And also westbound, the cars are apparently out of the way, but a little bit of slowing. Looking at this low traffic heading out of the pittsburg westbound on highway 4 this morning. Your time now is 6 02 am. San francisco fire crews looking for the calls of the fire over the empty building, and an earlier fire burned their last year. We are joined live from San Francisco talking about what made this fires of difficult for the fire crews. Reporter there had already been a fire more than a year ago presented some challenges to the firefighters that came back here to fight this fire. Lets look at this building, right at the corner of 22nd, you can tell this had been a vacant building, all of the windows completely boarded up. The fire crew is out front, and the fire began at 11 30 pm last night, and it took about an hour and a half to get it under control. They are making sure that no hot spots flare up. People smell smoke last night and came out to take pictures and videos to post on social media. They did keep the fire from spreading to the nearby building, but some people were evacuated as a precaution, and the building is vacant, so no one inside was injured. It was vacant because in january 2015 a deadly and distracted fire occurred in the same building, killing one resident and injuring seven others. The building had been in disrepair since then, making it hard for the firefighters. With a hard time getting into the building because the doors and windows are boarded up from the previous fire. We had to cut our way in, the stairwell was filled with debris so we could not make it to the interior stairwell and so we had to go in through the fire escape. Reporter last month the building inspector told the owner of the building to tear it down due to safety concerns. But some of the tenants one of the city to take over the building to convert it into affordable housing. The firefighters will remain on scene throughout the morning and determining how the fire may have started. Again, the building was vacant, so they are trying to find out the source of the heat. Everybody is anxious to hear about that. A deadly crash near discovery bay, a car ended up in a creek on highway 4. Two cars crashed headon, forcing one car into the creek. Three adults and three children were in the vehicle, and Good Samaritans jumped into the water and rescued the three children. All of the children are fine, and one of the adults appear to have suffered minor injuries, but a male and female did not survive. They were in the car that remained on highway 4, one man remained in light and was taken to the hospital. One of the cars was going in the wrong direction at the time of the accident. The time now is 6 05 am. A store clerk bought fought with a man that threatened to shoot him. These are pictures from that surveillance camera. The suspect tried to steal a bottle about call and then pulled a gun on the clerk. The clerk started fighting the suspect, and the man hit the clerk several times on the head with a bottle in the customer came in and called 911. The suspect ran away, described as latino, in his 20s about 54, dark hair and a mustache. You can see the surveillance pictures, and the store clerk was treated for minor injuries. 175 campers were evacuated, the thousand trails campground near morgan hills was cleared out, and sits just south of the yubas reservoir. The campers ares spending the night at a church shelter, and could be allowed back in the campground if the water receives. Recedes. The water flooded the only bridge in the campground, and inspectors will be out to see if theres any damage. This latest storm dropped a lot of snow, several feet hauling of the weekend in the sierra. The skiers and snowboarders are flocking to the area to enjoy the snow. Here is video of the kirkwood result, the latest storm bringing 400 inches in some areas, and that is still under the average year before the drought. Chains are required on interstate 80 and highway 50 getting to and from the sierra over the weekend, a major challenge for drivers, a winter storm warning in effect until 11 am this morning. The wind gusts could reach 50 miles an hour or more, making driving even more dangerous. Flooding in louisiana and mississippi damaging thousands of homes, and at least four dead in louisiana since the flooding began, and the National Guard has read the more than 3300 people. Two fishermen have been missing for days in mississippi. Flood warnings remain in effect today with the rivers dangerously high. President obama declared the flooding in louisiana major disaster. Still following the breaking news on that amtrak derailment near kansas city, dodge city, kansas, 29 treated for injuries, and nine considered lifethreatening. Five of the train cars ended up on the side. Two more are off of the tracks in the cause of the derailment is under investigation. Turkey is saying the military carried out airstrikes against the rebel targets in northern a rough iraq, at least 37 dead and 120 others injured. This is the second time in one month that turkey has blamed the kurdish rebels for the attacks in ankara. And we are in pacifica this morning for a look at the challenges they are facing to get these buildings torn down. Reporter we are talking about the rainstorm that has moved through. Behind me is what is left of 320 esplanade, and the crews continued to work