As were issued this morning. The fire started yesterday afternoon. Right near the top of loma mountain. It has burned through 1000 acres. At this point it is 5 contained. Jeanine is live in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Reporter we have driven all the way up this road. This is a very rural road. And from here, we stopped as soon as we saw flames and could get a cell phone signal. And you can see we apologize, it looks like we have lost her. It is important to know, that people are being told to essentially be ready to evacuate their homes, should the fire continue to push towards their homes. We are seeing pictures from one mans home he was loading up what he needs but he says, that he is going to stay as long as he can. He is concerned about looters. And, we can bring in this live picture. And, we are over orange active flame. Thats on the lefthand side of the screen. And it appears that it is close to a number of structures. You see animals, horses, the it appears to be horses. Yes. You are right. It looks like a line of people standing out there. So, it appears im guessing that is a rescue truck . It is towards the middle of the screen. People are being told to leave earlier. I know that you guys shared a still photo of a home. If a very tense situation sad situation. People, animals, property being put at risk. We are going to talk about Evacuation Orders. Now, for those that have been told to be ready to leave, if youre with me jump in. Were going to talk about a list of Evacuation Centers that are being set up. And, you see them on your screen, its the Jewish Community center, at 14 855, oak grove road. In less condos. Los gatos. And the Socal High School at 401 san jose road. And, we have list of the Evacuation Centers for you on our website at ktvu. Com. We will keep talking about the fire burning throughout the morning. We need to talk to steve because, youre really concerned well, its very high elevation. Santa cruz my cool off but i dont think that the mountains well. Too much warm air. There is some settled some settled breeze. But remember, that fire creates it owns. Zone breeze. It is only 5 contained currently anywhere from 77 to 79. The highest today will probably not be as hot as yesterday. Humidity is very low. Ms high elevation may not get any help for about 24 hours and of the elevation and the elevation may not get any help for about 24 hours. It is middle to upper 70s to almost 80. The fog is trying. Its not there yet. This continues to work its way towards the santa cruz area. I do not think it will. The fog will make it by tonight and tomorrow. There will be more of a favoring westerly breeze so, there are some positive pattern versus yesterday. But it is a slow process to get Higher Elevations. Still offshore breeze, not strong but its not on sure. 60s on the temps 50s for some and for others its really warm especially in the Higher Elevations. But much cooler weather is on the way. A lot by tomorrow. But still 90s inland. All right, what you have for this is not affecting 17 yet , right . Not in the traditional way. The traffic might be a little slow. But one thing that you should, as you will see a lot of emergency equipment there. And we have also had a very busy commute all over the east bay. And the toll plaza over the bay bridge is a 20 to 25 minutes away. And, west 80 near columbus park, with a commuter van that was stalled that was hit and an injury accident there. But, hercules and richmond in 680 is slow from concord on the creek and 24 is getting slower. Highway 4 is slower. And, lets move along to the to 37 commute, getting into the valley on all the approaches. It is slow. Lets go back to the desk. It will continue our coverage of the loma fire. Alex savidge is standing by at a command post with the situation. Yes, hello. Morning to you. Actually, we are a. At the top of the mountain. And you can see, just a few rages over, that huge plume of smoke, thats one of the leading edges of the loma fire and, just got off the phone a short time ago with cal fire they confirmed that one structure was destroyed. They are going to try to do an assessment of some point to figure out if any other homes or structures may have been lost. Also new this morning, the renew Evacuation Orders for the community. And so, homes in the area and people in that area are being forced to evacuate. About 500 or so people have been ordered to evacuate. And last check, they have burned about 1000 acres and still, by percent contained. I will show you some video asset fire continues to burn. Mainly along the ridge line. And of course, it broke out late in the day, it quickly grew in size, the fire is threatening the radio transmission towers at the top of loma prieto mountain. And, also by the Police Department and the Fire Department. We spoke with one man who lives on the road and was forced to evacuate last night. We have been there on the top of the ridge and looking down not it doesnt suck down into the canyon. Now, there are several hundred firefighters who are battling those flames both on the ground and also in the air. I spoke with a representative for cal fire, he says that they will have a full complement of air resources coming in later today. That will mean, water dropping helicopters and fixed wing air attackers air tankers. And so, bringing you back out here live, this is the scene, from our vantage point, we are close to the intersection of summit road and Mount Madonna road looking a few bridges over at one of those leading edges, and again, one structure that we do know was destroyed according to cal fire, but it is possible that other structures may have been lost. But, we know that hundreds of other homes are in the path of this fire. All right. Thank you. Back to our coverage of the first of three president ial debates. Hillary clinton, donald trump faced off at the university in new york. Caroline is there right now to wrap up what happened last night. Reporter good morning to you. It was a wild one. It did not go easy on each other. They were hardhitting on everything from the policies to personal. The entire clinton case that he is incapable of being president died somewhere on that stage. Donald trump didnt have any gas, Hillary Clinton forced him to be on defense. Back he doubled down on some of the biggest lies whether it was his role in promoting the theory. Clinton can to answer questions about her email scandal. I take responsibility. But the donald didnt let it go. That was more than a mistake. Time, clinton hit trump on his past comments. This is a man who has called women pics cost lobs, and dogs. Pigs, slobs, and dogs. And said that pregnancy is an inconvenience to employers. He said he held back about bill clintons affairs. I didnt want to say what i wanted to say so i decided not to say it. I thought it would be disrespectful to chelsea. I would remind Trump Supporters who are feeling uneasy, that there are three of these. Is going to