About a list of Evacuation Centers that have been set up for this fire. The Jewish Community center on ohka wrote in los gatos, the Morgan Hill Presbyterian Church in morgan hill and Socal High School on old san jose road. In the city of socal in the Santa Cruz County area. We have listed the Evacuation Centers and the areas impacted by this fire on our website. Head over to ktvu. Com for continuing coverage. We will check in with janine in a minute. Spirit firefighters are battling the sawmill fire burning east of cloverdale in sonoma county. Sky fox flew over the fire yesterday afternoon but didnt see smoke. The fire started near the geysers and burned 5000 acres near the geysers. It is now 45 contained. Last night, all the mandatory evacuation orders were listed were lifted but the cause of the fire is under investigation. I would certainly like to know what the weather and how it will effect the fire say. It will be hot today but much cooler starting tomorrow and maybe rain by sunday or monday. There could be some relief down the road but a very hot night in the santa cruz area tonight. Of steve this observation is taking taking their loma prieta is taken near 3700 feet. Maybe tomorrow the fog will make an impact. There will be a westerly breeze, but very high rugged terrain and there is extremely warm air there. The there is too much in version 4 it to make a big impact excuse me . I miss that. I will keep going. Fog is there but it is around point raised and not on the san Mateo Santa Cruz it. Bonnie doing is 79. Again, this warm air loss will take another day to budge that. The fog will make a dramatic cooling pattern for the coast and temperatures in land will be warm. We dont have an onshore breeze yet. 50s, 60s and 70s on the temp. San mateo coast will be cooler later on and then for everybody by tomorrow. In land, it will be 90s. We will see a plunge in the temps tomorrow. Thank you, steve. We want to go back out to janine , who is getting the latest on the santa cruz fire this morning. Janine . Reporter we are here at casa loma and mckeen wrote and behind the, you can see a chp officer with barricades up. This road is one of the several roads in morgan hill closed because of the fire. This is blocked off because they dont want anyone coming up this road. There are lots of fire engines coming up here and there trying to evacuate anyone who lives on casa loma. Lets see some video from earlier when we were up in the mountains searching for people who were being evacuated. We went up a little leave this road and one man showed us all the ash that has fallen on his fire on his truck. We ran into several people who had packed up their cars with clothes and ready to leave. Deputies are coordinating getting the livestock out of the area. There are horses and goats and a lot of household pets. We spoke with one mountain resident about his plans to evacuate. Heres what he had to see. Everybody has been up all night trying to get everything they can to leave. Some people have left already. Reporter what are your plans . My plan is to stay here until my home is to make sure my home is secure. I have had at least 50 cars back your since to get dark. Reporter there are 300 homes that are in the fires path. There are for sure evacuation orders on casa loma road, and loma prieta road. This fire is burning close to those areas and it is also burning dangerously close to tv and radio transmission towers. There are Evacuation Centers set up at Socal High School, the Jewish Committee center in los gallus and the los gatos. All the people we are running into who have been driving down the mountain say they are going to be staying with family or friends who live in gilroy and morgan hill. Definitely very tense for people who live up here because they can see the orange glow of the fire. When you are higher in the mountains, you can smell it. I cannot because i am down here, but we will continue to try to get closer to firefighters and sheriffs deputies who are literally going door to door knocking on the doors of people to make sure they are safe and that they get out. Thank you, janine. We will check back with her in a little bit. Stella, i have to ask you that 17 because 17 can be a horrendous commute and dry. Is any of that closed . Reporter 17 itself is that closed but you can see a lot of fire a couldnt getting in and we will continue to monitor to make sure we dont have enclosures that just sprung up. You will notice there is plenty of equipment coming in from all over the state. They will be using hyper 17, highway 9, and wrote nearby. If you arent a resident and dont need to be there, the authorities would appreciate you staying off the roads to keep them clear for emergency equipment. Lets look at the east shore freeway on 80 westbound as you drive between the car canis bridge with the 26 minute drive. There are no major problems. When you get to the bay bridge plaza, traffic will be busy. Lets look at some of the commute throughout the they quickly. Marin county looks across the bay. Hercules and 80 westbound getting slow. Highway 4 out of any act, if backup. We mentioned the south bay commute that looks good. Pam asked about highway 17. For the most part, highway 17 in the commute direction looks good. There are slowdowns on southbound 17 near the summit and that could be related to the fire. 607, lets go back to the desk. 6 07, now to our coverage of the first of three president ial debates. Everyone is talking about it. Hillary clinton and donald trump faced off in Hospital University in new york. Caroline shively there now with a wrapup of what happened last night. Morning, carolyn. Reporter good morning. It did not disappoint. It was a rough one last night. Most pundits this morning giving fenton the when however trump called into fox and friends this morning and said he would only give her her performance a c . The entire clinton case is that he that he is incapable of being president died on the state. Reporter donald trump didnt have any major gaffes but Hillary Clinton forced him to be on the fence for much of the debate. He doubled down on some of the biggest lines in the Campaign Including the birther erie or his support for the iraq war. Reporter clinton faces questions for her email scandal. I take responsibility for my mistakes. But that was more than a mistake. That was done purposefully. Reporter clinton hit trump on his past comments about women. This is a man who has called women pics, slobs, and dogs. And someone who has said pregnancy is an inconvenience to employers. Reporter afterwards, trump told fox he helps bad about held back about bill clintons affair. I didnt want to see what i was going to say about what was going on in their lives. So i didnt say it. I thought it would be disrespectful to chelsea. Reporter he still has more opportunities to redeem himself. I would remind Trump