The two federal judges are using trumps words and the words of his advisors against him and a ruling by a federal judge and why put a temporary restraining order on it and this morning a judge in maryland blocked the ban. The travel ban would have blocked traveling to the us by six muslim majority countries. Iraq is now off the new list, the judge has rejected the claims that the revised travel ban is about National Security not discrimination, the judge site trumps own words during his campaign and his tv interviews for wanting the ban on muslims. He did not take the news well, in his own words, he said they may come back to hurt his order by saying it wasnt much different than the first that was turned down. They already blocked. It was a watered down version of the first order. There is no way to word it so that it sticks to safety no mention of religion, as a professor in your position there is no way you can think of making this ban proof . Here is the thing, if there was any approval to address people that specifically posed a risk of safety to the us, that would be reasonable, especially in maryland. However, given the way that they are targeting people from these countries, there is no correlation between coming from these countries and posing a heightened risk to us security. So, targeting these countries in particular is not something that will withstand the test. If you seriously consider security you will have to do it a different way. You wouldnt ask people based on the country. That says a lot about the countries checks and balances . This is one lesson to learn Something Interesting is how important it is to have an independent judiciary to follow up on the claims and see if the government is doing what it is supposed to do. Coming up, four people charged in the massive hacker attack on yahoo, the story we have been following since yesterday, how bay area fbi agents played a big role in the investigation. The Justice Department has formally indicted four russians and a massive hacking case that compromised 500 million yahoo accounts two of the suspects are members of the fsb Security Organization in russia the suspects are described as criminal hackers. One of them has been taken into custody in canada, three other men are large the indictment includes conspiracy, Computer Fraud and economic espionage. This case originated in the bay area with the hacking at accounts in Silicon Valley companies. Agents in the San Francisco office took the lead in the investigation. The fbi says two russian spies and criminal hackers are responsible for one of the largest data breaches in us history, the victims, millions of accounts at yahoo and google. Two defendants are officials with the Russian Intelligence Service the successor to the kgb. The indictment says the fsb officials paid hackers to break into computers and collect sensitive information, one of them was arrested tuesday in canada. The other three are atlarge and presumed to be in russia. We want to send a clear message, you can try to hide in the corners of the dark web but we will hunt you down. We will expose you and we will bring you to justice. The fbi has a long reach. The group targeted yahoo and google accounts. Other victims included nevada gaming officials and a senior officer of a us airline, the defendants were indicted on charges including conspiracy to commit Computer Fraud, theft of trade secrets and economic espionage. They are being charged of stealing yahoo data base and also getting paid for diverting internet traffic to an Online Pharmacy company. Also accused of lining his pockets for personal financial gain. It is an open question as to whether the remaining three defendants will be arrested and face trial in San Francisco. There is no extradition treaty between us and russia. These guys will travel one day there are a lot of International Countries that have extradition treaties with the united states. In these types of cases it is very rare we get to see a face and a name when you hear about the data breach, it says a lot about the fbi they have been working on this since the initial attack . This is the first case in which the fbi has charged fsb agents so this was a big case. Any agents in the bay area . This goes to show you, if you put enough resources into trying to find someone they can be found, you hear about spoofing and you can cover your tracks but they know where the people are. Matthew moeller could get 40 years in federal prison for the 2015 kidnapping of denise hoskins, moeller used a drone to sky on her and her boyfriend before breaking into their home, tied them up, drugged to them and took the woman hostage before setting her free two days later in huntington beach.
