As you drive through tracy over the Altamont Pass into the bay area, it is pretty crowded. It does continue to look pretty good as you walk through drives to the area here. Northbound to 80 traffic is moving well getting into highway 17. At 5 01 lets go to steve. Take a break south. Sal we have a pretty big fog bank. Some inland towns are going to clear out but not the coast where the bay. If you are heading out for the giants and cardinals tonight, i would on a cool friday night. It does look warmer over the weekend. Keep that in mind. Catheters will start to warm up , even along most of the coast. There we go. Temperatures are going to start to warm up. Ktvus janine de la vega has an update for us. The good news is the fire is out there are a lot of people out of their homes. Reporter yes, there are, about eight people right now. Firefighters are up here on this threestory condo unit and we do note we do know that they are here to make sure that the fire doesnt spark back up. There are a couple of fire investigators here as well. They are waiting until daylight so they can see better to try to determine the cause. This fire created a lot of damage and also left one dog dead this happened on ticonderoga drive near highway 182. Neighbors smelled smoke and called 911. The flames were already on the roof of this restore a condo complex when fire the Fire Department arrived. The people in this unit were not home at the time but the dog was and it died in this fire. No firefighters were injured fighting this four alarm fire. It was a challenge to extinguish. Here is why. We were able to extinguish the main condominium fire but the fire was burning in the main attic space which is mode made up of two layers of foam insulation and plywood work plywood. Reporter as i mentioned, eight people were displaced. One unit was completely destroyed and the others have heavy smoke and water damage. The red cross is helping them out. We are told also that the person who was in the unit where the fire originally started was the dog owner and that person was arrested. They were cited and then released. That was reportedly because they tried to go back into the fire to rescue their dog. That is what we are hearing. [ sound of gunfire ] cell phone video captured this very chaotic and violent scene in midtown manhattan. The suspect was curious after finding his car locked with a parking boot on the wheel. The shooting came after the suspect attacked the offDuty Police Officer with an 11 each meat cleaver 11 inch meat cleaver. Officers fired 18 shots and critically wounded that suspect. We are also watching some of the longer commutes, northbound 101, traffic on the gilroy super commuter. That is going to be okay between gilroy and san jose. It continues to look good all the way up through morgan hill and into the san jose area and right now it is also lightly traveled on the south bay freeway getting up to the west valley. San mateo bridge, not a bad commute, traffic looks good. Thats heading from hayward all the way to the foster city side of the bridge. When you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, we dont have a big back up. Usually about 5 30 is when they turn those metering lights on. We will see what happens then. There were indications we would go into a la nina. It now looks like it will be weak to neutral. Neutral isnt bad for us. That isnt bad. Remember the projection last year. A freak accident killed a driver in san jose but investigators say this is what happened moments before the man was hit by his own truck. Welcome back to mornings at 2. The chp is investigating a freak accident in san jose where a driver was run over and killed by his own truck this happened just after 9 00 yesterday morning. This was near hixson and alamedas roads. The truck suddenly merged left to pass another truck and then his truck partially went up a hillside in tilted upwards. The driver either jumped or fell out of the truck and was run over by the truck. The truck then kept going down the road without the driver. It drove about 100 feet down an embankment. Investigators want to know if a medical emergency or some kind of mechanical problem cause that crash. Fiat chrysler has issued a worldwide recall of almost 2,000,000 vehicles. The problem with airbags and seatbelts has been linked to at least three debts. This includes chrysler 200 models. The Dodge Avenger and Dodge Caliber and jeep patriot and the compass suvs are included in this recall. The model years range from 2010 to 2014.