Supporters that there are three of these. Hes going to get better. Reporter less than two weeks from now, trump will get his chance. They will debate began. Next week, the Vice President ial contenders will face out. Back to you. Thank you. We are joined in our studio by our political analyst, joe two men. Thank you for coming back in. Yesterday we talked about something you said that an important thing is who is likable. Are they likable enough . I was watching the debate with my younger daughter and she kept commenting about their facial expressions. Particularly donald trump. Were they aware they were on the 2 shot. What you think about the likability of them after this . I think they were both themselves in many ways. We also talked about, in additional in addition to being across coming across as likable. Were they also being authentic . Mr. Trump, he did default to what we thought he would to which was to be unprepared and bore extemporaneous in his comments. His traditional exaggeration and hyperbole he engaged in. I liked it when he talked about he thats how he said he she spent hundreds of millions of dollars on hundreds of millions of ads. He tends to this is how he speaks. It also speaks to a more casual approach to these debates on his part. She was prepared. She did her homework and knew the details go he interrupted her a lot and she would occasionally glanced at him and give a polite smile. But that was as far as it went. She took a couple of jabs at him. The sickly, they were being themselves. This is how she is when she speaks and he was how he was when he speaks. In terms of authenticity, i thought they were themselves. Did it make you want to vote for them is a different question. There were good moments, i think, and there were missed opportunities last night go if i was creating this debate, i would say i thought mrs. Clinton we will talk about this in a minute had the stronger performance. But back to this question about voting. We talked yesterday we like to have pundits say someone had to win. But the truth is, people will make up their minds. If you like trump, you will think he did no wrong last night. And vice versa. For the undetermined . Be undecided voters it depends on the issues they were talking about. The 2 most important issues according to pollsters are the economy and the National Security question. They both that had their cases to make on the canopy. Her narrative was building the economy from the middleclass up. His argument reached back to ronald reagan. We derisively called it trickle down economics but economists call it supplyside economic. If you regulate less and tax be blessed with wealth, that will create wealth for others. There is some truth to that but over claiming of how much effect if it has an if it really benefits the wealthy more than it helps the poor in the end. Mrs. Clinton wanted to work for the middle class and i am guessing more undecided voters will find themselves in that position. Potentially, her narrative appealed to that if they were building on the economy. What about in terms of looking president ial lisko that is a big deal and trump has been accused of not looking for being president ial go and hillary has met with things as well on that. Who looked president ial . Their answer on National Security, and in particular a question from the moderator about the use of First Strike Nuclear act Nuclear Weapon was probably the most telling. This are trump was winging it. He gave an answer but there was a moment near the end that we have a video for. Lets take a look at it. The moment where she began with the words words matter. And spoke directly to the country in that moment wanting to reassure them that in spite of what mr. Trump had said about, if i was in charge and we would do this and you would have to do that to other countries. When people in other countries your these things lets take a look at it go words matter. When you run person for president and they really matter when they when you are president. And i want to be sure our allies in japan and south korea and elsewhere that we have mutual defense treaties and we will honor them. This was a big moment. He came near the end of the debate and it was a moment first because she actively recognize that the audience in the debates just the domestic political audiences. Is a global audience. When i worked for nato in turkey, he made that comment about no more muslims in america. At most of the muslims at the nato conference were furious. It was a social message from is within 24 hours when he said it. People listen when our candidates and are president speaks. In that moment, she recognized the significance of this and she became not a candidate, but a president in waiting by reassuring them. It was a very good moment for her. It was a missed opportunity for him in that moment. That is why i would say she had the stronger performance. If you are looking to also see who is president ial in the space. Thank you, joe. You will be back with more. A lot of people talking about the story and certainly this morning. 6 15 is the time. We are also following the story. We dont have a formal closures of highway 17 but we do have slow traffic all over the place. Lets go and start with the east bay with highway 4. There have been no major problems of the San Francisco bridge. Looking at 880 southbound, traffic will be slow. 230 is bounded to the union union city. At 6 20, lets go to steve. A very hot night in the Santa Cruz Mountains. There is a little off of westerly breeze and that helps but very high elevation and very steep. Michael coyne, our observer in mount almanac, currently 77 and a west 3 Miles Per Hour wind. I do expect, i dont think fog will be a factor, maybe tomorrow, but this is too high up in the elevation. The fog forecast brings fall back to the parts of the coast but it will be shallow but maybe tomorrow. Maybe we will get some from the base to lift it. It is it helped that isnt helping out. We you get up in the mountains and lower than that, there are cool temperatures. But i think firefighters are dealing with very hot conditions today, about 88 to 95 of the temperature with low humidity. We have a cooler pattern on tap for today, but there is still a hint of an offshore treat breeze. Even though the fog is moving toward the coast, it will still be warm. On the sonoma coast, is where it is now and eventually it will make it to San Francisco. We might see our first rain of the season by sunday or monday but until then, 60s and 70s and in land, 80 and 90. It will still be pretty hot in land but it does look cooler for everyone tomorrow and much cooler as we head into thursday and friday. It could get downright interesting by the weekend. Interesting. There may be rain in the north bay. Thank you, steve. The time is 6 22. Some new details about the shooting rampage in houston yesterday.
