The proposed interim zoning control would give the city time to adopt permanent measures. In a close vote that took a week to count, denver, colorado, has pass the first ofitskind measure to allow people to use marijuana in more public places. Now, that initiative won with more than 53 support. It creates a fouryear Pilot Program allowing businesses to create consumption areas. Businesses range from restaurants to cafes and even art gallery and yoga studios. The new law takes effect immediately. Our time is 4 33 the city of oakland is planning to start its own bank that reportedly would benefit oaklands growing cannabis industry as well as underserved residents. Banks are backed by the federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and can be difficult for cannabis businesses to deposit money from a business technically in violation of federal law. Now, oakland councilwoman kaplan wants to see if the city can create a public bank. Creating a public bank could benefit lots of local businesses but its also a great match for the needs of tour growing canna by industry to have access to safe banking. Its a documentary made by firefighters about the 1975 fire at the apartment in the mission. Hundreds attended a private screening for the film.
