The lawsuit claims he had a dangerously fast heart rate and he was sweating profusely but instead of calling for medical help the officers took him to a holding cell at hayward police. His family says he suffers from schizophrenia and drug abuse. Because of his Mental Health history hospital rejected him and he was redirected to santa rita jail. At one point police put him in a full body restraint and he became unresponsive in the patrol car on the way to santa rita jail. Police officers believe that he was under the influence of narcotics and combine that with heart rate of 160, he was at severe risk for a heart attack which is what he suffered and he died. The lawsuit says Police Officers may have attached jimersons restates restraints incorrectly making it harder for him to breathe. They have made no comment. San Francisco Police increasing patrols in the Mission District after recent shootings there. The latest happened yesterday when three people were injured in separate shootings in that neighborhood.
