Janine de la vega is there looking into what happened and the action the airport is taking now. Good morning. Welcome to mornings on 2. Its wednesday, april 1st. Im Tori Campbell. Good morning. Good morning. Im dave clark. Lets talk about weather and traffic. Its a little cool this morning. A little chilly. Cold for some. This could be an interesting month. I think a colder, wetter pattern with snow in the mountains. Chilly lows, its a nice morning. Its cold out there. Coldest weve seen in a while. Mostly sunny. Maybe partly cloudy to the north. A little piece of the system has to come in. 39 fairfield. 36 napa. Coldest in a long time. Low 40s for some. San jose has made it to 47 right at 50. How about that . Half moon bay, sfo, San Francisco, oakland, there are cooler temperatures than that. And a lot of 30s into lake county. Mendocino county, Santa Cruz Mountains as well. Clear now but there is a system right there skirting the coast. Up on the north coast, that will give us a kick on the breeze later. 18 up in truckee. 45 sacramento. Very cold, unstable pattern with a lot of shower activity and snow in the Higher Elevations. I think thats a sign of things to come. Probably not until sunday. Sunday monday. Breezy, cool, windy at times. Its the cooler temps and near normal high temps. Not something weve said much of. All right, sal. We had the south bay. Thats gotten better. Is there something new or what . Its still slow, steve. The accident is gone which is better obviously. The lanes are open but northbound 101 is still slow as you drive up to the 880 interchange. You can see how slow it is. Along northbound 101 getting up to an older accident site near oakland road. It was there for almost an hour. Around the traffic really did suffer. Now, the traffic is beginning to move but let me show you something. I will show you the maps here. You can see 101 is slow. 85 is slow. If you can somehow avoid 101 perhaps use monterey or el camino or 85 instead, that would be a better thing for you. Right now, its so slow. 101 is looking good on the peninsula. Palo alto in mountain view. Westbound 580 is slow getting into livermore, it gets better in dublin. Southbound 680, concord to walnut creek. Thats back understand at 242 as you backed up at 242 as you head south. 7 0. Back to the desk. Im sorry. We forgot the bay bridge. How can we forget that . Thats backed up for a 25, 30 minute delay. Now i can say back to the desk. Investigators are looking into how another intruder got into a restricted area on the property of Mineta San Jose International airport. Janine de la vega is live at mineta where after vane is an investigation is underway. Reporter good morning. Well, congressman Eric Swalwell is concerned, hes on the Homeland Security subcommittee for transportation security. Hes been closely monitoring this airport because of the past four breaches. This makes number five in less than a year. This time it happened on the back side of the airport across from the stadium. A woman apparently scaled the fence. All morning long weve seen security patrols driving back and forth. They are on heightened alert. A woman managed to walk on the tarmac across the runway before she was spotted by a u. P. S. Employee on the other side. Officers found her near the southwest cargo area where u. P. S. Has its operations. Police say she was combative and refused to give her identity but they say she is young. Congressman swalwell is calling on increased security, specifically technology, saying this airport and others are not doing enough to secure perimeters. Companies have technology that will alert airport officials the moment the perimeter is preached. They can distinguish distinguish human a human an animal. A pilot program, i believe should be taken plate across the Country Place across the country. Reporter police was arrested. They are still trying to figure out why she wanted to get on the tarmac and if she wanted to cause harm. They are already in review mode because of the past four breaches. They will be looking at the surveillance video. Weve reached out to an airport spokeswoman. Were hoping to get comment from them later on this morning. Tori . The proposed changes for a Tour Bus Company aimed at reducing distracted drivers. First it was indiana. Now arkansas could face a firestorm over a religious freedom law. Brian flores just coming into the studio and looking at the latest Development Including how wul mart, based in ar walmart, based in arkansas. Good morning. The traffic i dont know how to say it, its not good. Its not good on the san mateo bridge. Its not good on the dumbarton bridge. Its not good on the bay bridge. I will tell you one reason we think this is happening. Skies are clear but the coldest lows we have seen in some time. It might be a sign of things to come here Going Forward. Well talk about that and also whats in store for the weekend. Welcome back. The state of african saw now just arkansas one signature away from creating a religious freedom law. Brian flores here in the studio with this lastminute