It was not far from bird avenue. Three cars were involved in the crash and debris scattered across the roadway. Investigators say as of right now they dont know which of the cars was going northbound in the southbound lanes. Her passenger was not hurt. The chp says the collision could have been much worse. Headon collision at freeway speed that people survive is absolutely amazing. Im going to assume that they both had their seat belts on, air bags deployed and the Passenger Department stayed intact enough to keep them alive. We started out in west oakland where this started. We made our way over to east bay motor sports where there was a scene there where we showed you that broken glass. Now were at hayward police. We got the latest information about this. The first thing is there has been an arrest made in this case. Lets go ahead and show you video that we shot a little while ago. An hour ago or so, we were at east bay motorsports where this all began as an attempted burglary. There was a broken out window in the front of the building at east bay motor sports. There were four suspects who tried to break in with a sledge hammer. They were spotted apparently by a witness. And police were alerted by an alarm. The first officers on scene say a suspect in a uhaul tried to ram them. Fortunately no officers were hurt but that led to the choice that we were alerted about that ended up in west oakland. Dozens of Police Officers on scene from west oakland and west from oakland and from way hard. The police said there was the arrest of the driver of that stolen uhaul. The remaining suspect, the driver, was arrested and he was booked here at hayward. Hes a 20yearold male from oakland and his charges include assault of a Deadly Weapon on after officer. In the meantime at least one of the men accused of a deadly Christmas Eve stabbing inside a target store in hayward is due in court this morning. Frankie is due for a 9 00 arraignment. Reporter on Christmas Eve a last minute chris malshopping tripped turned deadly. They encountered two men playing loud music with offensive lyrics. Griffin asked the two strangers to turn the music down. The three got into an argument and one of the men pulled out a knife and stabbed griffin as his son watched. Daddy died trying to protect you. Daddy died trying to be a hero. I dont want his death to be in vain. And it is unfortunate that would be the last time that he would ever be able to protect his son. Reporter griffin died at the hospital. Hayward Police Arrested two people in the killing after they ran from the store. Griffins family is trying to make sense of it all. The new rules provide them holding a suspect in a neck hold and shooting at moving vehicles except under extreme vehicles. The Police Officers association say the new rules jeopardize officer safety. The time is 7 08. This morning, prosecutors in germany say they detained a 40 yearold man who may have been involved in last weeks truck attack on a Christmas Market in berlin. Police believe anis amri drove the truck into the group of people. Isis has claimed responsibility for the attack.
