There will be others im sure. But the lows are cold. But yesterday was about 1 to 2 degrees colder. There seems to be a little more moisture in the air which could lead to fog. A lot of 30s. Black hawk in the east bay, danville, alamo, and lafayette, there are fox Sports Southwest advisories out for the north bay. But im sure there will be many areas with rooftop frost from north to south. We had plenty of those yesterday. The system to the north is falling apart. Theres enough of a breeze as well along with the moisture. Its not much. But thats enough to keep temps up a tiny bit. Thats producing a lot. The fog will be on the move here pretty soon. Our system for saturday, taking shape up in the pacific northwest. The gulf of alaska. It looks good for late saturday into sunday. A little breeze in the hills but 60s. A few upper 60s possible today. How are you . Im okay. People who use vas co road, its a bear of a commute. You know it, steve. So right now the traffic lights arent working at the corner of Camino Diablo and vas co. It might mean a slower commute. If you take that road, give yourself extra time or go another way. Because the traffic lights arent working properly. Lets look at pictures here. The traffic is okay as you drive into the toll plaza area. No major problems. If youre driving on interstate 880. That traffic is looking good. And across the bay, the bay shore freeway looks good between South San Francisco and the city. Everythings off to a good start there. 580 through the Livermore Valley is okay. We mentioned the problem on Camino Diablo at vas co road. The Traffic Signals arent working and it could make for a tougher commute. 5 03. Back to the desk. San Francisco Police want to know why a gunman aimed and fired at a crowded hospital. The gunman went to a construction site next to Saint Lukes Hospital yesterday afternoon and climbed on top of a freight elevator. Now, this is a new photo we now have of the suspect. As you look closely, you can see him dressed in the white over alls there. He had two weapons. Including a rifle he had stolen from a big 5 Sporting Good store in san bruno earlier in the day. When San Francisco Police Arrived at the scene, they heard every several shots causing bystanders to run for their lives. All i heard was gunshots and we started running. What did you see . We were looking at a sniper on the top. When the explosions when off there was like a flash. Police say the gunman first aimed the rifle at the hospital but then pointed the rifle at them. Thats when three officers opened fire and killed the man. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive. And if he had any ties to the hospital. Police have not released his name. No one else was hurt. But reporter allie will have a live report coming up. A man is in the hospital this morning after leading police on a chase in the east bay and ramming his car into nine other cars. This happened yesterday morning in richmond. Investigators say 28yearold Saul Espinosa sped away from a Police Traffic stop and crash into a row of cars at 29th street and humphrey avenue. San pablo police say they tried to pull over espinosa for a simple Traffic Violation when he took off. They say he was probably doing 80 Miles Per Hour or more on 29th when he first hit a bmw. The driver of that car was not seriously hurt but later police say espinosa smashed into eight more cars causing major damage to many of them. Rudy was nearby when that crash happened. He went over to the car and talked to that driver. I asked him. Everythings going to be okay. The cops are coming. As soon as i mentioned the cops he started just freaking out. You know, he was like oh no. The cops. And he tried to get out. But i kept telling him, dont move. Rescue crews had to use the jaws of life to get espinosa out of the wreckage. Police found a loaded gun and two ounces of meth in his car. And they say he was out on parole for fleeing from police back in 2012 while in possession of a gun and drugs. Easing the housing crunch in Silicon Valley is a huge concern for many people in the area. Ktvus janine joins us from Mountain View where more housing could be on the way. Reporter thats right pam. A lot of housing is going up in Mountain View and sunnyvale near Companies Like google. Right now rents are so sky high. Its the type of rent that only tech workers can afford. Mountain view city coupe sill decided 12 store buildings and thousands of homes in the North Bay Shore area. Right now that area is business parks and fields. Theres been explosive growth at nearby companies such as intuit and linked in. The demand for housing brought prices up. Google owns 55 of the land proposed for rezoning. But theres concern for those on a fixed income not making tech salaries. Theyll hold a rally. Theyre concerned theres not