get better. The slams are continuing all morning long. He called in this morning and said he would only give Hillary Clinton in her performance a c . And, the Vice President s are going best candidates are going again. Vice president ial candidates are going at it again as well. Hand, we have our political analyst back. Good morning. Race was a major issue, donald trump in Hillary Clinton sparred over the issue, particularly the recent officer and pulled shooting the shootings were africanamerican men were killed. Is as the wartorn country . We have to stop the violence, we have to bring back lawn order and in a place like chicago where thousands of people have been killed. Its unfortunate that he paints such a dire negative picture of black communities and our country. The vibrancy of the black church, the black businesses that employ so many people. And you heard there, the responses. What is your reaction . While one of the things we have been saying, is that both of them were themselves and mr. Trump and credit to him have gotten this far on his own instincts still showed it a lack of discipline as a candidate doing his homework. You do not learn about the Africanamerican Community by appearing at a couple of churches and giving a few speeches. We go to the community, you go to homes, you visit a lot of places and, you also listen. You dont just give speeches. And you need to have been doing that for a couple of years. What you saw last night, the answer they were giving, someone who has done a modest amount of research and talked to a couple of people. And he thinks he can presume to speak for a very Large Population because he hired them. You know its more than just crime, more than just poverty, but that there is a broader spectrum of issues to talk about. And thats really what she was saying. She showed the experience of someone who has had a lot of experience and him, for someone who is not doing his research in this. And its not that he couldnt ever reach people in the community. But if youre not willing to show that you are willing to listen and learn, they arent stupid. And they know the difference between somebody whos interested in what they think and their concerns. And someone who is running for election. Donald trump have the momentum. Hillary clinton at some point had a doubledigit lead over donald trump. That is essentially been erased. Looking forward what you think its good to move numbers . The question is, with these debates, as i said yesterday, they just reinforce existing preferences. But the undecided voters, and those undecided voters that are most concerned about the economy, he did have some moments also weak moments. But some strong when he was talking about his record. He did build businesses and has some acumen were that is concerned. And so, if you are in undecided voter who is worried about that, potentially there something for you. But mrs. Clintons theme by contrast on the economy, is very much about supplyside economics to help help the wealthy americans. And, i think that her perspective probably reaches a larger number of undecided voters were also middleclass voters who feel a sense of disconnect right now. They have not only lost jobs but they feel like their dollars to buy as much as they used to. Housing is expensive and they worry about the future. The question remains, which of these two approaches will resonate. I guess would be that she reach more people with that message last night and he did. Before we go, what are the two campaigns doing, how are they looking ahead, telling them where they need to be, what they need to say . The first thing that they are doing still, is continuing to spend. One of the things we talked about it all of these candidates love to, and the parties encourage the candidates and campaigns to this theyve lower your expectations as long as you shop and have a pulse, you did it. And after the facts, there is a lot of this, who won and who lost. But it doesnt really matter because people have made up their minds. But both of them had a performance last night, if you like trump you probably saw gush liked what you saw. And likewise for clinton. Going forward, in the campaign, it is very much a chaser undecided voters. So look for more activity in the states that are going to matter to stretch. Pennsylvania, michigan, florida is a big one. Other places like that. Where, those states which could go either way, democrat or republican are the ones that will decide this race in the end. And if the undecided voters that will get the focus. Thank you so much for joining us. We now turn to you, ask the question of the day. And, the question is, what was your favorite moment from the debate . Let us know what you think. Post a comment to her facebook page. All right. It is 7 16 am. And in other news, a woman was shot, her husband pistol whipped by a pair of masked men. Coming up, why police are talking to employees. And, we will let you know that the commute, will set you back. At 7 20 am, lets go to steve. We are trying to get the fog to make an impact here. For some it has, but i think the good news is, it will not be as hot as just of a. Higher elevations will still be very warm. Temperatures in the 90s. But there is a hint of a westerly breeze. And, it will take this over the northeast breeze, this is a photo sent to me by luke long burger. And, this is from the cliffs and santa cruz looking back towards the boardwalk. Some dramatic photos coming in. Continue to send those to me. And, depending on the elevation it is either cool, Boulder Creek, scotts valley, Higher Elevations are warm. And, 73 and 74, there are some extremely warm areas with air. And, it is still off parts of the coast. And, it is going to get there. The forecast is favored tomorrow. And the questions, will get up to 2500 or 3000 feet, that would. And, there are some positive signs. So, one more hot daybook cooler weather is on the way. This is getting very close, but still 63 in San Francisco. A slight offshore breeze, and its not there for the delta. But it is getting there. 50s and 60s on the temperatures. And, the north bay temperatures 50s or 60s, observations are very cool. And, fog will be a big job on the temperatures for some. Especially on the coast. And our focus needs to turn to sunday and monday when it looks like the rain will make it in. Until we get there, it will erode some of those hot, so, if you live in the Higher Elevations it will be very hot. But the fog is returning. And a dramatic drop on our temps as we go into the weekend. I would not be surprised if rain makes it on sunday. Very interesting. It is 7 22 am. Firefighters are still making progress against that wildfire. Sky fox was right over that fire yesterday afternoon but you can see, no smoke. It started nearly geysers sunday afternoon turned 1500 acres, now it is 45 contained. Last night and its very Evacuation Orders were lifted but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
