You will be able to see that certain things are doing better. This is a look at 80 westbound between the bridge and the maze. 18 minutes is a great time for that drive. Sure, there will be crowding but its not the same as it was yesterday or probably will be tomorrow. Lets get to the bay bridge toll plaza. There is a backup. Its already getting better. The 880 was backed up for a ramp, now its not. Slow coming over the hill from bay point to concord. 680 looks good to walnut creek. Reporter they dont think this was a random attack. They have evidence that the two victims were likely targeted. The on scene investigation is wrapped up and all lanes are back open. They had been shut down for more than six hours overnight for this investigation of a car to car shooting. It left one man dead, another woman wounded. It happened around 11 00 last night. Thats when officers came up and found two victims inside a black audi sedan stopped on the side of the freeway. It was clear that multiple shots had been fired into the car. The man behind the wheel had been hit several times and later died at the hospital. The passenger was hit in the arm and she is expected to survive. Now, investigators believe at some point another car pulled alongside the victims car on the freeway and then someone opened fire. Investigators are now interviewing other drivers who may have witnessed the shooting. Because of the time of night and it being a holiday, there were multiple drivers on the road. We have witnesses that we are using for this case. Reporter now, investigators have not yet identified the man and the woman who were shot last night but because are in their 20sand 30s and from the east bay. The chp believe the two victims have some sort of connection to the shooter. Investigators are not elaborating but they believe this was not a random attack and likely a targeted shooting last night. The chp searching for whoever opened fire last night and they have not put out any description of the getaway car that was involved in the freeway shooting. Alex savage, thank you. Now to you decide 2016. The race for the white house. The republican candidates for president are back on the campaign trail this morning after debating for the fourth time last night. Ktvu2s ross palombo was the only reporter from the area there last night. Good morning, ross. Reporter good morning. That debate is in the history books now. You can see that theyre clearing out the stage. What a big night it was. Here in the theater there were more than 3,000 people in attendance in these chairs and up on the stage. All of these eight candidates earlier. This was as you say the fourth Republican Debate. By far the most substantive debate. The subject of course was the economy, jobs and finance. There was more substance this time around and fewer attacks. But there were some big moments still mainly over Immigration Reform and national security. How is it conservative to add a trillion dollars in military expenditures. You cannot be conservative if youre going to add programs that youre not going to pay for. We cant even have an economy if were not safe. There were radical jihaddists in the middle east beheading christians. The chinese taking over the south china sea. Yes, i believe the world is a safer no, i dont believe. I know that the world is a safer and better place when america is the Strongest Military power in the world. Reporter that exchange one of the biggest moments of the night. Everybody expected the biggest moment to be over the allegations surrounding ben carson about his past stories. The stories that he apparently attacked his mother with a hammer, that he tried to stab a friend, that he had a scholarship to west point. Only one question from the moderators about all of that and none of the candidates chimed in. Well, you know, he believes that it will grant him an advantage. And we will see over the course of time whether its helpful or hurtful to him. I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a well handled debate. Do you think the moderators let ben carson off the hook not pursuing the questions about his background. No. This is a business debate. I thought it was a very elegant evening. Thank you so much. Well, donald trump actually said that several times. He called this debate elegant. In fact all of the candidate thats we spoke to, dave and gasia, in the spin room they said they thought it asaphia irly moderated and it was very substantive. I want to show you something quickly. This is the stage that all of the candidates were on. Look at what they look at during the debate. 3,000 people in attendance. Only about a third are local people. The rest are filled by the party elite and friends and family members. Of course when theyre on the stage, the pressure is on, not just from the audience but from all of us watching. 14 to 24 Million People have watched the debates. And we expect the ratings to be high for this one as well. Interesting. You raised a point. I was going to ask you about it. At the previous debate, the candidates were angry at the moderators. Last night it seemed to be a different mood. Reporter oh, it was definitely a different mood out here last night, dave. The cnbc debate, everyone coming off that stage, the only thing that they really wanted to talk about is how bad the questions were, how bad the moderators were. Everyone coming off of this debate said exactly the opposite. They thought the questions were good. They had more than enough time to answer. They had a minute 30 to answer this time around and a minute to do a rebuttal. And they thought the moderators were fair. All right. Ktvus ross palombo in milwaukee. Thank you, ross.
