One person has died, another is in Critical Condition after officers say someone ran over nine people leaving a nightclub restaurant. It happened just before two this morning along port chicago highway. Just outside of the restaurant. Investigators say about 50 people were in the parking lot when it happened. When we arrived on scene we had nine to ten victims. Hit by a reckless driver in the parking lot. We have had some witnesses who said that it was on purpose. Fortes say that the driver is in custody. We are also following developing story in oakland where a demonstration in support of baltimore turned violent. Close to 400 people took part in the rally. Some stood face to face with police there in riot gear a group of protesters splintered off and shattered windows. At dealerships along otto row. Many are cleaning up the damage and some wondering whether this destruction could have been stopped. Police brought in extra officers. There are Peaceful Demonstrations but then the violent outbursts happened. Christine is live with a look at that damage. Reporter good morning. Daylight is revealing more of the damage. We are on otto row near broadway and 30th. If you take a look the wind shields were smashed out but a couple of tires were slashed as well. We want to mention that a large majority of protesters last night remained peaceful. It was only a minority of that group that caused damage and if you were aggressive with one of our photographers last night. No cameras. Reporter that is video of one of our photographers getting pushed and shoved by members in the protest. He wasnt hurt and is doing okay but the protesters started marching in the early afternoon and continued well into the night. They met a skirmish line and then headed to telegraph eventually going to broadway and piedmont. After that thats where things went downhill a few people started breaking windows and our crew followed the destruction as they broke out windows to about 20 to 30 new cars on the row and they broke windows to the dealerships too. We know at least one car was also set on fire. This is where police started making acts this he say in addition to the Car Dealerships there were businesses and banks hit likely because they were going offer corporations but this is not how the majority of Peaceful Protesters conducted themselves. They said they marched for different causes including immigration reform. Higher wages and against police brutality. Police followed them but reported no problems. In san jose about 150 people took part in a peaceful rally. The crowd gathered at our lady of Guadalupe Church and walked three miles to San Jose City hall. Many people brought their children to the rally. Demonstrators say they used the occasion to call for an end to deportation that result in families having to separate. More than 50 people were arrested last night in baltimore during a protest over the death of freddy gray. Sir meshes broke out between demonstrators and Baltimore Police. Yesterday six officers were charged with a range of crimes for grays death. Gray had a fatal spinal injury on april 12th while in police custody. Last night protesters facing charges that include assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and violating the citys curfew. Organizers of a march today say that its now being called a victory rally. As mayor i have said from the beginning that nobody is above the law in our city. I was sick sickened and heartbroken by the statement of charges. The six face various charges, one is accused of Second Degree murder. Prosecutors say the officers illegally arrested gray and failed to properly secure him in a van where he apparently had a critical spinal injury that killed him. The six are out an bail a hearing is set for may 27th 27th. The president is weighing in on the arrest of the six officers in that case. Its my practice not to comment on the legal processes involved. That would not be appropriate. I can tell you that Justice Needs to be served. The president said that the officers are entitled to due process and that his administration will help make sure the truth comes out. He said he is waiting for recommendations a task force they appointed to improve policing and Police Community relations. New this morning Pittsburgh Police say a homeowner shot and killed two people suspected of breaking into his home. It happened just after nine last night on jewitt avenue. This is the second time this week that someone has tried to rob that home. Four people were arrested during the first attempt. Police say they dont know if the two incidents are related. Its been one week since the massive quake in nepal. Government Officials Say they need more help from the international community. To save water many of them are reducing showers or shutting down features, one splash park is delaying its opening two weeks until memorial day weekend and will decutting operating hours in hopes of cutting water use by 25 .