enough Affordable Housing in Santa Clara County. They say rents are increasing so fast people are getting forced from their homes. Theyre going to protest outside a meeting at the county meeting held by a state senator specifically about the lack of Affordable Housing and how theres been deep cuts in funding that meeting starts at 8 30. All this follows the contentious fite in San Francisco over proposition f which would have put additional restrictions on air b and b rentals in the city. Voters rejected prop f but supporters said theyd continue the fight to limit shortterm rentals in the city. Today students at uc berkeley will join the nationwide million student march. Organizers are demanding tuitionfree public college. The canceling of all student debt. And a 15dollar minimum wage for all campus employees. But a judge ordered the state to remove that child in a week. The couple are legally married, they passed background checks as well as home inspections. Theyre accusing the judge of imposing his own religious beliefs. He said through his research he had found out that kids in homosexual homes dont do as well as they do in heterosexual homes. And when they asked to show his research, he would not. The couple says they have the support of the childs biological mother. Utahs division of child and famil Services Says they have to comply with the judges order but if the decision is later over turned, the agencys worried it removed a child from the only parents shes ever known. If thats your commute, give yourself plenty of time. 580, we have slow traffic coming in on the Altamont Pass. But livermore and dublin looks okay. Taking a look at live pictures. We may find out more today about who the gunman was who pointed a rifle at Saint Lukes Hospital in San Francisco. Police say he fired at least one round before Police Officers shot and killed him. Ktvus allie rasmus is joining us live at saint lukes now. An investigation into everything is under way as we speak, allie. Thats right, dave. This happened just after 4 00 in the afternoon yesterday when police say a man climbed the top of a freight elevator at this construction site behind us. It sits next to Saint Lukes Hospital on caesar chavez. This man is in his late 20s wearing white cover alls. Police havent released his identity to us yet and they havent said anything about whether they know what the mans motive was. Its unknown if he had a connection to Saint Lukes Hospital or the people inside. But police say once the man got to the top of the elevator he fired one or more shots with a rifle toward Saint Lukes Hospital. Police say the firearm he used had been stolen earlier that day from a Sporting Good store in san bruno. Police say they tried to approach the gunman when they arrived at the hospital. According to police, he aimed the gun at them. Three officers responded by opening fire. Three officers fired, neutralizing the suspect. The suspect is deceased. We saw someone collapse on top of the building. Then there were police going up the stairs of the building. Now again police have not released the mans identity yet. They dont know, or they havent told us what might have been the motive for the mans actions in this strange incident. However, no one else during this ordeal was hurt. Back to you, dave. The chp believes two east bay freeway shootings in a week maybe connected the latest shooting was late tuesday night on interstate 80. Someone pulled up alongside a man and a woman and opened fire. The man died. The woman survived. The first shooting happened eight days earlier on interstate 80 in san pablo. The bad victim was hit but survived. I drive 80 whenever i need to go somewhere. And to think that whether im targeted or not that somebody while driving would just come up on me and shoot me. Now the chp is not giving out any descriptions of the get away cars or suspects. But investigators believe the shootings are gang related. The chp says they will increase patrols along interstate 80. In the city of redding, someone stole all of the one Shasta County sheriff deputys weapons. Someone broke into the deputys personal car. The thieves stole a 35 caliber semiautomatic handgun and a rifle thats specially made for law enforcement. The thief also took the deputys belt which included handcuffs, pepper spray, a baton, and a hand held radio. Investigators are now looking into whether the gear was properly stored and secured. A former inmate at the Santa Clara County jail is showing us the injuries he says he suffered at the hands of correctional deputies. 