or the weekend. Through the weekend. They should be making more progress, and the crews continuing to work, demolishing here in pacifica, and the work is expected to be completed by wednesday, depending on the weather. The building was declared unsafe in 2010 due to the crumbling cliffside, and a hazard for those that walk on the beach below, along with a environmental hazards to the ocean. This complex which was completed in the 50s had asbestos, and the owner of the property declared bankruptcy. He will have to foot the bill for the demolition, and for the el nino season, they will work to keep the cliff from eroding even further. The building across the street, these people will have an unobstructed view of the ocean once this building 320 esplanade is moved out of the way. This other building is yellow tagged, and it remains unclear if and when the building will be demolished. There is a high surf warning for the area, and crews will have to work relatively quickly to remove what is left of the building behind me. Back to you. This is the san mateo bridge, traffic is building, and you can see it is slowing down just a bit heading west as you head through the toll plaza, but no major slowdown as of right now. And looking on the east shore freeway, slow traffic as you head through vertically over toward the maccarthur maze this morning. Metering lights are on at the bay bridge, back to well through the maze this morning. Looking at one issue we are tracking on 101 southbound, just south of the Robin Williams tunnel. They have cleared it, but still causing residual delay this morning. If youre coming out of the ring county toward the golden gate bridge, keep that in mind. Just south of the Robin Williams tunnel, and an earlier crash could cause problems. The earlier crash was westbound by the 80 at the hacienda and dublin area. Things are winding down, moving to the north and south, but our miracle march kicked in, kirkwood has seen several inches of snow, and san jose has received 3. 61 inches, and pretty good for 24hour rainfall. Some areas have seen almost an inch and a half of rain in the last 24 hours, and morganville has received over an inch, and all good news. And the heaviest rain was last weekend, through the north bay. And backed up through the maze as you try to get through the pay gates this morning. Looking at the south bay, traffic is slowing and getting busier along 280. Going to the maps, a crash in the south bay, and this is u. S. 101, highway 101 northbound at the mickey road, mckee road, and keep that in mind if its part of your commute. Northbound out of the antioch area, traffic is building just behind this crash. You may need to take some extra time as you head out the door if that is your commute. Westbound highway 4, willow pass road a crash right there. Back to you. Rainy weather crossing a growing sinkhole in moraga, and we are in moraga at marine boulevard and Center Street with hundreds with no service. Reporter that is correct. In about 30 minutes, pg e will bring in about 200 representatives, going door to door to talk to the residents to give them information, and to help them out. The crews are working on repairs to the ruptured line, working overnight to repair the gas line that broke yesterday afternoon and it all started when the sinkhole opened during the storm, and the nearby traffic pole theyll 7 feet into the hole, hitting the pipe. The people in the nearby Shopping Center were evacuated, and that 1 am this morning, pg e turned off the gas to 2500 customers so that they could make the repairs. We decided to do this because safety is the top priority. Given the scope of the sinkhole, and still growing, we had to shut off the service as soon as possible to make sure that the area is safe. Reporter the sinkhole is over 10 feet wide and 15 feet deep. Pg e is bringing and Gas Service Representatives that will go through the neighborhood and distribute information, going to each home so that they can turn the gas back on when it is time to do that. No timeline yet on when they will have service. This will affect some businesses, and several residences, and probably will not be able to open until the gas is restored. We will continue to monitor this and give you developing news when everything is fixed. Thank you, in moraga. Also in moraga, a landslide forcing two families out of their homes, and one family owner saw erosion a few months ago, but it did not affect the home until last week. The railing started sliding, and the rain made the problem even worse. The Lower Foundation of my house is now about 5 to 15 feet below the frame of the house. The upper two thirds that is still in place for now, its holding that up and hanging where the earth has dropped substantially. And the people that live in the area say that the Utility Company knew about the problem, but only sent out engineers yesterday, but east they says there is nothing they could have done to prevent the landslide, and many areas in the east bay are susceptible to this kind of sliding during heavy rains. A womans home was severely damaged, and she has lived in the Oakland Hills for 55 years now leaving her with that eucalyptus tree laying through her kitchen. She says that she and her family were worried about the trees on the vacant lot across the street, but the neighbor never did anything about them. All these years, all
