He has been abruptly replaced by assistant chief paul figueroa. The mayor said she received information that caused her to lose confidence in figueroa fairow. She said state privacy laws prohibit her from elaborating. As mayor i need to have absolute confidence that the leader of this department can be 100 effective. At leading cultural change based on the current allegations that we take extremely seriously. Mayor schaaf blames a rapid vetting process for not checking fairow background more thoroughly. Several Council Members called the recent shakeups in the Police Department regrettable. They called them a clear sign of failed leadership within city government.
