun belonging to the suspect. These are tragic for the individuals as well as for the family and officers involved. Theres a ripple out effect. As standard procedure, the officer who opened fire is now on paid leave pending the results of the investigation. The Office Certificate a member of the Police Department special enforcement unit, there was another Deadly Police shooting in the same neighborhood back in 2010.