push to get the governor, brian, to veto it. Yeah, several bay area companies, even local governments have expressed disapproval of this bill being considered in indiana and just passed in arkansas yesterday. It still has to be signed by the governor of arkansas. All indications point it will be signed. Known as the house bill 1228, it would prevent state and local governments on infringing on someones beliefs without a compelling interest. This goes back to bill clinton signing the religious freedom restoration act. Supporters of the blil say all it does bill say all it does is show support but opponents say it will open up flood gates to allow discrimination. The issue is not im not for having the government or any entity force me as a Business Owner to do any particular item. This bill will permit people to be treated like strangers. Walmart, which is based in arkansas, came out in opposition to the legislation. The companys ceo asked the governor to veto the bill saying it undermines the spirit of inclusion and does not preflecket the values we uphold in the state. Libby schaaf is the latest in a series of california politicians and Business Leaders to ban city paid travel to indiana because of the religious freedom restoration act passed there. Ed lee also panned City Employees from traveling to indiana on city business. Many prayer firms have come out against this. San franciscos board of supervisors is set to vote on a proposed ordinance next week that would ban tour bus drivers from also narrating their own tours. The ordinance would require companies to a have a separate narrater on the bus in addition to the driver. Its part of the citys vision zeer dro plan which aims to eliminate traffic related deaths within the next nine years. The goal is to cut back on distracted driving. Its important that tour Bus Companies that are profiting by showing off our beautiful city commit to hiring two staff members, one to narrate and one to drive. While some Companies Already have separate narraters others cant afford to and plan to fight the ordinance they say would put them out of business. People attending sales forces huge annual tech conference in San Francisco can now skip a hotel and rent a room on the high seas. Its called the dreamboat. The rooms look like some of these pictures here and costs between 250 and 850 a night with 135,000 registered attendees for dream force. Its often difficult to find a hotel in the city. It will be docked at pier 37. Its near the terminal and it will cut down on traffic and make things easier for people. Not a bad way to sail along. Exactly. Hey, sal, weve got problems. You you sound a little frustrated with whats happening on the bridges. Its a little bit of slow traffic across the bridges, dave, tori. Thats partially because of some wind but mostly because of slow traffic and one of the reasons that we are seeing, for example well talk about the san mateo bridge in a moment. But at the bay bridge, we had an earlier accident at the metering lights. A lot of Little Things have contributed to a backup. We were thinking this week would be lighter because of spring break and maybe thats next week. San mateo bridge is also very slow. It was a little windy on that span as someone reported to me. Someone just sent me a tweet saying its pretty windy. That could be the reason traffic is slowing. I happen to think there are a lot of people heading to 101. 508 is better than it normally is. You can see slow traffic. 680 better than it normally is out of dublin to fremont. 101 continues to be slow after an earlier crash. 280 and 85 are Better Options for you. Todays weather with steve. [ applause ] gary says why are you wearing that tie . 12 100ths in San Francisco for march. 4 of normal. Thats it. 4 . Thats it. Good news . Yes. It looks like april will be wet. Colder lows, breezy today but not as bad as yesterday. It sure looks like its coming together. A colder system on monday and tuesday. 30s, fairfield is in there. Napa is in there. Upper 30s and 40s. There were a lot of 30s up in lake county. I know 31 at cobb and 37 in middletown. 36 up at la honda as well on the peninsula and 39 boulder creek, Santa Cruz Mountains the a lot of the cloud cover taking aim. 18 up in truckee. 39 up in arcata. Cool air mass in place. This could this is a cold unsettled pattern. I do think thats the leading edge of whats on its way for us. Want to show you the system, this is the ex this is the extended outlook. Sunday, swing in the rain and then swinging in out of the gulf of alaska monday and tuesday. Thats not something weve seen. Thats like the old days. Not as bad. 60s, mid60s. This is 62 to 68 or 69. Thats where we should be on the temps. A couple of very low 70s but a lot of low 60s in areas that were in the 80s a couple of days ago. 60s on the coast, on the peninsula and i think you better get used to these. It will be darned cold next week. Easter. Okay. Going with it. Its a good thing. That would be great for the season and, weve had so much dry, warm weather. Better late than never.