50yearold Reuben Garcia is now suing the county. In his complaint he says two deputies severely beat him last july. Garcia says he suffered permanent nerve damage to the right side of his face. He was being held for a misdemeanor drug offense and complained about having to wait hours to be processed. Garcia says it was the death of fellow inmate Michael Tyree in august that convinced him to come forward. I could hear the blows. I could hear michael screaming, please stop hurting me. Please, stop hit. Please stop hurting me, please. He waited to file the lawsuit because he feared retaliation. Three deputies face murder charges for his death. The guards are not the same ones that garcia says beat him. Time is 5 37 the man accused of killing a Popular Ice Cream vendor in oakland is expected to be formerly charged today. 23yearold jovan lopez was arrested tuesday and is being held at santa rita jail. Lopez shot and killed 45year old jazvir sing on october 3rd in a neighborhood near 94th avenue and peach street in east oakland. No word of a motive. A bay area Congress Woman is taking a stand against noise caused by new flight paths in and out of San Francisco international airport. The program called next gen is designed to standardize arrival and departure routes used biplanes but the recent change in flight patterns increased noise levels as far away as santa cruz. Now the Congress Woman has written two bills requiring the faa and epa to look at noise levels when making changes. This next gen program has not only created problems in our region but in other states and other regions in the country. So were not the only ones. The faa has heard the complaints. Shes been told that the agency is working on a plan to address the problem. But theres no word yet on when that may happen. Time is 5 38 in an effort to level the Playing Field between Cab Companies and ride sharers, the city is planning to ease regulations for taxis. They eliminated a fingerprint requirement for uber and lyft drivers. The city council will consider ideas on how to de regulate taxis next week. That includes using a simpler vehicle inspection process for taxis. And also issuing temporary permits for drivers while they go through a background check. Steve says this is the storm that started here. Its now moving across the country. The Nebraska State Patrol reports more than a dozen crashes involving cars sliding off icy or slushy roads. Colorado was hit with several inches of snow making conditions treacherous on the roads. And the massive system dumped more than a foot of snow in parts of the rockies. The warmer side of the weather system actually brought thunderstorms to parts of the midwest. Southbound 101 traffic looks good heading down the penninsula and on the penninsula the bay shore freeway looks good between san mateo and the airport. Both directions of the bay shore looking good at this time. And 580, that traffic looks okay. I want to remind you the signal lights are out at vas co road and Camino Diablo. And traffic is a mess in this area. Its not doing well because of this signal light problem. Give yourself extra time if you use vas co road. I know a lot of people do. A truck driver was taken to the hospital after his truck plowed into a home on marvin avenue. Santa clara county fire Officials Say the driver somehow lost control. We dont know his condition this morning. No one in the home was hurt. Police in South San Francisco searching for more witnesses to a stabbing that led to the arrest of three boys. The mercury news reports two teenagers and a 12yearold were arrested last friday for the stabbing. Police tell the paper a 14year old boy was confronted by a group who yelled gang related terms and then stabbed him in the back. The boy is expected to survive. Police hope to track down others involved. A nurse with the va hospital is under arrest after police say he tried to break into his neighbors homes in san jose while dressed in full military gear. Police say 36yearold Shannon Nathan wong climbed on the roof of his townhouse complex on bautista place yesterday. They say he was carrying an Assault Rifle and knocked on several neighbors windows and demanded to be let inside. Someone called 911. Police say when they arrived, wong pointed his rifle at them. Officers shot at him but wong was not hit. I laid down on the floor in the living room. I didnt want to get hit by a stray bullet. I heard the shot that hit right here. Time is 5 55, police in seattle looking for whoever crashed a drone into a popular attraction. Police say the drone hit the great wheel there. Then crashed into the upper deck of the fishermans restaurant on pier 57 hitting one of the tables last night. It narrowly missed hitting people. Employees say they didnt find any damage to the wheel. But they stopped operating it to check it out. Seattle police are now examining that drone trying to figure out who owns it. This is a nofly zone. So for them whoever was responsible, not sure exactly what will happen, but everything is fine. Operations are continuing as normal.
