Plans on announcing new legislation. Earlier this month, 20yearold brock turner was sentenced to six months when jail when prosecutors asked for six years. The District Attorney was disappointed and recently had the judge removed from another Sexual Assault case in light of all the public outcry over the turner sentence. Turner was convicted of Sexual Assault, not rape, and theres already a push by state lawmakers to make changes to the states definition of rape because of this case. Also a bill in the state senate allowing rape and Sexual Assault cases to be prosecuted no matter how long ago they occured. Currently the limit is 10 years. Emotional testimony was heard in sacramento who testified in support of it. I look at rapists in the sam magnitude that i look at war criminals and slavers, because rapists wage war upon the landscapes of womens bodies. Reporter that proposed change comes in the wake of allegations against bill cosby. What happened to this victim in the brock turner case touched a lot of nerves and has set off a fire storm. San Francisco Police Commission Set to vote today a new use of force rules. Its in response to Community Groups calling for reform after deadly shootings by police. The new rules focus on requiring officers to de escalate situations and make lethal force a last resort. Todays vote does not address the issue of whether to equip officers with tasers. That will come in a separate vote. A San Francisco man was arrested, accused of driving a party bus filled with teenagers, alcohol and reportedly drugs and prescription drugs. The party bus was pulled over monday evening by marin county authorities who got a tip about the bus picking up teenage passengers in larkspur. Police say officers spotted the bus pulling out of the lot with the door open and it was swinging. The officers stopped the bus and say 33 boys and girls between the ages of 15 and 17 were on board. Police say they found 30 bottles of hard alcohol, marijuana and prescription pills. Investigators say a 16yearold boy booked that bus online and that his friends are saying he meant no harm. People snuck it in their bags and pockets and, like, thats also what can be bad, too, he got in trouble for everyone who just didnt even ask really. The bus driver is identified as 63yearold james green. Police say he was arrested on charges that include child endangerment, possess of controlled substances and carrying a switch blade. Oakland councilwoman is under fire for reportedly using her power to interfere with a Housing Project planned for a lot next to her home. According to a civil grand jury report, she broke state and city ethics rules by delaying the approval process for a five unit town house development. The report does not name the councilwoman, but the San Francisco chronicle says a source says its Lynette Gibson mcel hanie. Family members, friends, members of the community remembered and honored Michael Katherman as a dedicated Police Officer and loving family man. He died last week after his motorcycle collided with a minivan. The sense of loss was evident at the service. Reporter the procession to bring Michael Kathermans body lasted a full 10 minutes. Autumn street lined with officers from departments from around the state, standing and saluting. At the intersection a large American Flag hosted by the san jose fire department. Mikes life is also something to celebrate. He was an exceptional Police Officer, and he was a better man. He was a shining example of what it looks like to be a man of character. Reporter inside the venue, speakers took to the stage telling stories of a man with a zeal for life and service who decided to join the force. A College Roommate says Michael Kathermans pursuit of policing started with a campus prank. We decided instead of filing a complaint we would decide to tp the entire campus. Childish, junior high boyish, probably. But this is where our bond of friendship formed. Reporter its also where the pull of love led to his wife, april. Two sons josh and jason followed. Katherman had grown from college median to police recruit, to family man, mentor. To my wife, thank you for your support and care and love. My parents, thank you very much. My brother, roger, love you guys. Reporter he was killed last week while on patrol. Was riding on north 10th street when the driver of a minivan turned in front of him. This is the second San Jose Police officer to lose his life while on duty in the past two years. The extended community is in mourning. Just reemphasizes the dangers of our jobs and the importance of the brotherhood and sisterhood we have. They put their life on the line for us. The at least people can do is show support.  i regret not knowing him in person and have to do it through second hand stories. Reporter helicopters performed a flyover. As sad as the day was, many of the officers and onlookers say it was inspirational to hear stories of a man who truly embodied the badge. Officer kathermans two sons wrote letters to their dead. Wildfires continue to burn in Southern California and across the west. Hundreds of people have been evacuated, but for the most part homes have remained safe. Fire crews on the ground and in the air have managed to stop nearly all the fires before they came into the neighborhoods. The fires northeast of los angeles and the one outside san diego are all just about 10 contained. The fire near Santa Barbara more than 80 contained. Many of the people who had been evacuated will be allowed to return home before tonight. 6 25. Civil grand jury has a list of recommendations for cracking down on the out of control breakins in San Francisco. One idea, more Police Officers on foot patrols. The supervisor is teaming up with the mayor. They introduced a measure to help. It will require once we hit our mandated officers, which will be by the middle of next year, that 3 of officers have to be in this neighborhood unit. If the measure passes, the neighborhood crime unit would have at least 60 Police Officers. Police in the east bay city of newark are looking for a thief or thieves who disappointed more than 100 cub scouts. Someone broke into a trailer park at Birch Grove Park where the scouts are holding a camp. Broken locks were discovered on the trailer, and at first they thought everyone was fine, but then noticed leather working tools and archery equipment were stolen. The young scouts started to show up for camp and their parents are baffled by this crime. Kind of like weird, why would just someone steal, like, a bow and arrow . I dont understand why you steal this kind of things. What you use that for . Those things can bring happiness to the kids. The program serves 10,000 children a year. The camps director hopes whoever took the equipment will find out how disappointed the kids are and maybe return them. It would cost more than 3,000 and a lot of time to replace the specialized archery equipment. This is expectsed to be a landmark day in las vegas.
